Yeah I know hence the "Or have we?"

Even if its posted on Soccernet.com but not Arse.com I still won't be convinced. Seems that now the only thing preventing the move from being completed is his contract demands.

Arsenal agree fee with Ajax but talks over Vermaelen’s personal terms stalled
Anyway any defensive signing is welcome for me at the moment IMO. Many people complain about his height but IMO you don't necessarily have to be the tallest to be a good defender. Puyol comes to mind and even Gallas and Toure aren't the tallest of defenders to begin with either.
*
Second that.
Ayala,Cannavaro,Cordoba isnt really tall but they are great defenders. Its true that our CB gets bullied in air battle but if we take a closer look on the goals conceeded, half of them are because of lack of concentaration. So if this Vermalen guy can organise the defend well and keep his full concentration on the game,it will be awesome.

What about Sanderos? Is he gonna play for Arsenal  this season?
*
Fiorentina seems to be interested in him.Maybe he can be used as part of the deal to bring Melo here?

I still think that Milan's offer is the most beneficial for us if the offer is genuine.

Did Milan really made any offer for ADE??

Selling ADE would only make us go step-backward and the coming 2009/2010 season would be another season to learn mistakes from..The lad showed that he can be a deadly striker provided he's working hard on the pitch.Chamakh...He's good in the air, dribbling at good pace plus he kinda pacy too and is link up play is good too but he lacks 1 very important attribute in a striker.Thats finishing.

so if AW really wants to sell ADE,he should get someone in teh class of Huntelaar.

is Huntelaar really that good? i admit i did not watch him play for a long while now but from my memories i remember him being the poacher type of a striker. can someone who really watch Huntelaar on the more frequent occasions give their assessment to how well / not well Huntelaar will fit into our current team?

if he is indeed a poacher type of striker, did we not already have a very good 1 in the form of Dudu?
*
I id bot watcgh him play that much but he's been rated very highly in other Arsenal forums and his stats speaks for himself.

looks like all the clubs interest to add wenger players for part exchange...first viola now the france club

Is Cana really rthat good.Their new coach Deschamps seems never rate him that highly.I never saw him play except that Youtube Vid which highlights the best of out him.You know,Youtube could also make Diaby look like a world beater. smile.gif

Well i heard some of you guys suggesting Shavva and RVP partnership upfront. This partnership would not work because Robin isn't excatcly a great finisher and he'll get outmuscled by big CB.I would prefer shavva playing at LW as he have more influence on the game from that position. So my suggestion is that this formation gonna be a hit.

Dudu---RVP

Shavva---DM---Cesc---Rosicky

Shavva,RVP,Cesc and Rozza can all pull some nice string of passes and once Dudu's fit,he's gonna score goals like robot. This guy doesn't have the physical presence of the big ade but his off the ball movement is very good and his finishing you know.

Er... Which RVP have you been watching? He's got the best left foot in the prem at the moment. His shots are at a blistering pace and almost unstoppable at times. He improved his right peg (or chocolate leg as he calls it) tremendously last season.

Finsihing cooly, ala Eduardo or Henry does not mean that they are better finishers. Robbie Fowler was said to be the best finisher in the game 10 years ago, but I remember he almost always went for power rather than placement. Heck, even Alan Shearer who had 3 seasons back to back with 30 goals never bothered with placement.

Sorry mate. Have to disagree with you the RVP part. Arshavin and RVP up front might work, if Arshavin is able to draw out the centrebacks left right centre, leaving RVP to do the finishing (which I know he is capable of).
*
Yea...He got freakin good left foot.

But how many sitters had he missed this season??How many clear cut chances he missed? For me Ade is more efficient in terms of scoring than Robin. But Robin is an exceptionally talented player IMHO.He's more of supporting striker than poacher. We need a poacher to score goals.

ade more efficient? huhu... did u see the 2 yard miss? poacher we got.. his name is dudu. wink.gif
*
He did missed those chances and also scored bro.We all know Ade's finishing isn't on par with Dudu or Villa but he's more efficient in terms of scoring than Robin.Robin is more of supporting striker so i would be surprised if he's deployed as the main CF next season.I would prefer him be our next DB10.

DM its not all about size. Its about how you intercept play, break up opponent, tackling and most important of all reading the game.Great DM's have this ability to read the game perfectly such as Dunga,Mascherano,Makelele etc.

It's a huge statement from Hleb about Wenger. As much as I believe that Wenger does well in creating talents, the maturity and consistency of the team would be the key elements for success. I don't think the departure of Ade would be costly as RVP, Eduardo, Vela and Bendtner can fill in the shoes of Ade easily. Let the season begin and we shall see!

Go Gunners!

Its not gonna be that easy bro.Ade is our main striker.Bendtner still inconsistent,Dudu still haven't finish a full campaign,RVP just had an injury-free season.Just hope all our players will be fit for the whole season.Adding a recognised striker will be good but a CM that can do all the dirty work to partner Cesc would be the main priority.

well.. nasri did a good job playing CM last season but still he lacks strength. he got the stamina though.

cesc looked leaner and cleaner! biggrin.gif
*
He did a good job?remember Anelka's run at Emirate?Nasri was watching as Anelka run pass him and fired a shot. The midfield trio of Nasri-Cesc-song was totally over-ran by Man Utd.Its an horrible decision to play him there imho.I would prefer him in attacking midfield role.
