One important question, is your Storm 2 an"unlock" BlackBerry?

inactive although it means its unlocked, but your device pin is still registered with the original owner, meaning you have to contact the original owner and have it released from the original networks database. Making normal phone call sending sms will work, but for BIS or BES you need to get the pin release.
If you use the latest Blackberry Desktop Manager 5.0 Service Pack 1, it come with this feature called IP Modem which now allows you to use BlackBerry as a Tethered modem to get on the Internet.

Go to Help --> Check for update, to download latest patch

But I heard some Tour users dont have this appear in their BDM. Are U using TOUR?

Use MS Outlook or other PIM client to manage your contact.

BB also support Google Contact Sync, maybe U can try use that as well.

I am trying to connect to internet using my BB with laptop.
I cant detect my BB as a device when I set up my network in windows 'network connections'.
BB is not in my device under the device list.
What have I missed out anything? Please help. 

I mean besides MS Outlook...my previous E71 desktop manager allows me to to that which is quite convenient 

Its been a tough day trying to familiarize BB!!! Life were much simpler during Symbian days  but no doubt..Im loving me BB

Ah, crap. My E71 gets REALLY REALLY hot, feels like as if it's melting in my palm . Iphone does the same too.

Contemplating to get a Bold though.

I am constantly in a meeting and our wireless is only confined to that floor (or actually, to that room)... so i use my E71 to access the 3G internet to reply mails, etc. And i travel too (leisure), and need connection to check my emails. Arghhhhh, i loveeee my E71, if only it doesnt get hot when using data connection. Might get a BB in the near future, test running colleague's Bold at the moment. Not a fan of their GUI (hahaha) but durability sure own its points

Cant afford BB Bold last time, hence bought E71. Now i feel guilty for ogling at the bold. Maybe, in the near future... RM1800 for a bold, hmmm. that is a lot of money!

domokun, what happened to your E71? you ditched it? I am carrying 2 phones now (N6233), cannot imagine carrying E71 and BB. My pocket will be bulging

hi, awfully noob here,

1. when you asked if BIS is activated (i just got my unit from Maxis, and I haven't received a message (btw is this a email message or SMS message?))
but I can see the word "edge" near the signal bar.

2. I'm following the manual to setup the email, in the manual it says that there are 2 options, A) I want to create or add an email address, and B) I want to use a work email account with a BES. But I don't see the first option. Is this related to my first question that my BIS account isn't activated yet?

I'm using the 8520 Curve by the way, Prepaid account for 6 months. Im quite confused here, I didn't get much info from the snob Maxis rep 

Aha. it's still in small caps. So is this the same reason why I didn't see the option to add an email?

Actually, I can do something, I have had actually browsed a few pages, but my 1 month balance now is around 2 RM which was supposed to be around 50 i think.
