Throw the question to maxis, how are we going to know the data usage for the ivalue1 plan if they claim apple 3gs's data meter usage is not accurate? For me,500 mb is a lot for retrieving email.
Guys, any idea how to know how much data usage is use on the iphone?
Migrate from Digi just because of the iphone!

Migrate from Digi just because of the iphone! you can check from the phone menu itself .. Settings --> General --> Usage My usage is normally around 1GB / month and that's already consider heavy ..without any tethering ... This post has been edited by sn0wle0pard: Oct 29 2009, 11:21 AM

Yep, best way is to put garbage in the APN settings.. as even if you can't turn off edge.. it still can't access anything.. you can do it manually, so no JB needed (provided you installed the carrier bundle)

.. Settings --> General --> Usage on the iphone consider as unrealiable.that is according to maxis customer support. say something like 65% accurate! cannot answer back when ask to them, where to monitor?

Actually I've questioned them back, why is it that in the bill they can clearly see my data usage but they can't tell me/allow me to check what my data usage is.. Their reply is " we don't offer such a service" ... makes me wonder, how then do we monitor our usage, if they claim the IPhone one is unreliable.. or maybe that is the whole point.

Instead only disable 3G and forgot about gprs/EDGE. Maxis is also partly to be blame for not telling users this. This post has been edited by sn0wle0pard: Oct 29 2009, 05:41 PM

@tnsai, R u still having billing issues with Maxis on your data charges? It's been 2 months since I've swapped over from an Unlimited Plan to a 500MB data plan and I haven't had any issues whatsoever with over billing.
Also, the counter on my iPhone sure seems rather accurate; unlike what other forummers here are stipulating *shrugs*

After approximate of 1 month usage, i found that is quite hard for me to used up to 30mb bandwidth out 500mb per month that maxis provided. Im doing normal stuffs eg, ping!, IM, surfing, FB and etc, of cause i rarely use GPS.
Was wandering how come some user can hogged up 500mb in a day or two..

@fylon, If you use it to Internet Tether and start downloading stuff, 500MB is definitely not enough! For me, I have yet to breach the 100MB mark since I started using the iPhone

@tinkerbel Thats true. Found that the 500mb is actually more then enough for purely mobile internet access. Of cause excluded tethering & heavy down.
But since we are already been told by provider about the limit of the package before we signed, one have to have be caution when using it.
Btw, did the iphone cellular network data counter counts the bandwidth that been tethered out too?

I had about 50mb usage before i restored my phone.. 32mb of that is paid for in the bill last month.. so I should have used about 100mb used i'll see if that is reflected accurately when the bill comes..
