These are the prices online in

Amazon
- Logitech Z906 = USD370
- Onkyo HT 3500 (after discount) = USD250

Lazada.com.my
- Logitech Z906 = RM1,169
- Onkyo HT 3500 = RM2,519

Can someone tell me what's going on here?? The price differential is enormous. Seems like we are paying a very high premium for Onkyo products here

Malaysians are paying A LOT for all HT items, not just Onkyo.
HT items are overpriced locally besides cars. For cars, we can blame government for protecting Proton and Perdua...but what's the reason for HT? There's no local HT competitor.

Yeah pathetic. Most Malaysian still watching movie on their computer and tablet or even handphone screen with earphones cause they cannot afford to buy proper HT system when we ourself make most of the HT in Selangor and Penang

gov view on HT: for datuk, yb, vip. denon, onkyo, lexicon...whatever HT brands, entry or high end are all rich men toys. for general consumer, if wanna setup HT, go to jln pasar to buy stuff.

it's like: toyota, honda, aston martin...whatever brand, entry or high end...all rich men toys. for general consumer, go to Jukebox shoe store and buy a slipper and walk yourself.

onkyo, yamaha, sony AVR all made in malaysia and after all these years still cannot find lubang to sell these product in Malaysia.

have to wait some employees of these companies to offer rejected unit to us.

I mean those sellers in ebay they're definitely not authorized dealer for Onkyo or Sony but they have ton of supplies and able to sell them to the whole world cheaper than the MSRP stated on Onyo or Sony official website.

And these things are not made in their countries but in our own backyard.

Why cant our HT seller in malaysia find all these lubang?

The hardware itself is not built to expand or add on. Well as for the speakers, it will need to look at the specs.

To connect to an AVR your player must have the necessary outputs (e.g. HDMI out or analog out) plus also the setting to stream out the audio/video to an AVR. Does your Sony BDV-E290 have such output and setting?

As for the speakers it depends on the method of connecting your speakers. Normally for HTIB set like yours the speakers use a special connector which doesn't fit normal AVR.

What i know is, this kind of company is place in free tradezone. Which subject to no tax/lower tax for their export product. It is 1 of the way to extract foreign to invest here. Many country to that too. If selling locally, subject to tax as normal import thing.

This company are following rule. And no hanky panky. If not, will mess up their acc.

Sure how tight it is, some people inside still can drill some lubang. biggrin.gif If you have the connection. I always in/out some of this manufacturing. Not a problem to get a parts. tongue.gif Even whole set offer to you. But no thanks.

Your HDMI output is mainly for video (to connect to TV). Check your manual if it can stream audio/video to AVR.
