For CQ series I have done "surgery" few times.
Going to do it 1 more time next weekend. This time I'm gonna apply TX-3 for the processor.

Anyone knows any shop to get CQ series 6 cell battery?Tried searching at HP website but nothing there.Garage sale also not much info on the price.
I'll be grateful if anyone give me an estimated price for this battery.

My sisters Compaq CQ40-115AU is dead beyond repair.
Confirmed as graphic chip issue so sent it to ganapathi but even he cannot repair it.

So I'm going to dismantle all the hardwares & sell it separately.Anyone want to buy parts pm me starting this Friday. No battery since it went kaput 3 months ago.

It's not a big problem for her since she is perfectly capable of buying any laptop anytime she wants.
I just confirmed with her around 5pm yesterday that her laptop cannot be repaired & by 7pm she already bank in money to my account & asked me to buy another laptop doh.gif
Going to buy HP laptop this evening.Quite nice spec with 3 years of warranty.

wow a cq40 thread thats' still going strong biggrin.gif. i bought 3 cq40 last year for my sis, wife and broinlaw. 2 of them went back to hp to change lcd in the first 3 months. but no problem since then... perhaps some heating up, which can be solved with a proper fan. 3 year warranty is doing this notebook some justice really. any problem simply send back to hp for repair biggrin.gif

CQ40 models got quite a number of RMA for 2 reason.
Slightly bad casing design that prevent good airflow(this cause the infamous graphic chip spoils because the chip is situated beside the CPU & hot air blows to it during laptop usage).
Loose lcd connector which sometime can cause no display. This isn't a major problem for experienced user who knows how to dismantle laptop.Unplugging the connector & reconnecting it solve the problem most of the time.

I guess early adopters of CQ40 are a bit lucky? tongue.gif
Coz my 125AX is still working fine, since 2008. Didn't even bother taking the extended warranty when I had the chance.
I use it mostly to watch HD movies and surf the net.

Early adopters are the ones who have to be carefull.Initial CQ40 models are the ones who have problems.
CQ42 have less problem though.

I'm referring to the CQ40 series, not CQ42.  biggrin.gif

What I meant is the earlier, slightly lower-spec models e.g. CQ40-125AX/126AX/33/34 etc...
*
I know what you mean.
I was saying that comparing the RMA claim,CQ40 have way more problem then CQ42.One of the HP technician told me this when I went to send a laptop for RMA.

Lol most people selling off CQ40 for a new PC. Maybe i should do the same? Mine almost 2 years already but no problem at all. Only it's super super super hot.

It's the CPU that is overheating. If you know how to disassemble the laptop I suggest you to replace the thermal paste.
Else you can sent it to any computer shop to help you to do it.
If you leave it just like that eventually you'll have the graphic chip problem cause the hot air from cpu will damage the graphic chip that is situated beside it.
