after using both tire, my conclusion ; ps3 win in term of quietness, comfort and wet(intermediate) traction. but i've had more confidence with re001 on downpour. traction does not differ much but i just feel re001 is steadier! perhaps, this was due to re001 being heavier than ps3.
also, re001 had a much harder sidewall. thus, handling goes to re001.
surprisingly, re001 match the aa rated ps3 in term of braking grip. also, progressive steering feel goes to re001.

price wise, re001 is almost 90 bucks cheaper than ps3(same size).
tread wear rating is 320 for ps3 and 220 for re001, which is quite a drawback as a daily ride.

btw, my next target will be the ku31.

your re001 could last for 36K? that was good!
i replaced my ps3 at 16.5k mileage with about 50% tread left and go for re001 which does not flex as much. re001 is heavier thou.

RE001 heavy?
let me scales it on my next tire changing laugh.gif
coming soon...

I'm agreed on what you said, especially highlighted on Blue.
Everyone complained RE001 Traction only A,
but seriously speaking, i have no problem on wet braking.

traction rated on the tyres are their own in house rating ler..
same goes to the threadwear...

its not standardize across the board...

if that is the case, then slick tyres will have traction AAAAAAAAAAAAAA ?

well threadwear and traction and also temperature is under the international standard so called UTQG... so if the rating is there there must be a reason...
BTW the traction is for wet braking stopping distance... they tested it with a certain standard... read more you will know it is not for dry or cornering traction sweat.gif it there is no standard at all why they put it there...

@bro yngwie,
the huge pricing difference is for 16" and above, but for 15" it is almost similar or PS3 is a lil more expensive RM20/tire...

agrees with you on the ride quality and also the performance too but still a lil doubts on the wet...
still because of the stiffer sidewall it prevents me to get it coz i don like my ride to go too bumpy... 1 day i might be try it out but at the moment all my 15" tires is still good...

yes....
but the road we are travelling on daily... is it up to the standard that the test is based on?
too many criteria and it can differs from manufacturer to manufacturer...
this can be only taken with a pinch of salt and not outright reference...

there is a standard to follow but where do the manufacturer get the grading done?
in their own test lab too right or they send their tyres to an independent body for grading? u know the answer....

and based on my personal experience.. the traction rating dont meant shit cuz i have been on tyres with A that performs better then AA in dry and wet under heavy braking and mind u, all this is done with the same car...

what i read from here:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/tec...e.jsp?techid=48

QUOTE
When looking at UTQG ratings it is important to realize that the Department of Transportation does not conduct the tests. The grades are assigned by the tire manufacturers based on their test results or those conducted by an independent testing company they have hired.

http://www.nsxprime.com/FAQ/TireWheel/utqg.htm

QUOTE
it is very important to know that the grades are obtained under controlled conditions, and are not completely applicable to actual usage.

http://autorepair.about.com/cs/generalinfo/a/aa120603a.htm

QUOTE
Each tire manufacturer has its own philosophy about UTQG ratings, especially when it comes to the treadwear rating. Some view the rating as a huge marketing tool, while others tend to think of it as an implied warranty. Be cautious when you compare ratings - they may not be "apples to apples".

well test shown is RE001 or RE760 (twins) is not as good as V12...

user posted image

well these test are done properly by ppl... and there is a few mores results shows that wet results for it is not as good some others tires

nvm la... you use the tire you like... for me Hankook V12 is best for ppl whom want comfort...
Michelin PS3, Bridgestone RE001 is good for ppl that can afford it's price...

all tires have strong and weak point... at least i read most of the review saying RE001 is not as good in wet as PP2/PS3 and also V12...

well the grip is totally different... the ones that we provide to you is more on performance range... if you really want comfort and quiet tires you might be interested on Toyo C1S, Michelin Primacy LC or even Goodyear F1 Asy...
F1 Asy is a good tires which falls higher in the range... but it should be priced below RM400 which is cheaper than others... smile.gif
Recent Price List from AutoWorld Forum...

215/45R17
Federal 595 Evo - RM 285 GoodWood Tyre Service, Klang (Mar 10)
Goodyear F1 Asy - RM380 Quicksave (Feb 10)
Goodyear RS02 (Japan) - RM368 Quicksave (Apr 10)
Hankook V12 - RM330 Teoh Brothers Bayu Tinggi Klang (May 10)
Maxxis i-Pro - RM320 PJ Old Town (Jun 10)
Michelin PS3 - RM450 Quicksave (Jul 10)
Michelin PS3 - RM440 Hin Leong Kedai Papan Klang (Sep 10)
Yokohama A Drive R1 - RM320 Hup Yik Tyre - Ipoh (Feb 10)
Dunlop Veuro VE302 (Japan) - RM425 Jooi Seng, Klang (Nov'10)

please provide the Dunlop model then only can compare...
it depends what category of tires do you want to use... because Comfort and Quiet tires also have 2~3 range sometimes...

Hankook V12 is good for normal use but it is not that quiet... preferably you try N8000...

Same range of tires you have different characteristic too... even some performance tires is cheap but of course in return the wet performance is poor or u need to sacrifice on others performance (noisy, comfort or thread wear)..

I read from you post is you need a comfort and quiet tire for 215/45 R17 which is below RM400... am i correct?
GY F1 Asy should be below RM400, N8000 also below that...
*
last call, made up my mind. budget from 350 - rm450/pcs. for 215/45/17
current wish list:
1) michelin PLC
2) michelin PS3
2) Toyo C1S / CT-01
3) hankook V12
4) GY F1 asym.
5) BS GR-90

pls help me to made decision. Top priority : comfort + silent.... if can long lasting as well laugh.gif biggrin.gif
not driving fast during wet condition....
