maybe i can start shooting and then post up the pics and ask what went wrong with my shots... boy oh boy.... now very excited dee....hehe... alpha dude, can post some pics with tamron lens that u bought? and maybe post pics using the normal kitlens... i wanna see the difference between 18-55 kitlens vs 17-55 f2.8 tamron... thanks... QUOTE(alpha_company @ May 12 2009, 03:56 PM) start shooting.. hehe btw, get a flash first.. either 3rd party cybertik mz45 or nissin or nikon sb600 which is more costly. |

my friend told me not possible sensor because if dead pixel..it won't be like this....i can see clear dark black spots instead.... but this one...he suspect is a hair ?????? Attached thumbnail(s) |

ok guys... i'm like a few days old into this whole DSLR thingie and i just read the user guide for D40 from kenrockwell's website...basically i've tried applying all the basic settings that he recommends...
so here's some pics taken and i wanna ask, how come my pics all appear dark? i have SB600 and i tried pointing it to the ceiling to bounce...but then doesn't seem to have any impact at all on the subject... in fact...i have to use image editing software to edit the brightness and contrast.... attached are some pics showing the original pic taken using my d40 and the ones edited via software.... p/s...i notice that if i want bright pics....i have to use manual mode...and then try to adjust my shutter speed around 10-15... and then the aperture i just try to use the lowest that i can...but when i try to zoom...the smallest aperture size available gets bigger than normal... so how do i capture great pics of my baby daughter? appreciate inputs from all d40 users out there.... btw...the reason i bought my SB-600 is becoz i hope to be able to bounce the flash and not directly take my pics through direct flash...if i have wanted direct flash...i would have use the normal point and shoot.... thanks again.... Added on May 31, 2009, 12:17 pmhard to find ready stock...i've been to shops and they told me no stock now... QUOTE(mixologist84 @ May 31 2009, 02:30 AM) really poisoned by 35mm f1.8! sprix, you need to manual focus though... so do put this in mind...although you save half of the cost price...but you might need to more than double the effort to capture each shot next time...

so was it a misconception by many when a lot of ppl recommended 50mm for portrait? and in fact 35mm should be the more suitable lens for portrait... ???

yo guys...
damn...i got a good offer to upgrade to d80...do you think it's worth upgrading? or i should stick with my d40 for now and upgrade to something later on if i need it? btw... assuming if i need to top up RM400 to upgrade from d40 to d80 as reference guide...is it worth? i'm very new in DSLR...i don't even really master my d40 yet in my opinion...but just that my fren decided to sell his d80 and offer me a good price...makes me think twice...otherwise i would have stick with my d40.... any 2 cents very much appreciated...sankyu! |

This post has been edited by kevyeoh: Jun 4 2009, 07:48 PMi have not tried both but tried 50mm f1.8 quite a few times. i mostly shoot potraits. and from my pasy experience i think 35mm would be more versatile for me as in certain time ''taking 2 step back'' just wont do with 50mm. so here i stand humbly asking to be poisoned by more 35mm f1.8 shots. will get by weekend. so far ys quoted me at 800 for it and they have stock. i need to get either one of these lense and an sb600. and again here i humbly stand asking for advice on where to shop and a a price guide probably. i knw tht sb600 will cost exactly like 35mm but just hoping to a get a better deal if i take both item Added on June 4, 2009, 12:54 amoh ya guys may i humbly invite all the borther's and sister's here for some charity work..
