Hi guys, i'm very tempted to buy a bb bold for it's BB messenger service as i will be going abroad to study soon and have a LDR to maintain. I have a few questions though.

Do i need to subscribe to the BIS in order to use BB messenger?

If not, will it work as long as i have a simcard in it? let's say a prepaid card without credit in it.

thirdly, if i were to travel to another country. will roaming charges be applied if i were to use BB messnger?

Will 3G/Edge work if i do not subscribe to BIS?

i'm only interested at BB because of the messenger as i am only i student, i don't need a push email. thanks!
