QUOTE(tankcmy @ Sep 19 2011, 02:20 AM) There are many brands of RAM available and it all depends on your budget, reliability and preference. You can use Kingston KTA RAM or the KVR RAM. KVR is cheaper as it is a Value RAM. KTA RAM is specific formApple. Do check out the Kingston website for more info. There are also many other brands that may be used. Most important you get the compatible type of RAM |

Why someone need 16GB of RAM on a laptop? You run virtualization x2/x3? Run 20-30 apps all the time? Or you using some RAM hungry app?

Haha, upgraded my desktop to 16GB thinking of running multiple VMs .. to the end, just run one VM and it doesn't use more than 8GB right now.. what a waste really.. |

QUOTE(Masculine @ Sep 17 2011, 09:20 PM) I have this 1TB maxtor external HDD I bought some 3 years ago.. use it for my window files... "strangely" enough my mac can read it and I can transfer my old files in the HDD to my imac... I always thought this can't be done because of the different formatting.. and of the things that keep me delaying for getting into macs... As long your HDD in FAT32 you can still read and write in native MacOS..if your external formatted as NTFS there's 3rd party NTFS-3G or Paragon NTFS for u to use..That's normal for seller at Lowyat to have different price on each items they sell, even tough the brand and model is exactly same..just the matter if you are good enough to do bargaining with them.. Wish if the Mac Pro is same as well as previous Power Mac, which can use normal RAM sold at Lowyat |

Hi guys.
after reading about cheap rams... i've followed suit and bought 8GB ram for my MBP... 150 for 8gb..i say it's not bad... anyway... after installing everything went smoothly...no weird errors or anything.. but it seems my programs are all still slow... hahahahaha... is there anything i can do to make things faster? or did i have a very wrong impression that more rams can help speed up things? Help please! |
