I think the main problem with Transformers 2 is that it tried to be bigger than itself but it was way too grand even for Michael Bay. I love his works honestly, I think he's awesome when it comes to popcorn Hollywood action movies but this one was too big for him to handle. It seemed that there wasn't a real effort in putting a movie sequel. All that was going through Bay's mind was "insert more action, more robots, more humor, I'm set!" Do they really expect us appreciate the "humor" the robots suddenly possess? I didn't know they could speak in accents and hump! Action scenes were way too messy, getting more robots into fights is not the solution Mr. Bay. And my, the script was awful and Sam's entourage seemed to possess this amazing ability to elude falling rocks and debris. Don't get me started with the ridiculous plot. It's almost the same faults I find with the first movie, only worse. I still enjoyed the movie nonetheless, there were some redeeming scenes and there was Megan Fox, nuff said.
2.5/5

QUOTE(im_bunny @ Jun 27 2009, 01:30 PM) When i first watched the Transformer - the cartoon version, Autobots almost always win in the end... but never as kickass as then in the movie version... Action-wise it was ok... But there is not robot's character development in the TF2 and you hardly know who is who.... Take out all those redundant human characters like Leo and less time to the Sam's parent (esp the non-essential hostage plot) and give time to introducing the robots... I would love to see more times to robots transforming to their vehicle mode... Bay obviously didn't know what he wanted with this sequel. He didn't focused on the robots, i think he didn't bother in the first place. What he did with the human characters were ok though, I like the parents' scenes but the hostage part was really laughable.

QUOTE(kobe8byrant @ Jun 28 2009, 11:35 PM) They have values. Believing in justice is a value. Having compassion is a trait. And where don't get started with the plot holes laa.. that's unfair where was mom pulling sam back when he wanted to risk his life when she was weeping over college? maka, characters or not? Whaa? Don't get me in this.

I gave a 2.5/5 and I don't completely hate it. For what it's worth, I still consider it an entertaining movie. Low expectations really help I think Bay made a mess with TF2. There were so many things going on that doesn't even made sense. I read from my friend that the Pentagon is in Virginia and not in DC as filmed, and the whole geographical issue of Egypt, Jordan, etc. He obviously incorporated what he thought was more "fun" to the movie with the expense of the robot's characterization. I still can't get over the fact that they could speak in accents, hump, and joke? I think the robots just didn't had enough time to develop the "characters" but if you'd cared for Bumblebee and Prime, it's obviously because they had characters, even at the minimal.

QUOTE(xin @ Jun 30 2009, 01:41 PM) nah, its not a standalone..its a trilogy ..so i'll wait till TF3 is done Nonsense. How will TF3 affect your views on TF2? All the other great trilogies were great as standalones as much as a trilogy. TF2 failed in both.

Pfft, since when pinpointing 10 mistakes in a movie (when some of them are so damn obvious) makes you stupid? Find fault in movies like The Godfather, Casablanca, and see if anybody call you stupid. Damn, some of you should really stop giving excuses of "switching off your brains" to watch this movie and just accept this movie has flaws. It doesn't mean that you can't like it, but stop denying oh god!

QUOTE(BelowAverage @ Jul 1 2009, 08:04 PM) for those speaking of logic in the plot. Dude, watching giant robots from other space wacknig each other is no where near logical, and u guys are complaining about where did the socks appear. Wow Star Wars had clones, droids, jedis, siths and no one complains about that because it was way too good as an action and a sci-fi fictional movie. Same goes to Star Trek, and other superhero movies. It doesn't need to be human logical, just need to be movie logical. This post has been edited by Makakeke: Jul 1 2009, 08:10 PM

I just did the geekiest thing a non fanboy could have done - a back to back Transformers The Movie and Transformers in HD. Looking back, TF1 is so much better than TF2 and that's not so surprising isn't it?

QUOTE(Haruhi @ Jul 3 2009, 06:37 PM) Watched it earlier and all I gotta to say is this: DON'T BELIEVE THE CRITICISMS! RT and co. has always been rough towards Bay's films since like, The Rock, and I have to say their sense don't apply to the general audience of this country. In every Megan Fox and transformation scene there is alot of hoo-haa going on in the cinema and the "WoooooooH!" cheer somehow annoyed me. Comedic relief as usual was lame, just like the first movie and the best I could was to crack a smile, But I believe alot of people would be entertained, especially teenagers. TF1: 7/10 TF2: 6.5/10 So teenagers are the standard and not the critics?

I re-watched the Spiderman trilogy too these few days and it was still one level higher than the Transformers franchise. 1st one was great, but the sequel brought it down together.
