@ryan_giggs,
You can continue with some form of data plan when your current contract ends; also it's not going to end soon plus by the time it ends, you'll be so used to having the world at ur finger tips U probably don't want to let go of 3G.

As to how to change APN, please refer to the pinned threads.

Sigh, it's not the fear of using cellular network on IPhone, it is to allow us to control our usage.. even if so.. I got money, I like, I buy the Iphone.. what's it to you??

Can the IPod touch make calls? can it sms??? yawn.gif no? Does it have GPS? no? So, just leave your own comments to yourself.

Maxis has done it again, over billing me for data usage eventhough i am on the RM88 plan and I am well below the usage. Apparently I did not activate the plan when I called them last time, of which I am 100% certain that I did because I made sure the CS repeated the confirmation. Right now, I am waiting for their manager to call me back. This is too much. Been a loyal customer of Maxis for 8 years and this is the kind of shit I get.

The 1st time this happened was in July when I activated the RM99 unlimited package (discontinued since) and overcharged for July, Aug and Sept because apparently it was not activated when I called up in Sept to ask about my bill. To cut a long story short, I told them to check back their voice recordings and the result of that was, they refunded me RM400 plus for overpayment.

I am not a person that checks the bill every month but from now one, I will because of what they are doing and how their stupid system works!

I don't get what you are on about, I never complained on the connectivity of the IPhone etc.. In fact I like that it keeps looking for the connection I want to access the net when I WANT IT TO. I am just offering my help to people who wants to control their usage hence I advice the use of fake APN settings.

We ARE all pissing about the plan rate, not so much about the IPhone's connection and hence people are looking for a way to make sure they don't overuse.

Learn to read please.

I would say, the phone should not take the blame as it work in the way it should be. But instead, the problems came from the data plan.

Nowadays, people are going for ALL-IN-ONE device where by it save your time and hassle. What is the point of bringing an iPod & Nokia 3310 together where u got the opportunity of having an iPhone that can do all the thing right.. wink.gif

lol... MAXIS really never improve one..

I was a Maxis 3G unlimited user too (after i get my iphone 3G in Aug '08).. and the same thing happened to me.
I chose the Value 50 + 99 unlimited plan, so, after adding the 5% service tax, the 1st month bill came out immediately exceed RM150 credit limit and they barred my phone.

I called to them immediately and scolded the operator "hard hard".. then only they increased my credit limit to RM200...

Anyway, I shifted to Celcom's Executive 20 plan + RM98 unlimited data plan in Dec '08 as it is cheaper to me..  rolleyes.gif

i want to know...
i want to take the ivalue 100 which the iphone 3gs will cost 1990..
if i dont even use the maxis number, do i will be charged more than 100??
have anyone experience that??

@ichuck,
If U don't use, meaning you're going to forgo the entire RM100 p/month for the duration of the contract, it is cheaper for U to buy the phone at a higher price from the 'black market'.

And to answer ur question, U will be charged RM100 + whatsoever Value Added Service u added + 5% GST so ur bill will probably come to about RM100+

@ichuck,
The Value Added Services I mention are things like itemised billing, etc. Yes it is possible to completely turn of data services on the iPhone.

@ichuck,
No, if U don't intend to use the line at all then u won't haf to worry about overuse of call charges and SMS charges, etc. It is things like call forwarding, call waiting, itemised billing, etc. Just cancel those and I think your bill should be RM100+5% GST.

@ichuck,
As part of the iValue plans, if U don't use more than what is given to U then no need to pay extra. If you use extra then U just haf to pay.
