Congratz on V5! thumbup.gif I'm using D60, my next target is a flash! But under strict budget of RM400+-. I want to get SB600 but money not enough sweat.gif By the way, I tried my cousin's Nissin Di622 that she used for her Canon 450D, it cannot function on my D60. Why?
*
SB-600 is a very good performer! You'll have to double your budget to get the SB-600 sweat.gif. You might wanna raise up the cash by RM100 or so for a SB-400 but it looks.. puny.

Why not get a Falcon Eyes DPT386-AFZ flash gun instead.. it looks roughly like a SB-600 and according to users it's pretty decent. It's also cheap at <RM400 new. Go and hunt for it in the Garage Sales, got a few sellers/supplier over there!

Hi guys.. I have a Nikon D60.. I would like my name to be added to the list of D60 owners please biggrin.gif

Does anyone know where to buy lens hood..? The one I use for my 18-200 VR is broken already >.<

Also, can anyone recommend which 3rd-party flash gun would be better, a Nissin Di622 or a Falcon Eyes DPT-386 AFZ..?

wan add name nid inform Kimurastanley, but he'll c your post anyway tongue.gif
wow, u got the 18-200VR ah? drool.gif
Shashinki.com got sell the hood, but maybe u can find cheaper price elsewhere
about the 3rd party flash, i dunno cos nvr use b4, u hav to ask those using it
*
Yeah.. thanks biggrin.gif

thanks for telling me the website, will check it out!

QUOTE(zellleonhart @ Jun 19 2009, 09:58 PM)
Wait kimura add you in =)
You can try shashinki.com, see whether they got sell or not.
Or J-One in Amcorp Mall PJ.

I am a di622 user, from my experience it's a quite decent flash gun, strong enough, got attached bounce card, and cheaper than sb600 (around rm450)...

Just one thing, it's big, and the AF assist light is not corresponding to the angle the lens is pointing. visit the nissin di622 thread for more info~
*
But the newer Di622 fixed already right the AF assist light angle? I can see that it's rather big sweat.gif from side view it might look like its taller than the D60 body itself >.<

QUOTE(illegaldragon87 @ Jun 19 2009, 10:56 PM)
i havent use falcon eyes be4, but i owned a Nissin Di622... i lik the outcome tat it produced... for me, i think itz a good flash... the oni prob for me is itz too bulky...  sad.gif
*
Nissin Di622 seems to be recommend by alot of ppl.. thanks anyway biggrin.gif

the problem now is how to tell whether you're buying the "newer fixed Di622" and not the old stock? cause there's a lot of old stocks out there for all i now ..

need to test in a completely dark room to really make sure..and cant really do that at shop..

@latias93 ..can post a picture of your D60 with 18-200VR? side view and top view..and maybe an angled view.

considering either a new sigma 18250 os hsm or a used tammy 18270 (cant really find any) or a used 18200vr
*
That's why I am abit takut to buy the Di622.. not sure how to tell between new and old one..

Here are the pictures attached, taken with my old PnS camera.

BTW in case anyone is curious it was shot inside a lightbox I made myself when I was Form 1 to take pics of my Hot Wheels sweat.gif

Surely must be longer.. and heavier.. and more expensive.. either way.. sounds scary if I attached the Tamron and Sigma ones to my wee D60 body hmm.gif

I cannot imagine attaching a Tamron 18-270VC to my D60.. if I add a Nissin Di622 my D60 will be belittled.. maybe if add a battery grip it would look more 'reasonable'. But crap it's gonna be heavy!

Guys.. I need help.. my D60 + 18-200VR wouldn't take pics in M/A mode.. this happened once before, but suddenly OK already. I don't know what's the problem, I've taken more than 1k pics in M/A mode.. but now only the Manual mode works..

When trying to take pic in M/A mode there is a very soft clicking noise but no picture is taken.. the lens is seated correctly and is clean..

the 18200 is your dad's right? the d60 new or 2nd hand? and do you still have warranty for both?
*
Yea.. the D60 is new. The D60 is only about 1 month old (still newbie here!), yes got warranty. Not sure about the 18-200VR's warranty.. since my dad is mostly outstation. I will test my D60 with other lenses first to narrow down the search of the problem..

.. on a side note, just checked the price of a Nikon HB-35 Lens Hood for the 18-200VR on Shashinki.. RM95.. SO EXPENSIVE for a piece of plastic shocking.gif

LOl guys.. this is weird.. this morning before going to school I saw a security guard who tripped on the road through my window, so I took my cam.. turns out suddenly my camera/lens can snap again in M/A focus mode. It can just go in a moment!

I suspect this is the lens motor, lens motor got such thing as sekejap OK, sekejap tak OK?!

Your camera still under warranty? Maybe send it back to Nikon centre for checking. No harm doing so.  smile.gif

yup i too suspect that it's the lens and u should send it for warranty if there's still one or just send it for repairs. remember to bring your d60 when sending it..ask ur dad 1st if got warranty..
*
OK guys thanks for advice. Maybe when I am free will bring to camera to checkup.. oh wai- I'm too lazy to Google at the moment, can someone just tell me where is the nearest Nikon centre to Petaling Jaya/Mutiara Damansara area?

kit. ic i was wondering if shops in KL like lowyat plaza got cheaper ones. the cheapest i found was RM1.8 k in 1U for Kit...

any secondhand shop to reccomend?
*
RM 1,800 is considered cheap already for a new D60 kit.. most shops still sell at RM2,000. The shop I bought it from a month ago sold it for RM2,350 - but here's the catch. My mom went on an electrical product shopping spree for our new house on Jusco One Utama J-Card Day, and collected like RM2k or so worth of vouchers. So basically my D60 kit is almost free laugh.gif

Hm, I already have a SB-600 (my dad's actually) but people under my horoscope Scorpio don't like to 'share items' haha.. must have their own. Also, I am still a high school student, an SB-900 would be far out of my budget range.. maybe I'll try a third party one first, then maybe next year or so will get SB-900.

Btw, if you have SB 600. Then use it for the time being la. When you have the budget then only upgrade.
*
Haha you also scorpio! Ya lah, I also think I should use the SB 600..

Hi guys, im new here. Currently looking for DSLR around budget RM2k. Whats in my mind now is Nokia D40 and D60..may i know which one is more worth it to get? I have compare both and its does not seem have much different in both except the megapixel. Can anyone enlighten me? tongue.gif
*
If you want to save more get the D40, which is already discontinued so you might wanna hunt around the internet to get it. The D60 is widely available in the market though, so it's really easy to get.

QUOTE(zellleonhart @ Jun 27 2009, 10:27 PM)
Probably the best choice for low fund users.
You can get a new D40 at Rm1500~RM1700 (or second hand even cheaper, 900~1200). Most 2nd hand are always taken good care by the ex-user, like mine, if you're lucky you find D40 with a few months warranty left or with extra things (I got a free tripod and extra battery).

Why getting D40? Cuz D40 is cheap, although with only 6 megapixels, but it's very sufficient for large prints and megapixels don't affect image quality (unless it's only 2MP then it is doh.gif).
D40 also has higher flash sync speed up to 1/500, but D60 is only 1/200.

After getting D40 instead of D60, you might have extra money. Save it and invest in your FLASH GUN. External flash is very essential for taking photographs like portraiture especially in dark condition.

And don't forget you might not satisfy with kit lens, so after a few months you might want to upgrade your lens to zoom lens or get a prime lens or whatever lens you like. So if you are not funded it's advisable for you to get a D40 and save for other accessories.

Other things you need after getting D40:
1. Flash gun
2. Rechargeable batteries for your flash gun (can use cap ayam but the recycle time is long and the battery drains real fast)
3. Tripod (for night shot, slow shutter speed shots)
4. Camera bag (to protect your camera and lenses when you are going out, and it's not cheap e.g. Lowepro) ---- optional
5. Dry cabinet (to protect your camera and lenses from humidity, so fungus won't grow) --- Optional
6. Extra camera battery pack (spare battery when your primary battery runs down)
7. Filters (UV filter/ND etc)
.... and there are a lot else...
*
Yea, even my D60 is set at 6MP. Aiya, don't scare the guy lah! You list out so many things that you need after getting a D40 LOL.. that'll cost a bomb. Usually tripod, UV filter, and camera bag will be received free, most shops/dealers got package. Dry Cabinet can be made yourself.

Guys, I'd like to ask a few questions here.. does anyone know where I can buy replica/3rd party lens hood for Nikkor lenses? If anyone remembers some time ago I stated that my HB-35 hood broke.. it's for my 18-200VR.

Also, my father let me use his SB-600 + Lambency Flash Diffuser (the mangkuk type). What kind of shooting would require/best used with the flash diffuser? Say I were to shoot in a large, enclosed area (stadium), what angle should my flash best be pointed at?
