Guys...

How does all this 3 tires do, in GRIP, WET and STEERING RESPONSE

Size
215/45R17

Toyo T1R vs Yokohama S-Drive vs Michelin PP2
*
well PP2 did fairly well is all expect... but for that size y don u try out GY F1 Assy which is a lil better than all of these???
Toyo T1R have a softer compound... PP2 have a harder side all and it has 1 of the best aquaplaning/hydroplaning in the class...
S Drive is also did fairly good in every expect... so all this 3 tires really depend on ur preference... T1R and S Drive is directional thread hence it will be noisier than PP2... for a lil comfort GY F1 Assy and Toyo T1R is the choice... but T1R got ppl complaint that it is comfort but the thread life is short... S Drive ppl complaint is noisy that ll what i heard of... but that is your drive??? which is ur priority??? I presume Traction is the most important... choose urself Handing, Noise, Comfort???

I'm hunting for tires. Good reviews on v12 PP2. Taking those tires into consideration. Anyone can comment on michelin primacy. Also what about conti premium contact and sportcontact. Anyone can give review on them?

A little confused I thought i posted my question about price on another thread. Anyway Thanx for your suggestion.

Actually my preference would be moderate performance and comfortable but not noisy. Also good performance in wet. The perfect choice might be v12 but i read that alot of tyre shop is out of stock. So i need to have a backup choice. My current silverstone kruizer just so so in wet. On comfort, kruizer not really bad really. So my choice of tires should be a level above kruizer.

What about conti sportcontact or premium contact? I've eliminate comfortcontact because i think it's not really an upgrade from my current tires. Conti doesn't seem to be the favourite choice here. I think conti tyres are good too. Not a lot of user review on conti.

well what is ur ride... V12 or PP2 is your choice... smile.gif
in order to give you a more accurate info we need to know ur ride...
coz if ur ride have stiff or hard suspension system... then PP2 might be out of the list... coz it has harder side wall

try to look for Ban Hooi Klang i think they do have stock... call up Teik Ming Sunway to ask also... smile.gif

After using this Federal 595 EVO for about 3 weeks and have drove about 2k plus km
Noise level is high 7/10
Tire side wall stiff 6/10
Dry grip 7.5/10
Wet grip 6/10
Rubber wear 5/10

Dry grip tire very easy to reach optium temperature and dont need to push to warm up it... after reach working temp it will grip very well if you know how to take cornering line in high speed the tire dont make noise, for Understeer in some corner rarely happen in medium & high speed but if entering corner at high speed to a slow speed corner it do understeer due to cornering & braking at the same time

Wet road i just push in strait line ... grip is well to cut alot water, Cornering i dint push much as our normal road got oil on the road surface so it will be make it more slippery so GUYS dont push your luck till the edge some time.

yes and that is crazy... expensive...
if you wanna compare PP2 with 912... sorry to say but i have not used 912 b4 coz that is performance level not UHP...
comfort - 912
handling - PP2
Grips - PP2
Quiet - 912
912 sure more comfort as it aim is performance comfort... not like PP2 where is focus more on its handling.. if about handling then PP2 beats 912... because of it's harder sidewall it give you harsher ride but better handling... grips for PP2 in Wet and Dry also will be better than 912 again... PP2 hydroplaning/aquaplaning is one of the best in it's class... but in terms of quietness i still choose 912 coz PP2 will get a lil noisier when it thread wears after 60%...
2 of the tire is in total different categories...
u need better comments and recommendation please give us ur car model, tire size also... then choose... priority... Noise, Handling, Grip, Comfort... 1~4 rank it... there is nothing to perfect but just u can to compromise a bit on certain area...
u can try Hankook V12 if you are using some sizes as it give you similar performance like PP2 but noisier, a lil more toward comfort and the last cheaper...

thanks michael for great information and quick feed back. . well now my satria neo tyre going bald soon, tyre stock 195/50/r16 still undecided whether wanna stick to stock profile or go 205/50 or 205/45 series haha.. does the extra width provide a little more comfort? im not really looking for UHP tyres cos i oredi have falken rt-615 on my weekend ride. this satria is used for daily run and sometimes need to go to construction site. so i need some comfort . my priority 1st is comfort and noise then only performance then only thread wear rating. but since u said the car will get a little noisier when reaching 60% then i think i will stick to 912, but do you know these both tyre thread wear rating at?

MY01... almost similar with 912 but 912 is is towards comfort...
if you are looking for good and cheap UHP tires... Hankook V12 is the one... i'm using 1 now... 195/55 R15 on my '05 Vios... nice balance of comfort and performance... smile.gif
if not mistaken MY-01 and D-01 traction's rating is only A only... whereas PP2, S Drive, V12, T1R, and few others UHP tires is AA is a step better than those 2 commonly used...

well im do alot of cornering.

So far dont talk about semi slicks.

below Rm200. no need to pick anymore. prada spec 2. is the best. people said sidewall is soft. yes correct. but i manage to make it better by pump more air in it. im usually pump while do cornering at 255 pressure.
normal drive mayb just go 245 or 240.

so about not semi slicks.

potenza Re001, is the best but price. Wow. but not sure is very nice. cuz my 1st performance tire i try in low budget is prada spec 2. and now wanna go between 200 to Rm250.

any suggestion? so far Rs2 hancook is that price. V12 how much is it same as Rs2? and how about Hero molenza H1 i think.. the tire thread look like Rs2 hankook as well.

About semi slicks, so far is Ad07 but no more production and the next best and cheap semi slicks is Federal 595S. i heard alot.

but the rubber do hard core cornering thread will split out.. hmm like u use pencil rubber and u try to erase it and that Rubber Shit tongue.gif tat peel off like that.

and also must well taken care of the tire or else the sidewall can split. like old people strip line u know ?

so i wanted people have giv more option for me as well plz! pro and really do lot of cornering people. i dont care about noise. since prada spec 2 are not that quite as well.

my choice for non semi slicks are Rs2, or hero milanza HR1 .
and yet also got someone recommended me. Achilles 123. the thread look a like R888 toyo.

well Hankook is not Hancock... haha...
Hankook V12 is a good all rounder if you wan a bit comfort + performance... and it is cheap RM190 for 195/55 R15 fitted on my Vios more than 6 months...
Federal is ok also but depends what you want... for you, the ride might be a lil harsh... depends...
what is ur priorities... Handling, Ride comfort??? choose 1... then u need to consider about noise also... smile.gif

btw u pump 255??? about 34 PSI only??? my Vios i'm using 35~36 PSI in front already with my Hankook V12...
the ride is still accceptable for my side... if you cannot give up the ride comfort then better u skip those semi slick tires...

No conti user here to give review? Hope v12 will be available again next month when i go to klang.

Went with a friend to batu gajah yesterday to survey tyres and ask for michelin primacy. One worker pointed to a set of tyres he called MICHELIN MAXXIS!
Totally clueless that guy. Another worker proudly said they don't sell cheap tyres(Since when michelin is cheap). They only have michelin made in Italy? price at RM350 for 15 inch!!! Ask him what type he don't know just claim it's from Italy. Hopeless shop.

bro, yokohama never come out with 912. you could be referring to falken ze912.
both are almost equal but comfort and noise wise, falken912 is a lil' ahead.

@michael9413@
i finally got hold of the v12 on my friend's car. the overall performance is up to my expectation thumbup.gif
slightly more comfortable than c.drive.

btw, from my experience, sime astar 300 perform slightly better than d-01 in wet tongue.gif

here is my car setup, basically i was doing 2 testing Tire & suspension

user posted image

By the way my car Setup for Titan suspension is
Car: vios manual
Car weight : 1020KG as per spec but mine abit lighter weight
Wheel Setup 15"
Rim weight: 3.9kg per wheels.
Tire : Federal 595EVO .... tire spec UTQG 260.A.A for tread wear and grip level performance.
Tire Preasure: Front 260/kpa Rear 220/kpa normal gas station air.

Camber Setting
front 1.5
Rear 0 as OEM cant be adjust

Titan suspension setup
Spring Rate
Front 5kg/mm Rear about 2~2.5kg/mm (rear is about standard spring from toyota and supply by APM)

Day 1
Before Install...
when to test drive at ampang lookup point/ little genting
-Road condition not all part of the road is smooth, some part of the road is patch here and there and some part of the road is deeps in maybe road patch is not very well... like this ------_________---------
-Car Condition all stock just sport rims ..
-test run 1 stock speed up about 70kmh~90kmh, during corner the car very unstable speed was drop to 60kmh when coming downhill, during cornering the car feel like in a boat ride when wave is strong... so i backoff try not to risk

then when to install Titan suspension

After install Titan suspension, they check the setting and have some driving around the office ...

After all the done, Titan son and me when for test drive we use some short cut road to Ampang lookup point ...
i start with slow drive to feel how it respond on slow speed at 60kmh... good ride feel like using sport spring not too stiff ...cornering is stable ...
Then i increase the speed to 100kmh ~ 120kmh in strait road and corner the feel is much more better very control suspension damping & rebound is very well set.... then we reach a part of corner with patch road with deeps in ------_______-------- is during cornering speed at that time was 110kmh... i was scare the tail of the car will let go (oversteer) cause happen to me before ... sad experince that time ... so i dint think much continue to speed dont care much ...surprise dint Oversteer at all so i continue few more corner .... hehe really happy then on the way back to Titan office i take a 90 degree turn and jam brake during turning ... surprise the rear part of the car dint power slide off ..... even Titan son also surprise

Day 2 testing is on hill road with high speed corner and medium speed corner road was very smooth...

Day 2 Medium speed & High speed corner ( #Dont Try this At home# )
Location from shah alam to KL to Berjaya Hill resort

-ride from Shah alam to Gombak toll was fine, even my co-driver dint notice i have install Titan suspension at the early stage... dint tell him about the installation ..hehe when reach road that have yellow line to slow your car speed ... it feel stiff if the yellow line is thicker at some road ... i had that ride feel even in stock suspension...

-Going up hill was fine then i told my co-driver i have install titan he was shock, he say the car dint bounce much on the slow speed and ride is confort car speed follow speed limit hehe then after the Genting tunnel i increase speed abit on the long strait downhill, after that long strait got few medium speed corner (last time on my old car max ever go is 100/kmh) then i try to push with Titan at that time was doing 130kmh ~ 140kmh got some G force feel hehe... surprice the Federal 595EVO tire dint not loss traction dint feel understeer during turning and even increase speed in the corner

-When arrive at Berjaya hill resort at the early guard house before arrive the hill up there the road surface is smooth but the tar is not so nice tire killer road ...hehe during that time my tire have reach optium temperature small stone stick on the tire when drive slow slow 20/kmh... continue to drive the road designer was very good for berjaya hill resort if drive FR can play drifting haha... continue to attack corner after corner... push and push want to feel when is the tire oversteer and understeer but it just continue give more traction really good tire

#Dont Try this at home#
-on the way back to KL from berjaya hill resort slow drive after the tunnel cause rain that time, then from tunnel after that got few medium speed also driving slow wet road hehe... after that long strait the road was dry and nice then a myvi over take me outside, i continue to push in corner he dare not to push hehe ... then a lotus elise on my tail .. he tail gate me then when strait he over take me then in a fast corner i follow him very close bumper to bumper that time in front of him was no car he was pushing in corner and i follow him very close that time during cornering i was doing 160/kmh ~ 170/kmh my friend was so silent dare not to say any things that time ...haha tire grip still very good dint feel understeer or oversteer after that corner come to main strait again then i loss out on topspeed but good fight on the high speed corner sedan 1.5 VS sport car 1.8 with MR drive system...haha our Vios really can kick some butt even lotus cant pull away in high speed corner (maybe driver issue)...haha

After that follow speed limit ...that is Day 2 testing
