good, i like the fact that this deal concluded early. now TV can have more time together with the team before the season start. add the fact that we'll have a harder Champions League qualifying matches this year, it is a very good indeed that we conclude this deal as early as this
welcome to the Arsenal Thomas. play well, and it won't be long before Gooners all around the word call you the Verminator |

I find it very interesting that a lot of people thinks he's not good enough for us, including the previous remarks by Tony. The so-called pundits tend to get influenced too much by various articles and hoohah posting concerns about his height. I don't understand why everyone thinks a central defender must be 3 metres tall - there has been many great defenders who are around Vermy's height. Welcome Thomas the Verminator... Looking good there in our new pyjamas ![]() ![]() May you terminate all the vermin plaguing English football !! This post has been edited by StarGhazzer: Jun 20 2009, 07:48 AM |

yes! welcome verminator! ahahahah... curious to see him in action.
now, with his arrival, i think Gallas or Toure is on the way out. I think it's most likely will be Gallas and Senderos though. If we can get $4M for Gallas and $5M for sendy, then that's good business. BUT... my gut feeling is telling me, it's gonna be Toure out the door. ManCity preparing to table a $10M bid for him and it'll be foolish if AW didn't consider it. Retain Gallas and Senderos, let go Toure. ANC is coming and we all know we'll be missing players for 2 months. Better to have Senderos as back up, than Silvestre. So, are we gonna sign a DM/CM next? |

QUOTE(ncool15 @ Jun 20 2009, 08:47 AM) Fiorentina seems to be interested in him.Maybe he can be used as part of the deal to bring Melo here? That's what the tabloids say and probably due to the fact that we're being linked with Melo. I don't recall anyone from the Viola camp showing interest in Sendy, well at least in an obvious manner. Who knows, the clubs might have been dealing under the table. QUOTE(sakaito @ Jun 20 2009, 10:23 AM) now, with his arrival, i think Gallas or Toure is on the way out. I think it's most likely will be Gallas and Senderos though. If we can get $4M for Gallas and $5M for sendy, then that's good business. 10M for Kolo? And 4M for Willy is pure blasphemy. Absolutely no way, especially when Glen Johnson costs so much more. There's no reason why we have to let any of our current CBs leave after Vermy's arrival. There's no logic in letting go of our African players just because of ACN, in fact it's the very reason why we should aim to keep as many players as possible. BUT... my gut feeling is telling me, it's gonna be Toure out the door. By the way, this source claims that the deal is 10-12M Euros rather than pounds. So depending on which you believe, Vermy's cost is around the region of 8-12M pounds. Good business in today's inflated market. DM/CM... the loudest name mentioned now is Melo, but from the looks of it this rumour is more similar to Inler's rather than Vermy's, if you get what I mean. Anyway, Villa's not for sale... Not that we can afford to buy him in the first place. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/footbal...et-1710427.html |

interesting... have been reading some blogs overall...
how about this... we keep all our players! yeah! the most interesting idea came from a comment in soccernet. we should be happy to sign vermaelen and should stick with senderos and gallas. Reason ? Move Kolo to CM/DM. whoaa... now.. i know Kolo used to be a striker and i think the idea is not far fetch. Maybe AW is mooting this idea because he did try Kolo in some midfield position last year. I think having Kolo at CM/DM could possibly solve our problem! we've been speculating high and low, but the best possible answer is right in front of us! Having Toure at CM/DM should be our best option. He got the right qualities and he should be able to work well with Cesc and the defense. Also, this will allow Denilson/Song to be rotated into that role. This should be better for them as they fight for their places in the 1st team. Toure is the perfect mentor, if u ask me. It'll be perfect for Djourou and Senderos too. Gallas will be their mentor and they could be ease onto the line up and improve. I think it's vital that we re-sign Gallas in order to add experience to the team. so, the 1st eleven should look like :- -Almunia- Sagna-Gallas/Djourou-Vermealen-Clichy Walcott-Cesc-Toure-Arshavin-Nasri -RVP- note that i didn't include Ade because i think he's on the way out. CB Backups? assuming Senderos is back, we have abundance of backups. Sendy, Djourou, Song (can play CB what), Silvestre, Nordveit. RB and LB should be fine with Clichy, Sagna, Eboue, Gibbs and Traore. huh... suddenly our squad ain't so bad after all. Midfield and up front? we have abundance of talent and qualities!! Rosicky is coming back, we still have Bischoff, Ramsey, Wilshere, Denilson, Diaby (urgh), Eboue, Eduardo, Vela, Bendtner. How about up and coming kids? Watts, JET, Simpson, Randall, Barazite? hmm.... i think 1 more signing would do good for the team... but i can't blame AW if he decided to stop now and concentrate on pre season. |

Kolo will never be used regularly as DM due to below reasons
1. he's not a DM 2. he doesn't have the stamina to play there 3. he's not really having the best positioning sense 4. le Boss said so and i'm with SG in this, there's no way we should let Billy G and Kolo out of the club for 4 and 10 million pound respectively. there are worth more than that. individually, there are among the best central defenders in the league they certainly worth more than that in the world where Chelsea and Liverpool bid almost 19 million pound for Glen Johnson This post has been edited by toshio14: Jun 20 2009, 11:09 AM |

i agree partially with sakaito on this. kolo has after all played in almost every position there is, apart from GK, he might be able to play as DM. then again, arsene knows better, and if he says no, it means no. ah well. and on the no selling thing, i guess ade and eboue will go. i want gallas and kolo to stay, IF i had to sell one, it would be kolo. sorry, but i feel since the ANC 2 years back, he has not been the same. gallas on the other hand, became better after being stripped. humiliated, perhaps, but played better. i dont want him to go. wow, i cant believe i said this. i hated his guts when he first came.
