Hi. I have a question to ask.

My philip fr996 ampliflier does not want to produce any sound for first 10 to 20 minutes after power on. Only pictures are produced.

After 20 twenty minutes elapsed the sound suddenly came back.

May I know what is the problem?

Do you feel that 1020 is struggling to drive 122?

The 122 does require more power to perform efficiently as it is rated at 86dB@6ohm.

Clipping as in a pause or silence at certain points in a movie? If so, will it be detrimental to the home theater setup?
I am using Yamaha v473 with PSB T1, C1 and S1(sub).

It's usually when you play too loud and your AVR doesn't have sufficient power to drive the speaker anymore. Usually the under powered amp was more damaging to the speakers compared to slight 'over powered' amp..

Your Yamaha V473 should be alright as long as you didn't turn up the volume too loud..

Referring to the specs above, the V473 outputs 105W/channel. The T1 and C1's recommended input power is up to 120W.

1. Are these the infos i should look for when i scout for amp/speakers to ensure compatibility?
2. Does it mean that i should get an amp that ouputs >120W / channel if i decide to upgrade the amp in the future?
3. The V673 and V773 are more pricey, yet the output wattage/channel is less than the V473?

Sorry, real noob here smile.gif

I took this from the same Amazon webpage of V473 - the output wattage is 80W. Am really confused now...

Well sometimes the info on manufacturer wattage is based on 1 channel. Meaning 1 channel is 105W. When run on 5 channels it will 80w. This is just an example. You need to find out more on the specs in detail

Agreed with bro sonerin.. When all channel driven, usually the output will be lower than specified.. but as long as the output specified within the recommended power by the PSB speakers, it should be alright as long you don't drive it hard..

Hi all, i'm getting a proper avr and reusing my old hifi speakers.

If i have budget, which speaker/subwoofer should i upgrade 1st ? Does it make a difference to the sequence ?

I have a feeling its either the sub / ctr speaker right ?

If is for movie center speaker is the first. Then the front, follow by the sub. Careful of reusing hifi speaker. Must make sure it is compatible

These are the prices online in

Amazon
- Logitech Z906 = USD370
- Onkyo HT 3500 (after discount) = USD250

Lazada.com.my
- Logitech Z906 = RM1,169
- Onkyo HT 3500 = RM2,519

Can someone tell me what's going on here?? The price differential is enormous. Seems like we are paying a very high premium for Onkyo products here
