Thanks for the info =D. Nah i most prob will give them a few try, if the fella keep eating the shrimps then i'll use ottos only.

QUOTE(chuppy2 @ Oct 22 2009, 08:52 AM)
that's gonna be one heck of a happy puffer IMHO lol...

Plants like glosso need sufficient light and conditions ( c02 as well ) to thrive. Moss on the other hand is much more forgiving.

Hmm means if i want to go glosso, i gotta DIY sad.gif. will it be lots of maintenance. My working condition requires me to OT quite often, and i work on saturdays too lol. Already need to devote myself to changing 30% of the water everyweek for the puffer's sake >.<.

Gotta get my 6+gal tank this week. Hopefully can get this started soon. Need to cycle the tank right? Just gonna get the pour in bacteria, and let the water sit for a few days with some changes in between. Is this right? After that only i introduce the substrate and plants? Or do i introduce before that?

Thanks guys smile.gif

you can introduce the substrate and plants before you even fill the tank up with water biggrin.gif. You're on the money here.. Let the tank cycle etc etc. Seems like you did your research lol.

Trying to read here and there la =D. So means my action plans is:

1) Buy tank + light + HOB filter
2) Rinse tank lightly to clean?
3) Put substrate and plant
4) Fill with tap water (do i need to dechlorinate?)
5) Add bacteria
6) Let it sit for 2-4 days and change 50% water in between
7) Introduce puffer + shrimps together
8) Weekly 30% water change + filter cleaning?

Is my steps ok?
Or should i introduce the shrimps first before step 6?

Thanks =D

Hey guys, i would like to get some help on my new fish tank. I've recently take up planted aquariums and i don't know what are the guide's to let the plants maintain and i have yet not decided on what fish to put into my tank.

I heard you guys mentioning CO2, how do i place CO2 for my tank? And is water heater advisable ?

This is a picture of my new fish tank. It's measurement is : 18 inch x 9 inch x 9 inch.

Is my fish tank still able to put more plants? Or do i need to make it full & add the wooden log/branch?

Pls guide me along my way to a new journey of planted aquarium. biggrin.gif

Hi, refer here for DIY CO2 : http://www.plantedtank.net/articles/DIY-Yeast-CO2/7/

Those are moss, there are many types of them..mine is either java moss or singaporean moss. refer here for more info: http://www.aquamoss.net/. For leafty plants, anubias and those with rhizomes can be tied on driftwood to grow

Hi bro, i have no idea on the plant ID..for easy to grow/maintain plant, i would suggest go for anubias..I have a DIY CO2 but I am not putting it inside my tank yet..i am assuming its not necesaary for simple low tech tank like mine..

Have a look at our own Malaysian Aquascaping Club forum for better guidance/info: http://www.my-mac.net/forum/
