And that doesn't take away the fact that Autobots are characters. Ask yourself:

a) Does Autobots stand for any values?
b) Does Autobots show emotion?

If yes to the above, they are characters.

Answer: Optimus Prime says BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH
Answer: Bumblebee cried

and they both fought and won over 2-3 decepticons..

rmbr in the first movie, optimus cant even stand 1 on 1 against the mighty megatron (i guess the deep blue sea really hurt his circuits? even if that blackout and starscream got crushed by optimus alone fighting on 3? )

as for bumblebee, he cant really put a scratch on barricade in the first movie.. they were both of equal strenght... and now going solo he is able to defeat both ravage and rampage? (plus tearing apart their internal organs) wat the...

Which brings me to the direction the movie could have gone, under the hands of a smarter director. We could still have had a human viewpoint character like Sam, only the Autobots and Decepticons would've been the bona fide stars of their own movie. Optimus Prime could've been a genuinely inspiring leader, Bumblebee could've been the weakest but bravest, and Starscream could've been an annoying git. None of this is impossible - it just wasn't even attempted.

You proved that the character was significant? You can't even get his name right.

I'm already feeling kinda ashamed for liking it.

Best Transformer movie.

You can't even remember what "values" he stands for. And no, "stands for values" does not a character make.

But was it an emotional scene? No, it was played for laughs. That wasn't an emotion, that was a special effect.

Optimus is after all a prime which is not weak in the cybertronian language. He has gotten stronger in the past years,Ironhide modified all his weaponary. Read Transformers: The veiled threat. and dude its not Blackout its grindor,two different bots here man.

sigh,watch again the first movie,after fighting with Barricade, Barricade just pengsan like that,there were sparks coming out of Barricade. I dont get why people expect autobots to be loser-bots all the time,sigh.

WTF? What do you mean having 'values' isn't a trait of a character? It doesn't matter if it was played for laughs or not, it showed emotion. Tell me Chaplin or Keaton aren't characters next time you watch their films. And just because it's special effect doesn't make it less of an emotion.

Dragonheart? Sad dragon dying in that movie? That's special effects but also emotion.

I'm a fan of Pixar, so I have no beef about special effects used to show emotion. Bumblebee crying is a gag, not an emotion. He cares about Sam so much that he can't bear to be left behind? Where was he when the kid died?

"Read the comics" is a really really lame justification for plot holes. Is it too much to ask for a movie to have a complete story in itself? We have to spend more money on other junk before it makes sense?

They have values. Believing in justice is a value. Having compassion is a trait.

And where don't get started with the plot holes laa.. that's unfair where was mom pulling sam back when he wanted to risk his life when she was weeping over college?

theres a reason why its called a prequel novel? cmon its not only transformers that work this way,its 2 and half hours taakan the part where optimus gets an upgrade or how Simmons steal all the documents from sector 7 be shown too? in that sense the movie will be more than 4 hours d.
