omg..omg.. isaw some bill from those forgotten off 3G data..when bills here..they cry out

There is a line written "max charge @RM250/mth"...does it means maxis will only charge you RM250/month max others will deduct out?

I just got my iphone, i m worry about the shock bill in the coming month. I am with the Maxis iValue1, 1GB .

My question is, if I on the facebook, yahoo mail and MSN all the days non stop, will my data usage exceed 1GB? should I turn off all the notification or push?

yup.. maximun charges for data is RM250 per month.

u have 1GB .....divide by 30day = u almost got 30mb per day to use.....


if u are on facebook + keep viewing Picture.....it easily can reach 30mb per day.....if surfing forum with load picture...it will eat up ur data quite fast also.......but if surfing lowyat forum / MSN / Yahoo mail....then u hard to reach 30mb per day

i always on my notification push on facebook , ping chat ......it won't eat up ur data very much de.....


LOAD image = data use more
Download / upload = data use more

i using le 10++ day with email / facebook / lowyat forum , not even 100mb yet =.=".....

I also got the same problem now, sent and received both 4gb :|

hopefully its just a bug, I wlll get my bill later this week. will confirm.

iOS 4.1 now can completely turn of cellular data. So should be a solve to the problems now. =)

Oh I know already why u pay so high, i called maxis and they explained to me that for 1GB data they calculate not just received but sent also


Example:-


Sent (117MB) + Received (942MB)= 1059MB

1GB = 1024MB

so extra usage 1059 - 1024 = 35 MB

RM0.05/10kb = RM0.005/kb

35MB = 35 x1024 kb = 35840kb

SO how much you have to pay extra = 35840kb x RM0.005 = RM179.20


ivalue1, first month , maxis doest rebate your prepayment of RM40 only start second month,


So how much you have to pay for first month RM100 + RM179.20 = RM279.20 + Tax

Phew...I just checked my usage and it shows around 4GB for sent and received. Got so shocked...cos earlier tonight it was just 230MB

Luckily it's just a bug...

Maxis is suck blood telco bro...haha
anyway u can install data usage apps for blocking data when reach certain level u set

For email, you should be fine. Like above post said, you have 30MB per day.
For push notification, it is just a few text, very low bandwidth, don't need to turn it off.
There is a problem with your 1GB limit when you browse tons of pictures or view youtube or FB video on daily basic. Video is really the killer, a few minutes of youtube/FB video can easily takes 20MB-50MB. NEVER view video if you don't want a bill shock or view it only when you are using wifi.

I'm on digi rm63 plan, if i turn on d "cellular data" and "Enable 3G" for 24/7, will i get additional charge? since digi said no extra charge if quota is over (reduce speed only), hence there should not be a GPRS charge, right?

Yeah they charge RM5.12/MB, after 1024MB (1GB) for iValue1

Just now i asked Maxis Center if can change/upgrade to iValue2, they said cannot, not until we served our 12/24months contract

don't worry. DiGi won't charge even if u turn it on 365 days. GPRS EDGE 3G are all data services family. u can video call forever if u need to under DiGi plan.

but u hv to be cautious. if u r under GPRS or EDGE connection and at the same time u use thesef data services, the person who call u will get voicemail notification. meaning u cannot receive call when u downloadING via GPRS or EDGE.

Even you have exceeded the data quota allocated, you will still get back full speed during off peak hour ( 8pm to 8 am )

Wont charge extra as stressed by other helpful forumers. Just something to add, when exceeds monthly cap it will only slow down your speed. Instead of 3G maybe you can reach EDEGE speed only perhaps?
