How I wish my dad likes photography too!

Btw, if you have SB 600. Then use it for the time being la. When you have the budget then only upgrade.

Haha you also scorpio! Ya lah, I also think I should use the SB 600..

Some may like to shoot with primes. But you only have kit n zoom. In this case I would recommend you to snap with kit lens. There's not many tips except to shoot and keep shooting. Take as many as possible and bring extra batteries as well as memory cards. Perhaps you want to shoot with RAW too! smile.gif

for me i need the flexibility of having the extra megapixels because i need to crop quite a lot for some pics and still have the quality for large sized printing..so i went for d60.

Probably the best choice for low fund users.
You can get a new D40 at Rm1500~RM1700 (or second hand even cheaper, 900~1200). Most 2nd hand are always taken good care by the ex-user, like mine, if you're lucky you find D40 with a few months warranty left or with extra things (I got a free tripod and extra battery).

Why getting D40? Cuz D40 is cheap, although with only 6 megapixels, but it's very sufficient for large prints and megapixels don't affect image quality (unless it's only 2MP then it is doh.gif).
D40 also has higher flash sync speed up to 1/500, but D60 is only 1/200.

After getting D40 instead of D60, you might have extra money. Save it and invest in your FLASH GUN. External flash is very essential for taking photographs like portraiture especially in dark condition.

And don't forget you might not satisfy with kit lens, so after a few months you might want to upgrade your lens to zoom lens or get a prime lens or whatever lens you like. So if you are not funded it's advisable for you to get a D40 and save for other accessories.

Other things you need after getting D40:
1. Flash gun
2. Rechargeable batteries for your flash gun (can use cap ayam but the recycle time is long and the battery drains real fast)
3. Tripod (for night shot, slow shutter speed shots)
4. Camera bag (to protect your camera and lenses when you are going out, and it's not cheap e.g. Lowepro) ---- optional
5. Dry cabinet (to protect your camera and lenses from humidity, so fungus won't grow) --- Optional
6. Extra camera battery pack (spare battery when your primary battery runs down)
7. Filters (UV filter/ND etc)
.... and there are a lot else...

If you want to save more get the D40, which is already discontinued so you might wanna hunt around the internet to get it. The D60 is widely available in the market though, so it's really easy to get.

Yea, even my D60 is set at 6MP. Aiya, don't scare the guy lah! You list out so many things that you need after getting a D40 LOL.. that'll cost a bomb. Usually tripod, UV filter, and camera bag will be received free, most shops/dealers got package. Dry Cabinet can be made yourself.
