I am on prepaid. I am afraid the network would suck my credits dry :S
Also, one more question except for the network , why would someone want to JB their iPhone 3GS?

try canceling the internet service through your respective telco...it will be much better...

But I need the data sometimes, when I am away at campus or something.

ok then you try the sbs setting...if doesnt work ..then the best is apply 250 mb data package for maxis/hotlink...

u guys can remove the the weather and stock apps..
actually that things are make data usage...i mean not delete the apps but the contain..dun put the stock and weather..

I've got the free 500mb data monthly for a year. I think I'll save for the data next year then. I hope it would be enough.

I thought its under the plan? I mean you use or didnt use the data they will still charge you.

The apps cannot remove lol..but the contain...jz remove the list...like the stock apps..i remove all list in there...so no more auto updates for stock...

I just called maxis centre to confirm just now cuz the other day i subscribe to idata2 plan which has 500mb on 17th April.What i learnt is that they will pro rate ur data and ur fee for that month until ur billing date.Its quite confusing.
lets say i activated it on 17th april,then my bill date is 6 may.So 500MB/30 X 20days = 333 MB.

Therefore for that month i can only use 333 MB of data.And the RM 50 will be prorated to RM 33.Thats why some of you might be facing high charges is because of this pro rating thingie.from the 2nd month onwards,it will be as usual.Hope this helps.

for the prepaid plan, as long as your line has validity for that month, you will get free 500mb data every month for the subsequent year upon purchasing the iphone.

this is how i'm using internet on my iphone currently, only thing is i have to switch sim cards each time i wish to do so as my main line is a normal postpaid package.

also, jbing allows access to cydia and winterboard which makes skinning your iphone into an adventure. never again will your iphone look like anyone else's.

I think I should just leave my 2G Jailbroken , and the 3GS on its default state.

Since I am here, I am not sure if this is off topic but just wanna let everyone know my situation.

Currently my iPhone is not able to set Call Forwarding feature, after key in the number, the error message "Could not save call forwarding setting" come out. My SIM is able to set call divert on Nokia though. Done reset n restore n on n off my iPhone, no change. Please let me know (PM if can) if there is a solution for this.

Anyway the main point is here, I decided to call up Maxis Helplinne for the setting/configuration/activation on this.

Me: Hi, I would like to activate and set call forwarding on my iPhone but not able to do so (and so on)

Maxis: YOu are not able to set call forwarding in iPhone (my fren able to do so), and I am not sure how to set it.

Me: Is there any alternative on this?

Maxis: Sorry sir, I am not sure, however you may try Google it for a solution.

Me: ??!! oh ok... (Hang up)

i thought call forwarding is a extra service provided by telco. when you need it, just enable it by informing them. they charge you accordingly. im quite surprise maxis said cannot. perhap they cs is not that helpful or knowledge in these area.

ypu should try not to say u are using an iphone...maybe then they will process it..earlier i wanted to disconnected my friend 3g and at first i say that im using iphone and they said cant..later i called again and said usinf nokia..then the data was cancel no problem...

Have to tell, cuz this is the second call, first call the first cs teach me on how to enable it (the usual way key in *21* bla bla bla) cannot.

Then i suspect is the iphone problem, i seek for help from fren (working as Mac support) and advice me to reboot restore reset everything, done that still the same...

Google around, and some ppl having same issue (some not fixed, some fixed by calling the telco)

So decided to call again, and this is the response.

Bought mine i3GS from Maxis lasy Aug w/o any contract and has been using DiGi sim card all along + unlimited Edge plan. Now that DiGi has launched 3G services, I should be able to connect it under 3G as long as I'm within the coverage area (confirmed with a visit to DiGi centre).

However, I couldn't connect to 3G but Edge instead even within 3G coverage area. According to DiGi CS staff, Maxis i3GS seems to be locked to Maxis only and can't use it with other telcos' 3G services. A quick visit to Maxis says it's DiGi's problem and nothing to do with the phone.

Any1 encountered this and has a solution, please help.
