gps does not use data. but since iphone need to download the google map every time you use the gps, so there's data involved when you use the iphone gps application.

to add, that only applies to the Maps app that comes with the iPhone. using apps like Papago and TomTom with built-in maps will not incur data charges. smile.gif

if you bother to read out previous posts in this thread, the topic on how to disable data usage when you don't need it has been widely discussed (methods, how-tos etc.).

Digi only charge RM149.00 and Maxis RM250.00 maximun for data usage. if your monthly bill is excessively high, it is not because of data usage only. It may comes from call or roaming. It is better to sign up for data package for the people using the smart phone like iphone.

just want to ask (as i couldn't find other thread about it).

i have iphone with data plan. just use it for normal phone call, connect to wifi and surfing, etc etc etc.

want to ask that if i plug my celcom broadband (sim card) to iphone, can it be use on 3G part? i know the phone call unable to use coz my celcom broadband only data plan.

please advise as i dare not try it. been charge RM78++ from celcom - for using around 15MB++ (upload/download) on 3G.

Didi i88 coones with unlimited data with 1gb cap, if u use more than that no extra charges, just that the speed will be very very slow. So it will be safer for those can't control their data usage to commit to digi. I am using maxis ivalue plan with 1gb data, if I use more then they will charge me based on usage. However, the 1gb data reli more than enough for a casual user for email.web browsing and you tube.

iPhone equipped with agos, not the gps chip tjta been used in old phone
. You cam realise this when the log in period is very short n not affected by surrounded building. Thus, when iPhone start it's gps function, network data will be imposed as thy using it mobile data to lock the location. My advise I try not to jailbreak your phone if you don't need to an if you don't know how to use ur phone..

clearly you do not understand what are you purchasing from Digi.

if you actually bothered finding out more about the iDigi plans. data quota is 1GB, any exceeded is free of charge but speed will be throttled. so you do not get overcharged like what happens in Maxis.

Please be less ignorant and be a smart consumer.

thanks for all the great info , i've made my decision , no iphone for me , and hope maxis people die of some horrible and painful disease.

I understand ur feeling of paying extra data usage charges but I bet being a user, u have to understand the rules and regulation. It has been stated that for maxis, when u use more than the data cap, charges will be implied while digi will not abeit the Internet speed will be down to GPRS.
As a user, you have to know to control hour usage and no point u curse them with any serious happenings. iPhone is a smart phone data usage is unavoidable when u ty to use it to surf online. If you are not afford to the data charges, why go for iPhone?
There are so many users in the Market which are satisfy with digi and maxis plan, how they did that? I am a iPhone user and I do think this is a fantastic phone when used properly and I even nver jailbreak it.
Just my two scent...

P/s: cursing maxis ppl like you did show no sense but to tell everyone how kiddo is you
