long time didn't post here already,

last time i checked at hp center at lowyat plaza, they quoted me for the mobo for my cq40-401ax is about rm1k hmm.gif

btw, is it normal if the caps lock and scroll lock lights flashing after some heavy gaming? i've experienced this before and now i just used my lappie for some surfing and doing my assignments only.

Hi guys, I got a buddy who has the CQ40-401AU laptop, its processor apparently died just after his warranty expired. Can I buy a replacement processor off ebay or something to fix it? HP wants RM900 to fix it, and I'm pretty sure I can get the same CPU at ~RM150 or so off the net.

Also, the processor used is a Turion X2 RM-70? Friend only knows it's a 2GHz dualcore.

What wireless card you have?
From google, its only support wireless b/g hence the 54Mbps ....

My friend's 401AX just died. Got the dreaded blinking capslock and scroll lock, can't even boot into bios. Most likely a motherboard problem.
Might as well buy a new notebook right? Replacing the board would probably cost about RM1k.

Hi tictac,

Does ganabathi mention how he fix it? any parts changed? curious to know biggrin.gif Thanks

My CQ40, before that the blank boot (with cap & num blinking once continuously) problem happened intermittent, but after I left it abt a week plus totally power off, now the problem seem went away : hmm.gif

My buddy's laptop has a new CPU. However after fixing it in for him I get a new error: plugged in charger and power LEDs are lit, press power button the LEDs go off and the laptop doesn't start. Any ideas?

yup... i have exactly same problem as yours... then 1 day it decide not to boot up anymore. He said it is the GPU graphic problem. The hot air from the processor causing this problem. Better fixed it. Last time i keep delaying. Cause it will boot up again if we leave it fro sometimes. I just afraid the data from HDD corupt due to bad boot up.
