Yours bought from where? Locked set? if 3.0.1 still can jailbreak and use ultrasn0w to unlock it to another carrier.

Bro, just to let you know , i tried to use the custom firmware 3.1 on my 3.0 jb iphone 3gs. I entered dfu mode and shift, left click restore, and got error 1600, i am just lucky that my nothing happend to my phone! and its still jailbroken with 3.0. Lots of people have already done it and are on 3.1, if you open youtube, lots of people have done it. The thing is, I would rather wait for Geohot's Jb and do it properly. Dont want to make a mistake again sigh.

I usually get that error when I am in DFU mode, just try to do the restore in Restore Mode instead of DFU Mode.

Ok bro, are you on 3.1 and using a 3gs set? If you did it that way, is 3.1 worth it , what i mean is that do you have any problem so far with the firmware, like some say they do not have the signal bars and some say that they can't send out mms. The thing is i heard that 3.1 is supposed to help battery life, that's why I am thinking of upgrading , if not i am pretty much fine with 3.0

Apparently, you can't jailbreak OS 3.1 OTB at the moment. Blackra1n will releasing his tool which we able to jailbreak soon
Singapore set should be unlock and no worries to use it with MY telcos

I'm getting very confuse here , What's the difference between Firmware and Software Version ? I see a lot of 3.0.1 , 3.1.2 , What are those ? I can't find them in my Iphone or anywhere or something similar. I only know OS which is Software version like 3.1 , 3.0 ... But what is 3.0.1 and such ? Been googling around and found a lot of uncertainties . I hope you can help me with it thanks.

Well the simple thing is that firmware/software is the same. Ok currently right now, 3.1.2 is the latest firmware that apple has to offer their iphone/ipod touch users. This can be downloaded off Itunes to enhance the device. 3.0.1 is the apples minor update to its 3.0 firmware that's about it. 3.1.2 is apple's latest firmware which they just released on the 8th with some bug fixes to rectify their 3.1 firmware.

To find what firmware you are, open your settings, go to general, click on about and look at the firmware. If you are currently on 3.0/3.0.1 you can jailbreak the device, there are posts on this thread how to do so.

If your phone is at 3.1, then at this point you can't jailbreak it as there is no tool to allow that at this moment (maybe in a few more days)

No that means you are only on 3.1 and not 3.1.2
Right now you can't jailbreak your device because its at that particular firmware, you would need to wait for a program called Blackra1n, when it's released, you should have no problem jailbreaking your phone. If you want to be sure your on 3.1, then just plug your iphone into your comp and start itunes, it will inform you if you are there is an update to 3.1.2, simple

funny thing happened to me when i was jailbreaking my iPhone 3G...

I bought it at FW2.2, upgraded it to 2.2.1 in the middle of the week just to get familiar with things... had a few problems with the digi signal even after yellowsn0w, but got that solved

so on saturday i was following the instructions on iclarified for jailbreaking 3.0

after restoring the ipsw, itunes locked up for some reason, restarted it, itunes lost all of it's setting (like starting itunes for the first time) activated my phone, it could still restore backup and synced my files and now it can detect my digi line although wifi seems not that good as before, although working...

it's not jailbroken, i haven't run redsnow... no cydia to get ultrasnow

how come it's working? did i install it correctly? can i run redsnow on it?
