hey guys. sorry to bother but are there any decent amplifiers at a price below rm700? bought a hdtv but no omph in sound if u know what i mean. sigh... sorry for my tight budget.

p.s occupation student and part timer.

For me, it's better for you to get a HTiB if you're on a tight budget.. At least it give a 'decent' sounds until you can afford a more proper sound system setup.

There's plenty HTiB within your budget.

Hi guys, need some advice on a new 3D hdtv for my home theater setup.  i am going through an upgrade process one at a time and just recently bought the panasonic dmp-bdt210 blu-ray player (which is a 3D player) to upgrade my aging DVD player.

My current TV is a Pana Plasma TH42PA60A which is hooked up to a relatively new Pioneer VSX-1019AH.

Credit to Panasonic, the TV is more than 5 years old but the picture quality is still top notch but am looking for a Full HD and 3D TV.

Any recommendations?  I am still probably sticking to plasma (unless someone can convince me otherwise).  All the help you guys can give is appreciated.

Just got my Onkyo 609 smile.gif

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

I short listed 3 speaker sets for the receiver :

1.Jamo S606 - RM1899
2.Wharfedale Obsidian - RM2500
3.Mordaunt Short Aviano 6 - RM4000

Which will be a bang for my buck speaker set?

Any other speaker recomendation is welcomed as well

Your Mordaunt Short Aviano 6 come with which set of surround speaker? Aviano 1 or 2 or others? Aviano 5 as center speaker? RM4000 still quite reasonable compared to the price we pay in east Malaysia..

The best is still you audition your Onkyo 609 with all the 3 sets of speaker and see which suits your taste the most..

yes currently looking for 5.1 but will upgrade to 7.1 in future

Added on November 12, 2011, 11:02 pm

Yes, the surround speakers are Aviano 2 and center is Aviano 5. Its a bit expensive for me but if the sound performance succeeds the other 2 (jamo and wharfdale), i m willing to pay for the Aviano.

Kindly advise.
Any1 with wharfdale obsidion experience ?
*
If you're happy with the sound performance and still within what you can afford, then just go for it instead of thinking of upgrade again later.. Previously I was quoted RM4400 for the same setup in Sarawak.. I ended up with Aviano 8, Aviano 5 and Aviano 6 and so far happy with my new setup since June this year.. rclxms.gif

how do u guys hide the surround speaker cables normally? im setting up an entry level setup and dunno how to hide the surround..at the moment only 2.1 sad.gif centre and rear speaker still thinking how to place it
*
Mine have the conduit for the surround cable consealed under the tiles when the house still under construction.. but that's limited to the 5.1 syatem setup. It's still not too bad though. Maybe you can consider using carpet, hide the cable underneath or in future if do plan for renovation, hide the surround speaker cable underneath the laminated flooring..

Just make sure your speaker wire not exposed to mouse if it's not in a PVC pipe.. Else you might wonder why surround no sound one fine day.. biggrin.gif

Bro Htkaki...

I called him already. You re right... he quoted me for 673 at a very gud price.

I asked on the 810 but he said better go for 820 as well. But the price for 820 is beyond my budget already.

So.. i think i will just stick with 673.
*
Sometime it's good to stretch a bit the budget again if it's just a few hundred ringgit difference.. At least it's the latest model and can last sometime before the next upgrade itch which might cost even more.. biggrin.gif

That set is rekcron by retail chain smile.gif sen q
As my area don't have much HT shop sad.gif
*
Since that's the recommended setup from sales at SenQ, then bring your own favourite demo blu-ray or movie and test it out and see if you're happy with the sound from the system. Normally the same system should sound better at your home as SenQ Miri HT was placed in open space. System mentioned by you was quite reasonable as a entry setup and maybe you can try to get the price quote from King Sound , same level with SenQ at Bintang Megamall. Or just tell the owner your budget and see what he can suggest to you. The owner of the King Sound was knowledgeable on audio system setup as I think he's more than 20 years in the audio system line.

Was there in Miri 2 weekends ago and happen to drop by. The owner was doing some demo with higher end stuff(tube power amp with speaker that cost some RM10K) to his potential customer then. Just tumpang there have a look. I do drop by the SenQ before King Sound. biggrin.gif

yup.. It's 2011 model but the price was cheap to resist for those who want some basic yet affordable setup. i think the same speaker set was used for the 2012's HTP-RS552 if I look at the spec listed at Pioneer Malaysia web..

thanks for the reply

yes the hd player has a optical output so does the HT sc-pt465 with optical input and output.
i dun don't have an optical cable..how much does it cost to get 1?
another thing..

can i just add/modify external Speakers to a TV as sound output rather using the TV build in..

like pc speakers..easier with just 1 green jack..

posible? got such convertor or shop can modify for it to work?
*
Toslink cable doesn't cost a lot to get 1 such as the link below.

http://www.lelong.com.my/optical-fibre-cab...7-01-Sale-I.htm

Also, I don't think the TV built in circuit will have sufficient power to drive your external speaker..

noted..thanks for the info

but if the external speaker is selfpower..like those pc speakers..but onli has a 3.5" jack( i think that what it call)

can those be plug to TV? posible to modify?
*
For the self powered external speaker, of course you can. You have to check if your TV have the 3.5mm headphone output jack. Else modification will be troublesome and void the warranty..
