Hi All,

I've just gotten myself my first DSLR this evening, a Nikon D60.

I almost make a decision to invest on D5000 but after weighting in alot of factors, especially the price, I think I can forgo Movie Mode, 7 point AF, articulate LCD (which is not side hinge) and the D90 sensor. All that for RM1k less is definitely worth it.

I'm sorta looking for some accessories but not too sure which is the best place to look for it in KL/Pudu.

3rd Party accessories also no problem.

1. Hand Straps (definitely 3rd Party)
2. Battery Grip (definitely 3rd Party)
3. LCD Protector (I guess only 3rd Party, don't seems to have what D90 have)
4. Flash (basic with variable angle will do, gonna use card board to diffuse the light or rice paper)

Need to get those item cheap and I might be prowling in the Garage sale for it.

Looking forward to get kimurastanley's gear: the Tamron lens and flashes. I know that without that lens, I can't do bokeh in a non Tele lens...

hi bro,
need some advice from u and all tammy 17-50 f2.8 user's.
i have got 3 buddies using this lense.
d 60 d 80 and d 90 coincidentally.
all of them complaint that tht
1. at times the lense just does not respond as in the body does not detect the lense (e)
2. the motor speed is very slow

i am in the midst of getting this lense but contemplating either tamron 17-50 or sigma 18-50.
i am told that sigma will be a better choice as its motor is faster and also batter sharpness compared to tammy.
please give your review.
hoping to get feedback from both tammy and siggy user's

thanking in advance.

hello bro,
my sincere wishes to you.
a good choice of slr to start in photography.
given choice of d5k and d60 with the price difference you made a smart choice especially if you plan to take this as a passion and not just hobby.

ps: just saw leica m8 and leica safar ltd edition .
its just pure sweetness. but after looking at the price i had to think thrice b4 even touching it!

Welcome to join the family!! rclxm9.gif
For beginner, D60 is enough. Get used to the DSLR function and the aperture, shutter etc settings first. Master your skill on the DSLR and save money for ur next upgrade tongue.gif
U will slowly feel that D60 is not enough for u and u may get D90 or D300 for ur next DSLR. thumbup.gif
D60 kit lens can also do bokeh, u can set @55mm and the bokeh is not bad

i do experienced once that the D60 show "f--" with the lens, but only once.
The motor speed is slower than Sigma bcz sigma has HSM which is equivalent to AF-S, thus the AF is faster. But i still feel OK regarding the AF speed on my Tamron..
I dun think Sigma is sharper than Tamron. Tamron is more popular although it's AF is slower than Sigma purely bcz it produce better IQ than the Sigma. That's what i know about

Try the bokeh of Tamron 17-50mm F/2.8....

The tamron is definitely sharper than the kit lens, here's some sample(unedited except resize)

This lens is sharpest after stop down to f/4.5 although f3.5-4 is also sharp enough

from what i've read .. f4 is sharp enough, but the tammy 1750 is very sharp at 5.6..

4-5.6 is the magic number for the tammy 1750 f2.8 biggrin.gif

I recommend u to buy class 6 SDHC because the speed is faster than class 4.
4gb i think is about RM40++. Just check the pricelist from computer shop will do.
