If you like their service or you trust them, then just go ahead. If you have friends deal with them before, then even better. Just make sure they don't increase the price later you paid the deposit. Or you also can look for those company which provide free 3D drawing and free quotation. Cheers!

QUOTE(Erny_Looi @ Aug 9 2011, 10:20 AM)
I always think, we spend years to build up the reputation, but the power of internet can destroy it in second. So as we are involving in service line, we always try our best. But it is impossible for us to make ALL the customers satisfy..even many businessmen told me this is normal, but we still feel stress when facing all this problem. We never think to take all projects in KL, but we hope that for those ordered their kc from us are satisfy. Regarding the mail reply, designers already try to respond as soon as possible, maybe you can contact them if you are urgent. Sorry to keep u waiting.

Dear Erny,

Please do not think that i wrote my previous post purely to criticize your establishment.
I did point out that your sales person, Eric was helpful and friendly.

Also, it is not right to say that power of internet destroy your reputation.
You built your reputation through the LYN forum /internet (at least your reputation in my mind) because LYN/internet has a huge potential market for your business.
In this modern society, traditional means of advertising such as newspaper, magazines & flyers/pamhlets distribution does not allow you to penetrate the market like the Internet.
Hence, the Internet actually enhance your advertising (don't matter if it was intentional or not). When you take a risk to use Internet, you have to prepare for the disadvantages of it.

I do not expect you to satisfy every one of your customer. Of course, as a business, you have to keep your priorities in-line.
But as I have read throughout this thread, I was under the impression that Unity provides good customer service.
That is why you guys are the first I approached.
If your company is aimed at being customer oriented, you should make sure to maintain the consistency of good customer service.

Just a suggestion, if you were working on processing my request, an email to inform me that "We are processing your request. Please wait (with reasonable time-frame) would be good.

ppl who have had bad experience will definitely tread more carefully. no one needs to feel stressed or offended at all. after all, forums are created to share knowledge and experience.

for lowlowc, I wouldn't consider your KC at all. There are many KC makers out there who's willing to take measurement and give u a quotation without obligation.

I was at the M'sian Furniture and Furnishing Exhibition at KLCC over the weekend and came across one KC who requires 50% upon confirmation and the other 50% BEFORE installation. He kept telling me his price is very low as he's giving FREE granite top !! Then I asked if I have paid the full amt even b4 installation, what will happen if something is not right during/after installation ? His face immediately turned sour, never replied me and I just said thank you and walked off.

He was so friendly initially and this is what I meant in my earlier post. funny how some ppl are...maybe i looked like a dumbo who'll agree to terms like that without questions. hahaha....

Bro magnifizio,

i think it isnt exactly fair to compare the 3 KC makers here by their response time. All three of them did not really advertise their services...most of the advertising came in a form of feedbacks and recommendations from customers, and posting of their end products.

some of them are do not come online as often (as u've noticed steve and Tim have not posted here for some time).

well...if you seek attention, i would suggest to call to arrange appointment at show room/site. cos thats what most of the forumers here did.

Tim's response offline have been decent by so far. and i've called him over to my house to take measurements twice, and twice without fail being on time.

I have also engaged UnityD for quotation. But with all due respect to Erny and team, i did not choose them but chose Tim mainly because he's closer to where i stay and 1st time meeting was pleasant. (erny, excellent response from your design team on the 3D and quotes)

at the end of the day, pick the one you feel most comfortable with AFTER engaging them PERSONALLY, and not online >_<

sorry if my "english" abit harsh... hehe. having brain freeze after lack of sleep last nite tongue.gif

Dear Serofax,

Thank you for your kind & enlightening advice.

Different people have different needs. To me personally, response time frame is a critical criteria. Today, in all main line of businesses, an email is just an important as a phone call or a walk-in customer.

As i mentioned earlier, the post above only depicts my first impressions. And my first contact was made through email. Hence, my first impressions were ONLY based on response time frame.

Just to clarify.

Added on August 9, 2011, 2:28 pmHi to all,

I received the photos that i requested today at 2.16pm.

I think I can guess which kc is that. Only C or A gives free granite but A hardly seen in fair. The one i'm negotiating now is A. Is there a kc that provides free measuring before placing any booking? Last time at fair, another request I pay 500 first too.

good guess...u've done your homework too. in fact, that fella kept pestering me to pay a deposit b4 i had a chance to ask abt pymt terms. i asked how much. he said any amt. I went like "what ???". what do u mean by "any" amt ? Can i pay RM10 then ? To which he then said RM500 or RM300, up to u la. funny right how some companies train their sales ppl ?

lowlowc, i always thought measurement is free. No ? Coz none of those i've asked to come for measurement actually told me it's chargeable. so i take it as FREE and WITHOUT OBLIGATION.

Sue.chan, Serofax, i'll continue to scout for other kc with free measuring. kiv my current kc and tell them I want measuring, 3d drawing and quotation before paying. My colleague actually laughed at me, saying she only pay rm50 booking and everthing after job done.

Sometimes i found that forumer here a bit exaggarate and they just want to promote their favourite company. Some would said that Company A is so good in these lah in that lah but it might not turn up the same. So dont trust the feed back wrote by the forumer here as we do not know who is genuine. Dont limit ourselves in the KC here. They are so many out there that we can try and compare.

QUOTE(lowlowc @ Aug 9 2011, 10:27 AM)
A forumer posted this question before but no answer given. My kc installer ask for 10% to book them (before coming to measure). After measurement they want me to give 50%. Is this a standard payment term in this line? For ppl already install kc, did you hold on some payment until you're sure therr's no defect after 2 weeks?

Need answer asap because I need to pay booking tml. If 10% I would be paying 900.

That day I asked whether I can get the quotation once pay 10%, they said no need cause it's just an estimation. Final quotation only give after measurement. Is this safe? Sorry, no offence to honest contractor/kc installer out there. It's just that I had bad experience before.
*
WOW a lot of queries!! ok one by one. most of the standard approach for walk-in customers to showroom they will ask u to provide a floor plan and they will estimate the costs of the cabinet, once u're satisfy with the material thinggy then they will ask u to have booking fees to enable them to go over ur house to take the measurements once measurement confirmed then then the quote is OK then deal have to place 40-50% from the total amount to lock in and the works shud proceed to the factory > order the materials > waiting for the installations > all DONE > balance payments. that's the lower and medium end KC manufacturer practices. Higher end confirmed before measurement already 30-40% once measurement done the 3D drawing was completed then before installation already call for 2nd payment 30-40% again > everything done > final payment. AS I SAID IN PREVIOUS COMMENT RM 50 deposit until DONE only pay balance is UNBELIEVABLE !!!
