check HP website....last time i had that problem too...it was flashing 3 times that repeat again....
from the website it stated...that it is a RAM problem...i had to clean the RAM and reseat...than i can on my laptop...

my CQ40 can shoot up until 96c for prime95 . with turion RM74 2.2ghz

i would like to know do amd or compaq improve in this new model .

it is on coolermaster notepal infinite plus a undervolt to 1.05v for 2.2ghz

agree. quite troublesome to remove the screw before can reach the heatsink.
btw my cq40 running 70c-75c during load. is this normal?

My dvdrom is dead..any idea how to repair it? Did you guys think if I update the firmware it should be ok?

It can detect cd/dvd..but whenever I try to open files inside cd/dvd, myy lappie failed sad.gif

Ok, guess what, after I flashed the BIOS from version 4A to 49, all the problem gone. Not even can read the data properly, now I can write/burn the data properly ...thanks guys! Very nice info on 1st page...keep it up smile.gif

Anybody experience overheated CPU temperature after bios upgrade? Mine around 98C after flashed to v 4.9 sad.gif

my cq40-401ax cannot turn on again... now the LED blink 4 times indicate there is a GPU problem... anyone got tips how to solved it? warranty finish already.... sad.gif

dude, pray hard it start working again then quickly go to HP center n extend d warranty. shud cost RM2xx iinm unsure.gif

you only can extend the warranty on first few month when u purchase your laptop.

you only can extend the warranty on first few month when u purchase your laptop.

even aftr u're warranty had been due long b4, still it can be extended for a year only after d technician checks all d parts to make sure its original n working to enable u to receive d warranty smile.gif

If you don't like extra heat from your notebook, better avoid CQ40 Series altogether. Advise from experience.
