I think I will create a work log later. I need to hack up some walls in the current room. I am allocating about 4ft from the back wall to hide the speakers and sub, although I wont be using perforated screen, I don't want the speaker's reflection to interfere with my viewing experience. I will be using 2'x4'x2" panels filled with 2'x4' 100lb density rock wool. As well as a superchuck basstrap on every corner. Just came back from Sg. Buloh after checking out on some materials.

@ alamak - thanks for sharing all the above info. 42U racks are pretty common here in HK, that's why I asked....

That was what I had in mind too... 42U rack is quite easy to get, right? My server room has a couple of them. I was thinking having one too for my HT room but then later think it is too big to be put in the room...

Added on May 28, 2011, 9:45 pmBut it is nice to put everything in to one rack, AlamakLor. Is the rack connected to one power source? Able to handle all equipment without problem, just curious...

My experience has been that over 37U is a little harder to find without approaching the right source. I actually find rack mounted casing even harder to source.

Wiring of the rack is as follow:

- Unraid, HTPC, Switch, Gateway -> Rackmount APC
- Rackmount APC -> APC Surge protector
- All other equipments -> Rack PDU
- PDU, APC -> APC Surge protector
- APC surge protector -> wall

I will be adding a cheapo 550VA APC battery (RM165) to power the projector in case of black out. I don't turn every single electronics on at the same time, but turning on the receiver which in turns automatically triggers the amp to turn on hasn't caused switch to flip yet.

hope u can share your log with pics.. I'm shifting to a bigger place so need some inspiration on setting up a dedicated room. Also a neat freak and hate wires hanging all over.

Managed to check out bro mpyw's castle.. I think in terms of wiring and speaker stealth mode it is one of the best I've seen so far smile.gif all wires are hidden and even the speaker can't be seen.

Mock-up. Trying to see what's the maximum screen size i can obtain. I hacked some walls today and almost destroyed a beam lol.

user posted image

I'd either be building a black box to surround the screen with all the speakers hidden, or have the screen built in front of the speakers while not obstructing them. I don't want to use perforated screen. I powered them up today and the dynamic range is more than enough for my room. Klipsch is freaking awesome biggrin.gif

Danny, I wish I would have the moolah for the sub2.
Wifey already complained on the S6 curvy shape. Luckily I didn't get the cherry version. She told me it's like coffin... sweat.gif

I am having setup problem and need time to run it the fronts. The fronts do not sound quite right to me now.
A power amp is needed and futher fine tuning is required.

I think about 12-13 ft first row and 15-17ft back row. Going to be very busy these few weeks, lots of wall to hack. biggrin.gif

Oh I have a pair of old dipole klipsh surround, it's not getting any use. Should I bother using it as front height? I have extra zone on the receiver that I can use to do so but I'm pretty sure the timbre would be a little messed up (if detectable)

Not advisable to use dipole as FH or FW. You may put it into good use as surround.

Maybe I can remove the driver and disable one side of the speaker. I don't need more surrounds. I have 2 pairs of RS-62.

The room is not very big, I think 13' x 20+' maybe a tad wider. After treatment I'd lose quite a bit of length. I need to pull up google sketch to get the exact measurement. My max screen size would be around 134" at 16:9

I have an idea of getting a HD projector, mount it on the headboard and project it on the bedroom ceiling, so while i lay down i can watch something instead of the bare ceiling.

Am i crazy?
