someone is pissed haha
you guys should have followed all the posts in all the threads to get a glimpse of the situation. logit got that coming.

but i do have to agree, a kampung man could (and would possibly) have more land than a city boy and still live in a hut wooden house and drive around in 15yo broken saga. land is cheap. you could get an acre of land with the price of some subwoofer.

different people with different priorities in life smile.gif
*
we no longer live in the 60s where land is cheap. Even leasehold agriculture land in faraway places like Kelantan costs RM30-50k an acre, and you can't just buy an acre. Most land titles come in hundreds of acres or thousands of acres, meaning you have to be able to spend millions just to buy so called 'cheap' land.

I still have the same speakers stored from years back! Where did u get your McLarens? The front speakers can be bi-amped. Did you use bi-amp setup? How do they sound with your Yamaha? I remembered they sound quite decent for movies with a Yamaha amp but music only so-so. The huge bass is good enough that you don't really need a sub.

Even if you have capable speakers with good bass, having a sub can be beneficial especially for movies.

1. For movies the bass is normally in the .1 LFE channel which goes to the sub. If you don't have a sub, your AVR must have some way to redirect the .1 LFE channel to the main speakers. Otherwise you won't be getting the bass effects from the LFE channel.

2. Delivering powerful bass needs good amp power. Even if your speakers can go low, you need a matching powerful amp in order to push your speakers to produce that powerful bass. Having a separate sub means you free up amp power to drive the speakers.

3. Even if your speakers can go low, can it go as low as a sub? Or can it produce the same quantity/quality of bass as a sub?

Yea I know, these were my 1st hifi set many years ago. Was using yamaha amp. Of cos cant compare with dedicated sub but still ok.

thumbup.gif nice setup!! love the way how you place you notebook on top of the SVS SB12 NSD subwoofer. nice table top huh??  smile.gif

Also, how's the experience of having 2 subs??
*
haha it does serve an extra purpose. I just have an extra sub so decided to pair it with the 3311. Of coz still lose to svs but the 2 subs does give more feel during low frequency. Just watched war of the worlds and the low bass tremble can be felt.

Looks like I will be upgrading my amp first coz someone offered to buy it so Im thinking 4311 or A100 from Denon since it can calibrate 2 subs seperately.

Hello, just to share with you guys, my very 1st humble set up that I can afford currently  laugh.gif . In fact nothing much I could do with this rented property as well, hopefully surrounding flat neighbour and landlord wont knock my door and complain and that will be great enough  thumbup.gif

(will have some tiny upgrade on thursday as another pair of floor standing is on its way)  icon_rolleyes.gif

Cheers

What speakers are those? Looks like a new and neat room! Any idea why you pit the speakers on the left side of the room leaving a few feet of space on the right? Also why is the center speaker on the floor?

I think I will create a work log later. I need to hack up some walls in the current room. I am allocating about 4ft from the back wall to hide the speakers and sub, although I wont be using perforated screen, I don't want the speaker's reflection to interfere with my viewing experience. I will be using 2'x4'x2" panels filled with 2'x4' 100lb density rock wool. As well as a superchuck basstrap on every corner. Just came back from Sg. Buloh after checking out on some materials.

hope u can share your log with pics.. I'm shifting to a bigger place so need some inspiration on setting up a dedicated room. Also a neat freak and hate wires hanging all over.

Managed to check out bro mpyw's castle.. I think in terms of wiring and speaker stealth mode it is one of the best I've seen so far smile.gif all wires are hidden and even the speaker can't be seen.

Danny, I wish I would have the moolah  for the sub2.
Wifey already complained on the S6 curvy shape. Luckily I didn't get the cherry version. She told me it's like coffin... sweat.gif

I am having setup problem and need time to run it the fronts. The fronts do not sound quite right to me now.
A power amp is needed and futher fine tuning is required.

Lol unfortunately wife approval doesn't really coincide with our hobby unless everything is enclosed even the sub.. But having something canggih sometimes must show show abit la..

I hope that my next upcoming dwelling will be a more rewarding result than current one. Hope to join the projector owner group soon smile.gif somehow tv doesn't cut it anymore after kena poison by bro htkaki and mpyw ht setup!

A lot of missing effects without the subwoofer. In fact the next upgrade for a 5.1 should be 5.2.

Congrats doc! Finally join the projector gang, I'm sure the tv looks very small after you've gotten used to the projector. What is the screen size and distance between the projector?
