Me too. Stuck wif blank screen. I just got this iphone oven-hot from maxis. I installed & ran itunes 8.2 in my WinXP. I plug it in, it detects iphone & wanted to connect to Apple server but i purposely remain offline then. I clicked cancel & proceeded to run redsnow+3.0 ipsw (speculating & hpoing that it comes as 3.0.1 instead of 3.1).

Redsnow installed & asked to disconnect USB & re-plug while pressing Home button. I followed, as usual. Then, after restart, redsnow detects & began to install again. This stage, as compared to my previous JB, was different. my iphone's screen went black (but still running, just like into DFU mode).

I waited 15 mins & it self-restarted. Next, the initial screen where apple logo+usb re-appears. No clear signs of JB.

My ques is, should I now allow itunes to check wif apple server?

Your thoughts are much appreciated.

Added on October 9, 2009, 6:40 amguys, i think i've managed to jailbreak the phone. just out of curiosity, if in the future i need to send my phone for warranty can i remove the traces that the phone has been jail broken by using "restore" in itunes?

Bro dont worry, if you have been reading , there might be a jailbreak released today that works over the 3.1 otb issue. Meaning if you have an iphone 3gs that is out of the box or you accidentally upgraded to 3.1 on itunes, this will jailbreak it. Just keep yourself posted on the forums. I am waiting for the 3.1 jailbreak as well. its called Blackra1n

i just jb-ed a frens iphone 3g from maxis, the cool part is the jb'ing process to 3.0 went so smooth, no application or contacts were lost during the process. i didnt even needed to restore/sync back application from ITUNES.

Great. Waiting for a week or two before its going to 3.1.2, hehe

Bad luck guys If your phone comes with 3.1 pre-installed (like mine), we're out of luck until there's a proper JB method. For now, just use it without JB

DFU mode is when the screen is blank right? The apple logo disappears as if the screen is turned off.

I noticed that the iPhone does not know that it is plugged after I restart it. I have to replug the USB cable only then it will charge.

Means Now 3.01 or 3.1 can JB already??

hi, my iphone 3gs comes in 3.0.1 , i heard there is a way that with 3.0.1, u can upgrade to 3.1 or 3.1.2 and still can jailbreak it. something about backup , im not sure though. is it possible to upgrade to 3.1 and jb it? thanks

Jason, you should actually do some research..sigh.. if you read the first part of this thread you would know that yes , 3.01 can be JB'en. 3.1/3.1.2 out of the box or an updated through itunes can't. The good thing is if you have updated to 3.1/3.1.2, there is a software called blackra1n that is coming out to actually jb that specific firmware. Just do some simple reading before just asking a question that's already been answered bro

if u r on 3.01 otb, be thankful 2 god, n directly use redsn0w to jailbreak...
no need to restore first..just did tat 2 my bro i3gs last nite...
open cydia, update the files, restart, n select the make my life easy option....

i take it back to the shop that i bought but they still say cant JB it?they say still need wait 1 more week OMG
or maybe i need to take to another shop ask to help me fix it??
