i would like to kno.. the usage of the cellular network data it's calculate only received or both??

guys, ever since i upgrade my firmware to 3.1.3 yesterday, my credit just flies. i off all the possible things such as 3g and so on but my credit still decreases. i didnt even use that much. help.

I am currently a PREPAID user( maxis ) , and is having a 3gs ( warranty by maxis ) . I find my prepaid going down very fast , as in RM 20 a day . Reason is where i click on some apps , they charge me straight away ( stocks, weather , certain games ) . Is there a way where i can shut off the 3g or for me not to go online other than using the wifi where there is wifi area ? Does jail break helps and making me play most of the games ( tap tap revenge ) without being charged ?

This is probably a really stupid question but to check my total data used, do I combine sent and received data or?

shutting of 3G will not help. You need to off the EDGE/gprs as well but it can't be done without jb your phone. Even some who have jb theirs are still unable to figure out how to block the date leak. A fail safe method is to ask the telco to block it on their side.

the EDGE/gprs setting is available thru SBSetting rite ? did you install that ?

Tap More on your SBSettings and inside tap Set Toggles, you'll see something like this.


And then I suggest you install fakeAPN for SBSettings as well throught Cydia.
Can be found under Sections > SBSettings Add-on.


And then you use Safari and go unlockit.co.nz and download a fake APN profile for your iPhone system.


After few days, my data only 1KB each for both send and receive.

Hi!, You can try this few simple steps:

1) Go to Settings, switch Notifications to Off.
2) Inside Settings, go to General and switch Location Services to Off.
3) Inside Settings, go to Mail, Contacts, Calendars, switch Fetch New Data to Off.
4) For extra safety when you have access to Wifi, go to setting and switch Airplane Mode to On if you just want to surf the net. Please be aware that you won't be able to receive call with this mode On. Remember to switch it Off after you're done with the net.

lol thats not how you do it.. what you have is just fake APN on while data is still running.(look at your data ip, it should be empty if data block is on)

you need to set the 3g, edge and data toggles on first so the buttons appear in SBSettings. Then IN SBSettings, switch 3g, 3dge and data OFF while Fake APN on.

But my data isn't running now.
I assumed that by off-ing those in Toggles mean it off everything already since my data isn't moving at all.

Regarding to the data usage issue, I found the solution. I restore the phone, and after that, iTunes asked me to update carrier settings and i canceled it. after the restoration, i was able to find Cellular Data Network ( you cant find it if you update carrier settings ) then i erase all the APN and tethering and now its back to normal, no more decrease in credit.

combined. upload + downloads = total data usage

your data isnt running because you have fake APN on. data toggle is a different thing, which is still left off but since fake APN is on, it does the job.

for extra protection, you should enable both toggles; then on fake APN and off Data

Just off-kan all the option you have.

Which mean what appearing on the front page of SBSettings is what's running?
So we have to toggle it ON to let it appear on the front page, then toggle it OFF on the front page to make things happen?

I sign up for Maxis iValue 1 about a month ago..now waiting for my 1st bill on 24th..
Really nervous..hope the data didn't differ much from the data usage in iphone..

running on 3.1.3v..non-JB.. will update the bill info once i get it ..

I am running on 3.1.3 non JB-ed also. Bought without contract. Any essentials I need to know? How do we turn off data/network if we don't want to use them? Is SBSettings the only way?

only thing you CAN do is disable push/location.

for non jb iphones you should consider a plan - ive been on my plan for 3months (jbed) and no leakage whatsoever.
