Hi,
Just want to confirm.
Can I goto lowyat any IT shop buy any DDR3 ram and use in my MacBook unibody??
*
Yes, but make sure you test the RAM on the spot, cause Macbook is very picky when comes to RAM. For example, I bought a Kingston 4GB RAM label "KVR". After using for while, I got beach ball problem when launching some applications. Went back to the shop changed to Apple Certified RAM label "KTA", no more beach ball problem, everything works fine.
The funny thing is one of my friend use "KVR" RAM, don't get the beach ball problem at all. So I guess its depends on your luck. cool2.gif

I don't mind paying them to do it for me as I am no expert in this . Might as well just to get them to do it rather than me spoiling it . Oh yea , I noticed something as well ... Does the Mhz matters on the ram ?

I have seen it on my lappy saying that 1GB DDR3 1067Mhz ... What if I get higher MHZ or Lower ? Will it affect anything ? And does it matter whether 5400 RPM or 7200 RPM to use on my HDD ?

MBP's Internal HDD / RAM

You should get DDR3 1067MHz SODIMM. 1333MHz is also backward compatible. But your mac will only run at 1067MHz.

As of HDD, the faster the RPM, the faster the drive access and write files. In layman terms. But many cases it's matter of seconds or minutes. 7200rpm drive for laptop also come in smaller capacity at the moment. 320GB WD Black is the common one. The 500gb n 1TB drive you seek is still at 5400RPM only.

But MBP still cannot support 1TB internal HDD yet right ? Or have not been proven safe ?

Am considering upgrading my external LCD, currently 1680X1050 to a 1920X1200 but a little worried my MB's GMA950 may not be able to handle it. As much as Intel says it can, I have yet to be able to find a real life situation that says it's totally compatible.

Any suggestions? Ideas? Advice?

why dont u go to the website n look at their prices? normally buying local is cheaper since no need to pay for shipping. unless you wanna go for brands like OWC, Crucial, then have to get online since they dont sell it in malaysia AFAIK

Haha.. Currently connected to a Dell E228WFP, entry level monitor, thinking of upgrading to a Dell U2410 UltraSharp, at the same time can hook up my old PS2 to it. Just need to make sure my MB's GMA950 can power it up.

Yup. External. Any advice? The Dell U2410 UltraSharp will cost RM1,599 now, not really expensive for an IPS LCD I guess, but at that price I can also buy a 32' LCD TV with some to spare. Sigh..

Yea I noticed some feedbacks on the tint issue, only consolation is Dell is honouring the warranty replacement policy. Anyway I need to ensure my MB can power it up first, might look into other monitors as well.
