Those are Vista drivers, he requested for the not officially supported XP drivers. To Jcvendetta, you'd have to dig deep into the previous thread to find the drivers.

QUOTE(camillenoir @ Apr 28 2009, 09:30 PM) i bought a CQ40-401AX last tuesday (21/4), with 2GB RAM and Vista SE. Sounds more like a faulty unit to me. Where did you buy yours?i started having problems by thursday, and by saturday, the whole system went down. yesterday the unit was sent to hp service centre, where the technician checked the unit and reported of a suspected faulty system board. nevertheless, i got my replacement unit today, though the vendor does not seem to be happy with the term 'suspected' used by hp. question: since all i ever did besides using the net was play NWN 2, could it be that CQ40 is not safe enough to play a 2006 title without burning or is it just a faulty unit? |

QUOTE(ChrisWei @ May 22 2009, 09:39 PM) oohh...thanks..that means nobody blow out their 401AX yet...right?? The notebook is meant for Windows Vista. There's no driver issue at all.and how about the Windows and the drivers problems?? is it not a big deal??? It will only become a 'big deal' if you insist on installing Windows XP. There is no official XP support from HP. |

So it is true then. The newer bios downgrades the clock speed.
Anyone willing to spend the time to take this research to the next level? Do some benchmarks with the default speed and compare it with the downgraded speed. |

Go to the Apple Byes section, look for the 'hackintosh' thread. Or you can just google 'hackintosh'.

QUOTE(influenza04 @ Jun 18 2009, 01:57 AM) can anyone help me with this... im totally clueless. i bought my laptop on 13 June 2009, but a quick lookup at http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechS...rantyLookup.jsp , then it seems that the start date is 13 March 2009 and it ends on 11 May 2010. It's either a used laptop that has been registered by the previous owner or an honest mistake by the seller. what is wrong? im given an old laptop or it was mistakenly keyed in as March? i bought it from LYP. what should i do now? contact HP? or the salesman? Why didn't you register it yourself? If you still have the receipt I don't think it's a hassle to get HP to update the warranty status, unless it's really a pre-owned laptop. |

QUOTE(shady @ Jul 31 2009, 11:19 AM) I got mine for RM299 at viewnet. czone is selling them for RM250 though. According to the czone pricelist it's 8MB cache whereas viewnet's 16MB. So I thought the RM49 difference must be due to the superior cache. I didn't notice this before leaving the store but on my receipt it's stated as WD HDD SATA 320GB 7200RPM 8MB. I thought I was given the wrong version, so I checked online with the model number and all and it turns out there is NO 8MB version for WD Scorpio black. Should've bought at czone! I guess they didn't know about the mistake on their pricelist since it has been like that for quite a while. My other mistake is not asking for the free-fall sensor version. With free-fall sensor = WD3200BJKT Without free-fall sensor = WD3200BEKT Product Link Oh yes the system feels snappier, especially when opening a folder with lots hi-res photos in thumbnails. Oh and the noise level seems just a lil bit higher.
