Cool!!! Anyone knows how to set the blackberry as a tethered modem through USB? currently all I can use is my Bluetooth. Anyone?

In the Modems tab, you should see a new "Standard Modem" on a new port (such as COM6 or COM11). If you do, jump to the next step. However, if your modem is missing: If this modem entry is missing and cannot be found using Plug n Play, you may have to manually add it. Verify you have "RIM Virtual Serial Port" drivers installed. Find out which COM ports the RIM Virtual Serial Ports are, go to Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager -> Ports (COM & LPT) ... This will tell you which COM ports your BlackBerry Modem is on. Next, go to Control Panel -> Phone and Modem and Remove the modem. Re-add the modem by clicking on Add. You MUST select the "Standard 33600 bps Modem" (correct) INSTEAD OF "Standard 56000 bps Modem" (wrong). Click Next. You will be asked for the ports to add this modem to. Add this modem to all COM ports that the RIM Virtual Serial Port is on. You must choose the "Standard 33600 bps Modem" because of incompatible AT commands that result in an Error 628. Don't worry, the speed won't be slower. . # Verify The Modem Driver Is Functioning Go to Control Panel -> Phone & Modem Options. In the Modems tab, you should see a new Standard Modem on a new port (such as COM6 or COM11). Click Properties -> Diagnostics -> Query Modem. Just make sure there is a response at all, rather than no response. . # IMPORTANT SPECIAL CONFIGURATION STEP Click Properties -> Advanced and add only ONE of the following Extra initialization commands with the appropriate carrier-specific APN Setting: TMOBILE USA Users (Success!) +cgdcont=1,"IP","wap.voicestream.com" Rogers Users (Success!) +cgdcont=1,"IP","internet.com" Cingular Blue/AT&T Users (Success!) +cgdcont=1,"IP","proxy" Cingular Orange Users (Success!) +cgdcont=1,"IP","ISP.CINGULAR" UK Vodafone Users (Success!) +cgdcont=1,"IP","internet" Verizon Users (Success!) - Keep blank Nextel/Telus iDEN Users (untested) - Keep blank Sprint/Bell Mobility CDMA Users (untested) - Keep blank . # Add A New Internet Connection Close the Phone and Modem Options and the Control Panel. Create a new connection with Start -> Connect To -> Show all connections -> Create a new connection. Quote: 1. Click Next 2. Select "Connect To The Internet" then Next 3. Select "Set up my connection manually" then Next 4. Select "Connect using a dial-up modem" then Next. 5. Check only the Standard Modem (if prompted). 6. Give the connection a name such as "BlackBerry Modem", then Next. 7. On the next screen, pick one of the following phone numbers, depending on your carrier: ....If you use GSM/Cingular/AT&T/TMobile: Enter phone number *99# ....If you use iDEN/Nextel/Telus: Enter phone number S=2 ....If you use CDMA/Verizon/Sprint/Bell Canada: Enter phone number #777 8. Click Next. 9. On the next screen, feel the username and password bro 10. Clear all checkboxes ("Use...when anyone..." and "Make this the default...") 11. Click Finish . # Disable IP Header Compression Make sure TCP/IP Properties (Advanced) "Use IP Header Compression" checkbox is NOT checked. To verify this, do these steps: Quote: 1. Connect to the Internet on the laptop by clicking the "BlackBerry Modem" icon via Start Menu->Network Connections. No username or password is needed. |

i didnt configure my APN properly. once i key in correct APN for maxis..
+cgdcont=1,"IP","unet" problem solve. im happy to tether my bold coz im planning to return my SLOW maxis usb broadband. btw my bold under unlimited data subscription. |

Just an advice for those seeking to buy BB for the 1st time, if you buying brand new Bold, Storm, Javelin, i would suggest that you buy it straight from the Telco or official distributor. Coz BB is not like Nokia or Sony Errisson got Service center. If anything goes wrong with your BB, most of the time they would be sent back to Canada
So if you bought those so call Export Set, Warranty by Vodafon, Warranty by BlackBerry, Shop warranty, etc, if anything goes wrong with it, your are most likely on your own. So do your own calculation, if you think you can save a couple hundred ringgit by getting non-local warranty sets, please go ahead la. |

If you have a memory card in your BlackBerry and you connect it to a computer with its USB cable (PC or Mac, Windows, Linux, or OSX), the BlackBerry pops up a message "Do you want to turn on Mass Storage Mode?". If you say yes, your computer will see the BlackBerry as a new drive letter. You will be able to drag and drop anything from your computer to and from the BlackBerry. i used a "compatible" charger" seems like the output just 500mAH ...the US forum said required at least 700mAH at output
the charger "hardly" charge the BB actually, but also causing the "hang" issue |

obtain a PIN says from ur friends or families...can send ur email to them without enter the email add....
it quick cos everytime u use ur BB...it will go thru ur PIN.. and its quick...cos it doesnt have to went thru such server of certain email.. |

hi want to ask if i take my maxis sim with blackberry unlimited service and put it in a 3g phone and surf the internet using notebook...can i enjoy 3G or 3.5G speed...i activated my line as 3g blackberry although i use 8220....somehow I can't get 3g speed as normal surfing around 200kbps..

I have checked around and confirmed that Maxis is out of Bold at this moment. Blue Cubes have plenty but refuses to sell without contract. I am not considering an AP set for now in view of warranty concerns.
Guess that my buddy and myself gotta to wait till Maxis replenish their Bolds. |

For your information, I think its better to buy bb bold from Maxis, i bought bb bold from Celcom, it has IT policy issue, i dont know about others bb bold celcom set.

using Bold under Celcom (company number). Minimum payment of RM38 (Power38 Commitment) and RM98 (Blackberry Business - Advance 3G). Used the account for nearly 2 years (upgrade BB from Curve to Bold). No problem so far. Also use Bold as modem. As contract expires, thought of continuing but using maxis 012 personal number (MNP).

I got a problem with my Bold.
The set is from Maxis without contract. Service is with Celcom BIS. All my incoming calls are displayed as Unknown Number. Even if the caller is part of my contact list. Any idea what is the problem and how to solve it? |

I hate it when people give out advice to other people without elaborating.
I have the Storm from celcom and I have no issues with it whatsoever, I'm enjoying every minute on my Storm. So do 5 of my best friends who have the Storm from celcom/maxis. Most of the issues on the Storm that people read from teh internet are related to the old OS, version .075, from US carrier Verizon. Honestly...For business...Think Blackberry enough for me on everything that i need on business...I can say is "Ultimate Business Tools" For entertainment...for sure...Iphone 3g still the best device to Entertain you anytime and anywhere. btw, i using BB Bold bluetooth connection to online using HP 1001TU
setting is the same refer to front page but add this if you using celcom. under initial command add this :- +cgdcont=1,"IP","celcom3g" So far i would say the connection even better than i subscribe the Celcom 3g usb modem with RM68...is crap!!!!!!!! |

i think i do some random setting on my wifi setting..
i can connect to the wifi..like yesterday i go to starbucks. it say connect but then i can browse..no flash either..how do i want to register.. and 1 more thinks i want to ask..if in here some one put "spoiler" can we open it? cos i cant open spoiler.. sorry too much question im noob in this BB world peace..^^ |

i mean i accidently change the wifi setting.. i can search the wifi..can connect..but when it comes to the browser and i go for yahoo..it wont work..i forgot what message pop up..but its clearly tells me that i cant use the wifi.. but the wifi is in open for public. can u gimme the default settings for the wifi bro? |

Manage Connection > Mobile Network Option > Data Services Data Services must be ON in order for you to use wifi (thou i may sound unrelated but it actually does) |

Hi All.
I finally got my Bold + subscribing to Celcom BIS with unlimited packaged. Just curious, how fast normally you guys received email on your BB? I notice service from celcom are not stable, sometimes I receive fast (1-2 minutes delay) sometimes took hours before I finally hit the reconcilliation. I also notice when batery are really low (under 10%), data access are becoming slow, is this related? I am not sure whether problem comes from RIM server but I notice its related with data service. There was one time when I did not received my email for 1-2hours then I start browising or online using YM, after that email start coming. Seems it wasnt push because there was no data session active, dont know whether its related. Feel free to share your experience |

My fren suggested that I get a Blackberry Javelin instead of Bold. But I told her that Javelin don't have 3G. She said no problem coz can still use Blackberry service (I assume BIS/BES). My question is, can I access to websites like Google or Lowyat.net, receive emails without subscribing to 3G services? I thought it's 3G that allows BB to access to websites and BIS for email service. Coz Javelin don't have 3G. |

I m currently using my bold as a tethered modem on a maxis unlimited plan and i believe some of you are using it too.
My question is, will there be additional charges on top of my current rm120 or is it still fixed at rm120? I notice there is a topic about this on the earlier page but i dont seem to see any feedback if there are any additional charges. Thanks. |

 1.while setting up email account under email wizard setup , it doesnt shows 2 option..it shows setup BlackBerry enterprise only...cant setup hotmail or yahoo account... 2.i download the facebook apps n try login but failed shows data plan failure.... What is missing from there ? cant login to any accounts but can surf the net with wifi .....im currently using a digi prepaid services...any possibilities related to courier service...? or i goto change to celcom service..? thanks..... |

Push emails will only work if you subscribed to BIS, in this case since you're on digi prepaid i can confirm you will not have any access. If it is installed properly on your phone ... it should be showing after you press the BB button ... try searching in Applications folder and see or download folder ...

Also, your data connection would be hopeless unless you install 3rd party software than can use your APN GPRS settings via the Desktop Manager. Your BB applications like the browser, email client and messengers will not work without BIS. |

Please go to the following thread and extract the DIGI service book (digi-sb.zip) and install it from your Blackberry Desktop Manager. http://forum.mypdacafe.com/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=17844 I have done it and it works. Hi everyone.I have a problem with my BB Storm modem. It happen whe It disconnected while I was surfing using my laptop with storm as tethered modem.
After that, I cannot connect to my modem anymore. When I run query modem,it show error below "The modem failed to respond. Make sure it is properly connected and turned on. If it Is an internal modem or is connected,verify that the interrupt for the port is properly set." I've tried reinstall Desktop Manager, soft reset the Storm. It didn't work. The only way Is to hard reset the Storm. Does anyone know how to solve this instead of hard reset the phone ? |

Hey guys,
I am on MAXIS BB tether, last few days I ve not been able to download from rapid share (click freeuser/Premium button...then nothing, page fails to load ) I think maxis has blocked it cause when i change to streamyx, I manage to reach the next page with the d/l timer. anyone know how to work around it? |

What about MMS? Can be used? Is it have any other way for me to use email (like install third party application)? I saw some web saying that email can be used by install gmail mobile...so it can be used without BIS... |

Hi there, juz got my bold 2 days ago and am super loving it!! used to think whether to take bold or iphone 3gs..and now no regret gettin the bb!!
..using celcom's 148 packagequestions wanna know~ 1. though super love it but my bold's battery life drain fast like hell..only can last for 10 hours..like today use msn (40mins-1 hour), surfing, some call, some sms, facebook..is it normal? or can i switch off some programs to make it last longer? 2. wanna know is there any other program that is recommended to download for the blackberry? have dl opera mini but dunno how to use..haha 3. to celcom users-any other hidden costs involved? i surf heavily coz they say it is unlimited..but dun wanna get a heart attack when get the phone bill... 4. heard the celcom ppl said will charge when use the bb as modem for downloading if exceed 5gb..how bout uploading? will there be any charges..?? thanks in advance..now still in exploring phase and will need more assistance  |

1. if not surfing change your connection to 2G only, this could save u battery juice, 2. using the default BB browser is enuff 3. Unlimited really unlimited, just that the 1st bill they will charge you extra 1 month, etc 4. no such thing, once exceed u get slower speed, if u using solely on BB, i really doubt u can exceed the 5GB hv fun |

Hi. I'm new owner of javelin.
i've got problem recently upon blackberry mesengger alert. even i changed to other tone its still silent mode whenever i receive im from my friend. other application's alert tone working fine except for bb im. i try to reboot few times,change themes.change profile and other tone but it still d same i've been using many themes previously.does it happened to cause this kind of problem? |

hi, am using BB Bold for abt 3 weeks now, so far so good until 2 days back, I encountered very frequent "Call failed" whenever I make a call, also my line will cut off very frequent as well. Anyone encounter the same problem before?
Initially I thought it is telco problem, but I tested with another mobile phone, whenever I encounter "Call failed" from by BB Bold, I can call with my Touch but not my BB Bold. Btw, it happen intermittently... Anyone know what could be the problem? |

Hmmm ... I am using Maxis as well ... my Bold seems fine ... no call drops / BB IM lagg / Email lagg or whatsoever ...
Best recommendation when you get the phone guys is to ............ upgrade firmware .... I am currently using .266 no problems with .266 and no batt pull is needed ... havent done a batt pull for more than 2 months now =) |

yo guys im having a big problem on blackberry storm 9500.
after plugging it into my computer using the blackberry desktop manager, my storm has been asking me for the pin. so i see my 8 digit pin from the desktop manager and try to key it in. but I CANNOT type alphabets as the alphabets are all missing from the keyboard. only numbers present. can anyone help? am currently locked out of the storm... all help is appreciated guys. if it really comes down to it, i'll try to send it back to maxis. Hi Guys,
I've converted a file into .mp4 and put it in my BlackBerry Bold. One thing I noticed is that, when I watch the movie, it always started perfectly fine. After couple of minutes, then you see the sound starting to get delayed or vice versa. The picture and sound does not match along then. If you fast forward it, and play again, then it works well and after a while comes back to the same thing. It' looks the same even if you just pause and resume unless you pause it for pretty long. Then it's gonna be alright. Do you know what is causing this ? Is it the speed of the MicroSD card ? Class 2 is just gonna cause you these issues ?? |

OTA = Over The Air ... means you download it via your internet browser on your BB.I raelly cant find a porfile icon in my phone. Cant set profiles. Software manager and Desktop manager is same ... lol sorry i got mixed up myself. --- if you are unable to find the phone profile ... do the following. BB Button > Option > Profiles Cheers |

Thanks Jamezco bro... but i've tried so hard, really no PROFILES in my Storm. If i do BB Button > Options > there is no Profiles... only shows the 'homescreen preference' to select the layout & colour schemes. Sad :::

Hi guys, i'm very tempted to buy a bb bold for it's BB messenger service as i will be going abroad to study soon and have a LDR to maintain. I have a few questions though.
Do i need to subscribe to the BIS in order to use BB messenger? If not, will it work as long as i have a simcard in it? let's say a prepaid card without credit in it. thirdly, if i were to travel to another country. will roaming charges be applied if i were to use BB messnger? Will 3G/Edge work if i do not subscribe to BIS? i'm only interested at BB because of the messenger as i am only i student, i don't need a push email. thanks! |

HI Guys need some helps
My wife bought 2nd hand BB storm (Verizon). Its cool, then she wnt to Celcom 2 subscribe BIS basic plan + power38 n then when activated she called celcom how 2 configure. Celcom guys told to make HRT but when do so nothing happen. Went to thats shop again and upgrade (bcoz told by celcom guy must upgrade software 1st) but still cant do HRT what's da prob bro |

Under manage connection my wifi status shows me a white "-" instead of a green mark sign.any1 know why? bytheway the wireless router is not connected to the internet as i was only need to connect to my DVR machine. By Guest - MPC To appreciate Blackberrys, first of all it is important to know the difference between these two acronyms, BIS and BES. Once you know what these acronyms stand for, their names will tell you a lot about what each one does, and how they differ from one another. BIS stands for Blackberry Internet Service, while BES stands for Blackberry Enterprise Service. Internet conjures the idea of individuality, and correspondingly Enterprise will bring to mind a strict, guarded, regimented routine. Anyway this is what it does in my mind when I think of these terms. Both BIS and BES will do the main essential thing Blackberrys are famously designed for: deliver your email, instantly and reliably to your device but each will do it in its own way. BIS will give you internet access, and the server which handles your email and external interactions which you can do with your berry resides with your carrier or telco. However PIM data with your PC is handled via cable and you need to manually sync the two. A welcome improvement is you can now also access some PIM functions wirelessly via public services like Google and Yahoo. BES will also grant internet access and everything else you can do is similar to what you can with BIS (IT policies permitting), in addition to enterprise applications and PIM functions. However it does this by going through your company's intranet. The intranet is of course your company's own server e.g. MS Exchange or Lotus Notes, with rules in place based on your company's policies and standards. And the SysAdmin will normally be responsible to decide what and how you interact with the company's data from your Blackberry. From here you can immediately see the main areas are: security and privacy. While the Internet is free and some say lawless, the intranet is a guarded compound. On BIS the message that arrives between you and the telco may be encrypted, but it is actually travelling via the public network aka internet. On BES, your data goes through a type of Virtual Private Network (VPN), a more secure and private link because the server is located in your own office and managed by your own SysAdmin. Therefore going BES, not only is your message encrypted at your corporate server level but it will also be sent via an encrypted network. Compare this with BIS, where encryption occurs at message level, and then travels to you through the public internet. A famous analogy is with BIS, it is like having someone trying to deliver a locked bag to you, but traveling through normal city streets. With BES, it is someone delivering that same locked bag to you, but walking within a walled compound, and each step is monitored by surveillance cameras. Besides doing email, BES with their dedicated SysAdmins can effectively control and customize any and all Blackberrys within the organization to have the same policies apply to each, for example, they can send and install an enterprise application to all the devices all at one time, or remotely wipe any device which were compromised, e.g. lost or stolen, up to controlling what websites you can access. Furthermore, all email and PIM data such as calendar, contacts, tasks and memos are automatically and instantly in sync between your device and the server. The advantage of BIS over BES is that you are free to install any application on your own device, and the setup is very easy. You are allowed to setup up to 10 email accounts, from POP enabled accounts to ISP accounts such as jaring.my and streamyx, to IMAP accounts. And you do this yourself through a simple procedure on the internet. On BES, your SysAdmin will handle these details for you, and is done via the company's intranet. I'm not having any problems but since everyone is here I have one question to ask. I'm pretty new to Blackberry and still exploring. But basically I was just wondering - if a Blackberry device is not purchased from Maxis or Celcom and was bought from a dealer from Singapore instead ... Would the Blackberry be able to use either the Maxis or Celcom BIS ( the device is unlocked )? I am looking into this because currently Maxis ran out of Bold models and they are unsure when the stock will be coming in. help needed again @.@
1. tried sending files through bluetooth from laptop to my bold (coz i've lost my usb cable -.-), but laptop keep showing cannot send files..y..? 2. i can't surf through wifi..the wifi logo always in light grey (not connected) even in wifi zone...coz goin to overseas so need to check check 1st... 3. received my phone bill (which took damn 7 long to reach-using celcom)..it charges me rm3 for the itemised bill..30 for bis..50 for calls..98 for unlimited..so total monthly is 181..then add up all is 208 (faint)..is it ok? i'm on unlimited plan..50 4. coz the juice run out very very very fast (i carry the charger+the extra battery everyday)...almost everyday i'll need to change the battery..is it normal..?? tried switchin it to 2g still the same.. that's all for now..though hav already bought for 1 month+..still exploring and amazed by it!!..thanks ya'all for the help |

I brought it to Maxis, they load back the official firmware to test then send back for RMA ... after 1 month ... got a new pearl flip ... ..just make sure DELETE THE VENDOR FILE !!! Hi Zoslan,
Try to download the theme via your blackberry browser first. First enter the .jad link which was provided in your previous post. once you finish writing the link of the .jad file then press ok. You will then receive a prompt if you want to download the .jad file. Then just let the download finish, once the download is done just go to Options > Theme > select the theme which you have downloaded. then it should be able to change. dont click the OTA link on your PC browser. just copy the OTA link to your BB Browser ... should be able to download ... =) if still cannot then post here. |

just when you plug in your USB ... Options > Memory > BB Button > enable USB Storage ... as for using bold as a modem ... you would have to check wit the others because I am using 5MB data and I am scared to use my phone as a modem ... xD scared exceed |

Added on October 13, 2009, 4:10 pmguess what, i called maxis first time and they said need 7 working days to investigate.. i already paid for the services. second time i called maxis, they ask me goto maxis center to configure. what kind of service?? I've read about people saying that just send back to the telcos where you bought them, but since the BB was out of warranty, anywhere else i can go to repair my BB? its BB Curve btw... |

I got the G1 trackball from cnn.cn and did the swap. The black trackball of the G1 does not light up though unlike the 8900's cool black trackball. |

And the SysAdmin will normally be responsible to decide what and how you interact with the company's data from your Blackberry. From here you can immediately see the main areas are: security and privacy. While the Internet is free and some say lawless, the intranet is a guarded compound. On BIS the message that arrives between you and the telco may be encrypted, but it is actually travelling via the public network aka internet. On BES, your data goes through a type of Virtual Private Network (VPN), a more secure and private link because the server is located in your own office and managed by your own SysAdmin. Therefore going BES, not only is your message encrypted at your corporate server level but it will also be sent via an encrypted network. Compare this with BIS, where encryption occurs at message level, and then travels to you through the public internet. A famous analogy is with BIS, it is like having someone trying to deliver a locked bag to you, but traveling through normal city streets. With BES, it is someone delivering that same locked bag to you, but walking within a walled compound, and each step is monitored by surveillance cameras. Besides doing email, BES with their dedicated SysAdmins can effectively control and customize any and all Blackberrys within the organization to have the same policies apply to each, for example, they can send and install an enterprise application to all the devices all at one time, or remotely wipe any device which were compromised, e.g. lost or stolen, up to controlling what websites you can access. Furthermore, all email and PIM data such as calendar, contacts, tasks and memos are automatically and instantly in sync between your device and the server. The advantage of BIS over BES is that you are free to install any application on your own device, and the setup is very easy. You are allowed to setup up to 10 email accounts, from POP enabled accounts to ISP accounts such as jaring.my and streamyx, to IMAP accounts. And you do this yourself through a simple procedure on the internet. On BES, your SysAdmin will handle these details for you, and is done via the company's intranet. In conclusion, BIS is suitable for individual users who wish to retain some control over their own handheld, and provides everything the user needs to be able to send and receive messages wherever they may be at all times. One drawback is your PIM needs manual interaction and will not be in sync at all times. BES would be suitable for corporations which have their own fleet of Blackberries, mail servers and their own infrastructure to support it. But it is sometimes not within the individual's control whether they go BIS or BES. If your organization gives you a Blackberry to use, you don't normally have a choice to refuse the "offer." And once an IT policy is put on your BB, it'll take a mighty huge effort to remove it as it was designed to stay on forever. So think twice before submitting your personal Blackberry to be put under BES. for the explanation on BES and BIS!! |

subscribed maxis prepaid blackberry but when i used options-hoost routing-register now the browser is not there. can anyone teach me how to have bb browser? thanks |

I'm also in the same boat. Got a Tour and have to use Celcom for coverage reasons. So we either find out how to crack this to Celcom or move to Maxis. Or just get rid of tour and wait for bold 9700. Do let know if you manage to work it on Celcom. Expresso |

But then im still unable to go on internet . when i tried to browse , its pop-up and said : " you are not currently in an area that can handle data communication.As a ressult ,the browser cannot retreive any webpage " do anyone know the reason ? hmmm I would say the data is not countable even if you download a data counter as it is not accurate.

maxis usually very confusing in terms of there customer service...
anyway for those BB 8520 owner? where do you get your screen protector? i only manage to get a small one just enough to cover the screen. another thing is how long does your battery last you? mine only like 2 days only is it normal? one more, i just found out blackberry quite slow in multitasking, i switch on the browser and window live, then the whole phone quite jammed up...wonder why? Appreciate some replies thanks. |

hmmm if the yahoo mail successfully reach your gmail ... from there it should be pushed to your bb without any problem unless you have a filter which blocks yahoo mail being pushed to your bb ...

i use normal browser coz can switch from wifi to BIS vice versa. |

need help with the *100# service menu of hotlink.. is there a way for me to have "english" options and not bahasa malaysia because I can't read in BM since I'm not a local. thanks!

So I tried using Wifi to browse the internet and got charged tonnes!! How can I use wifi to browse the internet without getting charged/data plan?? |

I got an activation notice today at 2PM.
At 4PM I got a note saying that the service was deactivated. Starting to not like the service I'm getting from Maxis-Hotlink. Hi Need sifus help on the storm. Got a storm foc storm but its a "st@rhub" version. Want to configure email but not using the bb push email. I read that other type of email like imap/pop can be setup. just that this bb does not give me that option when i tried to setup email. only option is bb service. Any ideas how to fix this ? fw upgrade ? now running 4.7.0.122.

getLOGIC - check with ur company IT dept 1st kancheong - u need 3rd party app. BB email only works with BIS. u can try to install gmail mobile (uses 3g/gprs) --> m.google.com/mail |

yup..i agree with duxz. i use to recharge my bold everyday with just moderate usage. after setting network to 2G, i only recharge every 2 days with heavy usage.
u might also consider upgrading ur OS if it is too old and always remember to fully close any app that u r not using. |

hello,I just got my BB curve 8530 yesterday~~
but now I have another problem - BB desktop manager can't connect to my 8520. I've download the latest version of desktop manger (5.0.1),but when I plug 8520 to my desktop,the desktop manager show:"please verify that you've connected your BB" Anyone came across of this before?btw I'm using windows 7. I did a bit googling and followed some of the instruction but not working too(for example stop RIM and BB service at task manager,then re-connect BB). |

hi, im interested to know about blackberry. I have absolutely no experience in this and i need your help.
I don't really understand how the service+data packages work for blackberry. Must I purchase official blackberry services from celcom/maxis/digi to use it? I'm currently on a normal maxis with 500mb data plan, so if i simply went out to buy a blackberry on the market and put my sim card in, will i be able to use its things like web browsers using my 500mb data? Or maybe the phone won't work without official data/service packages? |

its not "not working properly" its totally cannot work without BIS. there is no way of "jailbreaking" the BB .... most apps which require "GPRS / EDGE / 3G" will not work if you don't have BIS / BES. |

Go to Help --> Check for update, to download latest patch But I heard some Tour users dont have this appear in their BDM. Are U using TOUR? |

i wish to ask a nobie quesiton here and hope someone can advise me. after inserting a new SIM card into the Bold (Singtel set) i see the "gprs" icon on the top right of the screen, just below the signal indicator. what does it mean? does it mean that my phone line is "on" or am i using the gprs sufring or something? mine is Maxis postpaid. thank you. |

Guys, I'm quite new to BB. So i some advise from u guys. The situation is, I'm currently armed with a 9630 Verizon Tour complete with Digi 58 BIS plan. my bumber is a port in number from maxis prepaid. My problem is when I choose a name in my phonebook and push call button, it will say call forwarding and then no unobtainable. However, if I redial the number without using the phone book, the call will go through. Any BB'ian,please help.

I'm currently using E71, and i use the internet a lot through my phone esp during meetings and i need to reply work emails while on the go. And as well as tether the connection to laptop when there is no internet connection. But my E71 will get extremely hot as it connects to 3G/EDGE. I'm wondering if BB will get hot when it connects to BIS 24/7?

Any BB'ian,please help. try disable the country code if verizon unit, go to phone dialing screen --> press menu key --> options --> smart dialing -->change the country code to unknown. |

I am constantly in a meeting and our wireless is only confined to that floor (or actually, to that room)... so i use my E71 to access the 3G internet to reply mails, etc. And i travel too (leisure), and need connection to check my emails. Arghhhhh, i loveeee my E71, if only it doesnt get hot when using data connection. Might get a BB in the near future, test running colleague's Bold at the moment. Not a fan of their GUI (hahaha) but durability sure own its points

Cant afford BB Bold last time, hence bought E71. Now i feel guilty for ogling at the bold. Maybe, in the near future... RM1800 for a bold, hmmm. that is a lot of money!
domokun, what happened to your E71? you ditched it? I am carrying 2 phones now (N6233), cannot imagine carrying E71 and BB. My pocket will be bulging |

i hv just upgraded from e71 to bold for the same hot issues and battery drain. hopefully to c the bold perform well on these 2 areas as compared to the e71

hey guys i need some advice
i just want to know the bb 8520 celcom unit right? where does the warranty come from? issit from samart? because this person im about to buy my blackberry from says the bb pin is under warranty with celcom already so if any problems just go to celcom bluecube center. is it true? please someone help me cuz im about to purchase this bb tomorrow and i do not want to buy a bb with problems. anyone using the celcom set pls advise.
