For CQ series I have done "surgery" few times.
Going to do it 1 more time next weekend.This time I'm gonna apply TX-3 for the processor.

Anyone knows any shop to get CQ series 6 cell battery?Tried searching at HP website but nothing there.Garage sale also not much info on the price.
I'll be grateful if anyone give me an estimated price for this battery.

Anyone knows if the AC adaptor is under warranty? I bought the Total Care Pack from HP also. Is it covered? The AC adaptor is faulty now.

around rm200 for the battery .

6cell . but not worth . since 12cell just rm260 or 270

great.. my laptop spoil already. keyboard and touchpad unable to work. sometimes when turn on got the caps lock and num lock led blinking.

can get cheaper battery from ebay.com mostly from hongkong sellers,

Got my laptop back. Ganabathi fixed my laptop...

Just upgrade my memory to 3GB ram ...

now i use k10stat to set max speed to 2ghz only. to reduce heat problem.

Blink: 4 - Caps Lock/Num Lock Graphics Graphics controller not functional
Blink: 5 - Caps Lock/Num Lock System board General system board failure
Blink: 6 - Caps Lock/Num Lock BIOS BIOS authentication failure

Last time mine blink 4x... so its GPU problem. sent to ganabathi solved my issue

yes, is covered but 1 year only. So even if u got the 3 year hp care pack, if more than a year u bought di then is out of warranty.

I know coz my adapter is faulty too, i send to the service center but rejected. The price for replacement is RM150 (90w adapter).

I thought i can save a few bucks by buying an adapter from lelong, but i just got it 2day and it's not working at all. The item description stated that it's compatible with Compaq CQ40, and the product number of my faulty adapter is listed too. So i had 100% confidence it works.

I tested with an electrical test pen and it shows that it's working fine. My faulty adapter works (the wire needs some twisting before can work) . So i came to the conclusion that it's simply not compatible, eventhough it has the same voltage/wattage/amphere as my faulty adapter. Although it's possible the adapter i bought is faulty too.

I wont mention the seller here, but if you're checking lelong.... note the keyword Matrix Parts under the description, thats where i got mine. Now trying for refund or exchange....

I bought cq40 last year around June 2009 and the drivers given by the shop is Windows Vista, and i m using Vista.

If now i re-install it with Windows7, question:
1. Can it run on Windows7 ?
2. Where can I find its drivers for Windows7? Or can i use the Vista drivers ?

1>Yes it can run Win 7....heck...it can even run XP and Vista...
2>u can try look at HP website....there u will find all the driver u need

Compaq website does not have this driver leh.

iinm d webcam uses a 3rd part software, cyberlink cam as an example to work
