Hi,

For just music only and affordable pricing with no handfree and no radio I got my daughter a Logitech Pure-Fi Express Plus which is GSM shielded. She loves it because the function for her songs and it charges the phone also and the sound is pretty good to fill up a small room and can be battery operated.

I think pricing is around RM350 - RM390. Make sure the dock you purchase are iPhone certified if not it may crackle and hum when ever an SMS and call comes in.

hmm, ok, how much is the JBL on stage? oh, it would be cool if future poster can include a rough price on it. i m thinking of getting one, but no idea how it sound. i just googled, it seems lots of result on altec lansing t612.

oh, i understand that most of the dock charge the iphone while its in the dock, but do u think if we always use the dock, it would reduce the battery life? u know, constant charging. keke..

i tried the Logitech Pure-Fi Anywhere, but the sound quality is not that good.

Another good speaker i recommend is B&W Zeppelin. Sound quality is really good.

more technical talk here. i am also wondering if the call vibration would somehow damage the phone or the connector.

also, the constant charging of the phone while on dock.

anyone come across or suffered problems like these? be it ipod or the iphone.

the constant charging thing oso worries meh. coz like for those cordless tel, we constantly put in the cradle, battery life span is rather short.

When they ask you meant that the unit is not certified for iPhone 3G. Does it crackle or buzz when a call or SMS comes in ?

If budget is an issue, B&W is certainly not for you. Their Reference 800 series speakers is widely acknowledged as the best in the world. The design and technology that goes into those speakers have been applied and used in the creation of the Zeppelin.

Music through HT setup is flat at best. Which is why audiophiles have specific and separate setup for their home theatre system meant to be used with movies, and their audio playing equipments. Using one for the other will deflate your listening experience.

But hey, money talks these days, both in term of whether you have it, or not. I totally understand where you are coming from when you say it is expensive. But my test yesterday reveals an audio experience, unmatched by any other iPod speakers setup, even the Sounddock II from Bose. If you are serious about listening lossless sound from your iPod, this is it.

So how is it? Do you have to enable flight mode and will it charge your iphone.

no need to enable flight mode.. yes, it charges the iphone while in dock...sound quality, i m pretty happy with it.... actually i tested another 400ID, its more expensive by around RM400-500, but i dun think the slight performance gain is worth the difference...

BTW I went to Machines Gardens Mid Valley and tested out Altec Lansing T612.

I have even tested calling in and there was no buzzing or static noise but a simple cut off to ringtone to answer the call. FYI it also has the remote and I can confirm that the battery icon was charging.

I am totally impressed but sadly there was no stock available. The price qouted was RM800++ (can't remember exactly).

UPDATE: I have found a cheaper place to get this speaker. Price is RM699 and you can self collect the hardware if you don't trust pos malaysia or gdex to handle this delicate merchandise http://www.qwerty.com.my/index.php?main_pa...roducts_id=2485

Hi i just wanna ask anyone out there have purchase these type of docking station for their iPhones.

Logitech
http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/speakers...s/4782&cl=my,en

and there are a lot more out there that i have seen like BOSS, Altech Lansing and many more.

Just wish to ask whether these things can actually use the alarm that have been set inside our iPhones or not? or are they independent from one another.

Can we connect these things to the PC with itunes so that when we slip in the iPhone it will start to sync.

But I watched in the YouTube video that the dock is quite sturdy and heavy. And if you push it, it won't just tip over.
But I can't seem to find it here in KL. I've only seen the universal dock from Griffin. Any ideas where to get the 3G only dock (besides eBay?)

I went to both Mid Valley and Gardens Machine - nope no 3G dock there. But for RM119, might as well get the Griffin Air Curve as suggested by harmeet15 (thanks bro!) I pick one up today.
The Air Curve cost me RM123. The Apple's 3G dock doesnt come with a cable and neither does the Air Curve but the Air Curve has two advantage - it acts as a powerless speaker and it serves as a dock as well. And it is more sturdy. You cant knock down the Air Curve like the Apple 3G dock. I wish it comes with a cable but it does not.
user posted image

An extra Apple Dock Connector USB cable cost RM79 !!!! Just a cable. I look around and found this -
user posted image

Ignore the flat pins for US. This USB power adaptor comes with a Malaysian 3 pin plug adaptor as well as a 2 pin. AND the most important thing is a dock cable is included - Price RM109
So instead of RM79 for a cable, might as well pay RM30 more for a power adaptor with cable.

A similar product is this - Apple World Travel Adaptor Kit - same as above but comes with even more adaptors for other countries. But no stock at Machines - anyone seen this before?
user posted image

Another similar product I saw was the Belkin Dual USB charger. It comes with 2 cables - one dock connector and one mini-USB cable. You can charge two device at once. Price around rm120

Btw I also found some Ayam Brand connector cable - RM30

No offend to any BOSE owners / fans, I find BOSE sound quality is at average only, with the price tag it carries, it is overpriced, at least to me. Again, this is my personal opinion and I have no intension to challenge any BOSE owners / fans.

I own a B&W CDM1 and I love it.

The definition of "good" different from person to person, you have to listen to the device yourself, experience it and you would know whether if it is to your liking.

Though wana get Apple Universal Dock , but AirCurve seems more reasonable and promising.

After looking everywhere,I saw some post saying that iPhone with a case can be put onto the AirCurve but only without the dock adaptor. This is what I wanted as I do not need to take off my case.

The only problem is what type of USB connector I should use, can I use the cable that came with my iPhone 3Gs or must I get another cable?

Will there be any problem when I dock and undock the iPhone with the cable equiped onto AirCurve since the cable will need to be snapped into the iPhone hole. Will the cable fall off or cause troubles?

hey you dont exactly need to 'snap' it into the apple universal dock. and urm if you guys are concerned abt iphones with casing, casing like capsule rebel actually comes with the dock adapter that lets the universal dock hold onto the phone with the cover perfectly.
urm im using the apple universal dock and im pretty contented with it. the classic white apple finish is what i was looking for. thats why i didnt buy the other dock mentioned above. biggrin.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

harmeet, thanks alot for sharing the pictures smile.gif .

Based on your picture , I noticed that since theres no adapter, the phone seems to be depending on the cable to stay at the right place or stable on the AirCurve. Is it true that the phone must be stuck with the cable when in case?

The snapping on and snapping off still concerns me the most, though... unsure.gif

Bro, in my opinion, when it comes to chargers and especially car chargers, don't go so cheap. Just spend a little bit more money and invest in a better quality charger from a well known brand like Griffin or something. It's not like buying a cheap casing, coz all u might probably get are scratches but the phone is still functioning. If the cheap charger is not properly rated and does not have any protection against surges or power spikes while charging in the car, you'll probably end up with a dead phone.

So to put it very simply, if u can afford to get an iPhone, u can most definitely afford to get a good proper charger.

I'm happy with mine. Just make sure the rubber sleeve sits at the very edge of the curve so that your iPhone can touch the curve.

Actually I dont need to car charger, I just need the USB cable as mine is not working now. Also the wall charger. Prob is everywhere is go, the packaging is the same, and some claim that theirs are ori and some not.

Actually I dont need to car charger, I just need the USB cable as mine is not working now. Also the wall charger. Prob is everywhere is go, the packaging is the same, and some claim that theirs are ori and some not.
How much is this selling at Apple Stores?

RM119. and for those 3rd party chargers/cables, there have been cases reported where the charging/dock port on the phone was damaged due to 'em. best to avoid them and spend a lil bit more for original ones. smile.gif

What do you think about this model from Capdase (HK)

user posted image

It has 4 adapters and the best part it comes with DUAL USB power output meaning you can charge two device at one go! But i wonder it will provide individual 1amp power or it's shared meaning it only output 500mA each port. And Ipod/Iphone dock cable but i wonder is it certified by Apple.

And the price goes for RM 69 only

Hi peeps,

Instead of looking for cheap alternatives, Y not just get an international adaptor?!

@idoblu,
RM149 for the World Travel Adaptor Kit doesn't seem very expensive to me; I thought I read it was RM199 *shrug* Then again I don't travel the world so I probably don't need it; besides I need the $ for the damn USB hub & FW400 to FW800 convertor!! *iSh*

@jimmylim85:
i think the ones by Capdase are pretty reliable. knew couple of users who opted for that. no problem reported so far. (any company which tries to release/market an Apple-compatible product gotta seek approval from Apple, no?)

@Tainted:
you can get it from HERE

Yeah, if Apple found that black square tag is not given by Apple.... they will sue the company claiming to be approved by Apple. I guess Capdase is certified accessories provider for Apple.

i will never scoop for anything, which is not made for/by iPhones.

i would rather not own that said item (regardless of the price), if there is a certain level dodgy-ness instilled it it.

most of the docks, comes parallel with charging and also as a music station.

i have never come across a third party manufacturer (at least a legit one) with a charging dock.

anyone?

I'm looking for a air-conditioner vent mounting clip for my iphone for use in my car. Something that will be ok with the fact that I've got a case on my phone (so a little adjustable).

Failing that, a windscreen mount (with suction cup), provided that it is legal here in Malaysia (I'm not sure of the laws, but it never seems to be the same anywhere I go, can anyone inform me?). Again, something that will accommodate the fact I've got my phone in a case.

I'm wanting to mount it with good visibility to the sky through my windscreen for optimal GPS reception. I find if I have it sit in my center console, or mounted out of my cig lighter plug it can frequently lose reception, so I end up having to hold the thing out in front of my while I drive when I get lost which isn't the safest of things to do.

So, can anyone recommend where to get either of these products? I live in petaling jaya, although I'm happy to make a trip into KL or anywhere else not too far away to pick something like this up.

On a personal note, please never every buy cheaplak cables to connect to your Iphone/Ipods I've had many Ipods over the years and most have seen fairly high usage.. but my IPot is the only one with problems to its charging port now, because of a no-brand ipod cable ..

I bought it one day when I realized I was in the office (used to work in BTS) and had no cable to charge my IPot, so I went to a crappy store and bought a cheaplak rm 20 cable.. that thing had always been a "tight" fit into the port and now my IPoT even with an original cable needs to jiggle the cable a bit and not touch it for it to start charging sad.gif

i got mine from this mobile phone accessory shop in 1Utama, about RM20 bucks if i recall correctly. the whole package includes a windscreen mount with suction cup, and also an air-cond vent mounting clip together. i've been using the windscreen mount and it's been very sturdy so far.

i can't remember what's the name of the shop, i think it's called Novacell, but i can roughly tell you where in 1Utama it is:

it's located on the top floor, near TGV, at the stretch where it starts connecting to the new wing. directly opposite TGV's popcorn counter is a shoe shop, so walk down along that stretch of shops, and u'll see Novacell. it should be the 3rd or 4th shop on that row.

tink,

Pure-Fi Dream(rm1100+) sound quality is very good. I just don't like the small clock display. It's much more expensive than purefi anytime(rm400+), hence i went and bought anytime instead.

Yeah the price of the Logitech Pure-Fi Dream is a bit steep. Anyhow, just wanna check, does the GSM thingy work; as in when a call comes in when the iPhone is docked in, does it give you any "noise"?

Also, is RM970 a good price for it, in your opinion?

as i said, i'm not willing to pay 1k for a dock. If i have that cash, i will definitely go for Dream as the sound quality is so much nicer than Anytime.

I recall I tested GSM and it worked. Don't take my word for it, just go to MidValley IT center. there is a Logitech store there with all the iphone/pod dockings displayed side by side for u to test. U can plug ur iphone in and try all features to ur heart's content. Then u will know wat i mean by Dream's audio is so much more better cool.gif

I think the cheap cables are ok to use, but just need to be careful when plugging in and out to avoid damaging the iphone jack. but i suggest to charge only with PC/notebook USB (not direct house outlet) if using the cheap cable.

If you went to Midvalley Logitech shop, Capdase Dock Connector for Apple is just RM 48. Yet you still can bargain maybe like RM 45. brows.gif

Ok can we also discuss about car stereo with ipod ready in this thread? Or we need to create a new thread? Mod please advice.

I just sent my car to perodua for service and they pass me this perodua accessories catalog. At the back of the catalog features a few car stereo by JVC and one by Pioneer.

The model series is as below (I include price with installation):

JVC

JVC KD-DV7405 - RM1.398
JVC KW-XG706 - RM1,102
JVC KD-BT11 - RM875

user posted image
A picture of the KD-BT11

My choice is the budget KD-BT11. The KD-DV7405 is overkill for me since it also supports divx, but the price quoted above is without the LCD screen.

More info here: http://www.jvc.com.my/in-car_entertainment.html

Pioneer

Pioneer FH-P5000MP - RM1,3XX (can't remember exactly)

Any more recommendation, please provide here.

Also anyone with these units installed care to give hands on review.

Is there any car mount that work well with Griffin Clarifi phone case without removing the case?

Windshield or dashboard mount is okay, but prefer dashboard mount. Then able to rotate 360 degree so that our iPhone can be in vertical and horizontal mode.
Is there any recommendation for this kind of car mount?

RM769 from switch....

The price is on the high side but after comparing hell lots of models from Machines and Switch outlets that include

Logitech Pure Fi Range (which is a little cheaper but doesnt sound good)
I tried the Sharp i-Elegance (nop do not sound that nice oso)
I tried Altec Lansing Range (Sound good but quite Big)
I tried Bose (Sound good cant afford)
I tried B&W (That will be my ultimate dream speaker cant afford hehehe)

I tested few JBL systems, that include Onstage IIIP and 200ID and 400ID

the 200ID sound great but doesnt not support battery

I tried out the IIIP and it sound great, Bass and trabel is Great really sound like my HIFI more than sound like mini speakers...

Highly recomended!!!!

i recently bought this iLuv, my friend went to Singapore and he help me to tested it from there, the sound to me is quite good compare to those standard market product like jamo / altec lansing / JBL / bose (Those entry level that you can see from the store).

the price was around rm600 after covert. Eventually i didnt saw any of this in MY, but my friend from BVM2 (apple shop) told me that they are selling at rm1xxx previously. I guess maybe worth to buy in Sing

Happy with it coz almost every features in too (BT / CD / Radio / Iphone and ipod / AUX in / USB / Alarm. Is a good choice

I've got an old belkin fm transmitter/charger for the car and it doesn't charge my iphone 3gs, though it does transmit the fm signal.

What I'm looking for it something like this ...

http://www.amazon.com/Griffin-Charge-Conve...s/dp/B001OI2VGI

... which is made by Griffin. It plugs into the iphone and acts as a go-between between your old-school charger and your new-and-annoying iDevice to make the charging circuit compatible.

Does anyone know where around KL I could get something like this? I would prefer the Griffin unit, although to be honest I'd be willing to try just about any brand if it worked.

I've tried the obvious (being apple stores) although they seem to be quite a few years behind the rest of the world in knowing what technology is available for their products (and I'm not about to pay 350rm for a new charger/transmitter through them).

Alternatively, if anyone knows where I can get a new charger/transmitter that will charge the 3gs such as the Belkin TuneCast Auto Live ...

http://www.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.pro...duct_Id=493610#

... that won't cost me more than it would cost for me to ship it from AU/US myself, let me know where and how much.

i have a Plantronics/Altec Backbeat 903. To me, it's good. bought it recently when i was in UK. very cheap there. selling price + tax + shipping cost me 47 pounds, not even rm250 here.

So far, here i see ppl selling Plantronics/Altec Backbeat 906, but not 903 and the selling price is rm400 if not mistaken.

I think Sony IS800 should also be a good stereo bluetooth. can find in lowyat but it's expensive around rm400

Anyone bought the Belkin Car Charger which plugs to the cigarette plug and has a hard flexible connection like this?
http://www.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.pro...oduct_Id=519157

Well, I bought it for just under RM300 and I am wondering how to resolve an issue where when the car swerves left or right, the plug isn't tight enough and the phone will fall to either side.

Tried this on my Kelisa, a Honda Jazz and a Honda Civic, all with the same effect. How the hell does Belkin expects the phone to remain upwards without falling either side? Can I go to Belkin and ask for a refund/change product or do they expect me to hold the phone when I make my turns?

Try Arkon (www.arkon.com). I'm using the windshield mount for my i3G. Now I'm going to get another one for my i4.

Local distributor is in PJ. They got a booth in Midvalley. Lower Ground, in front of maybank/chicken rice shop.

The built is quite sturdy. Not bad as it's priced at RM50-60.

i'm thorn to select between these 2 portable (rechargeble battery) speakers for my iPhone 3GS
1. Logitech S715i - http://www.logitech.com/en-my/speakers-aud...rs/devices/7209
2. Altec Lansing inMotion Classic - http://www.alteclansing.com/ae/us/home-spe...20/invt/imt620/
price wise is more or less around RM 650 max

my requirement at first was to have a speaker with built in FM, however since i've download hitz.fm and era.fm apps , FM function is not critical anymore, however i do find to have a portable & rechargeble battery speaker to be useful so that i can carry it around my house without depending on the location of the power plugs.

So guys, any comment? or any other recommendation on other products?

I have a question regarding those dual USB port chargers (either in-car charger or wall charger), they usually specifies output of 5V at 1A max. In this case, is both ports able to out 1A or it will be 500mA~ evenly distributed? There are no specifications that suggest this.

The Logitech Pure-Fi Express Plus is superb - crisp treble and lovely soundstage for its size.

I don't know why people are dissing it so much. Price-wise it's cheap and compared to the Altec Lansings in the same category has a good deal more precision and clarity.

I used ALAC files for the comparison tests and while the Altecs did give better bass - for a quiet environment and at low volume, the Purefi Express Plus is excellent.

Then again, I only got it to replace my alarm clock... tongue.gif

Is 1amp shared on both ports. Basically each port is given 500mA power as standard USB power specification. Apple AC wall charger is 1A, it charge faster than pc USB plug.

I need a 3.5mm earphone adapter (Male-Female 3.5mm) so that I could plug in my third party earphones, as they just don't fit into my bumper. Its something like the accessory which comes together with the SwitchEasy Casing for iPhone 3GS. Anyone?

Anyone have idea how should I connect my iphone with my Vios double din?
The din unit didn't have any line in option.
It is with CD and Cassette player only...
Need to line in especially when using Papago, the loudspeaker sucks badly,

some factory players come with a aux/line in jack at the rear (behind the player, not easily accessible)...i'm not sure whether your vios have that or not.

another solution, try finding an fm modulator with line in..

Bought this Belkin USB Car Charger 1A 5v output from http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=1581201&hl= at just RM 26.

Pros:
- Charges my iphone as fast my Apple AC Wall USB adapter since it's giving out 1A output.
- Small size and light weight. Perfect!

Cons:
- No usb cables provided.
- Single USB port only
- Runs hot.
- Doesn't support many USB charging device due to big amperage output (Nokia phone using small pin connector)

Anyway at RM 26, worth to charge your Apple device quick!

Golden rule, try to get those OEM that have six pins inside the dock connector. It works better than those cheap cable that only have 4 pins.

It is the JBL On Stage IV. Just had it for a couple of hours, the mid-hi is real crispy. Not much to talk about the bass, it is present considering the small size of the dock. The really neat thing is the optional USB connection to your Mac. You can actually sync your iPhone with your Mac while docking. It looks real cool next to my Macbook white.

the goose pipe is kinda flimsy since iphone4 is heavier
i tried on my saga blm - since the power outlet is smacked at the center, it is hard to position it when the gear is at parking position (automatic transmission)

I am using AllKit.
It's as car kit to hold the phone, as fm transmitter so my player can play the songs in the phone, and it will charge at the same time.
Nice 3 functions in one.

This is the best speakers RM500 can get you. It is PORTABLE and the bass and punch is superb even when running off the battery!

Very very very happy with this and highly recommended...

Hi guys,

I recently bought this DA-150iSonic Gear DA-150i.

user posted image

At the shop it was said to be compatible for ipod and iphone.

When I got home, I tried using my 3GS running 4.1 and iphone 4 running 4.2.1 - both displayed "This accessory is not made to work with iPhone"

When i played music there, there is absolutely no sound at all.

Is this the iOS issue?

Appreciate if someone can help me on this.

Thanks.

The cheap car mount especially that stick on the windscreen always cant stand the heat, it will fall off easily when the material expands (physic 101) and the materials (rubber/plastic) will be brittle after sometime.

Im yet to find any good car mount too (be it cheap or expensive), maybe what we need is an intergrated HU docking system with the dashboard.

Any recommendations for car charger + iPod support for iPhone? I tried searching in Machines Sunway but I was told that I need the AUX input on my car, which my car doesn't support. Anyone knows if I can find one which can work like how the car emulator does? Thank you.

There's a option called "function" in that unit.u have to actually switch to "iPod" mode to allow the iPhone to play music.I'm pretty sure your on "tuner" mode.

Hi guys, just wondering if anyone has the 'sgp ultra thin' in smooth white. as shown in the link below

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/SGP-iPhone-4-Case-U...e-/150517804990

Anyone have a clue whether it would be the same kind of white as the white iphone 4? Cause it would look kind of weird if it isn't the same shade as the white iphone 4. Please and thank you ppl =]

Hey friends,

Do anyone using iphone third party charger? What's your recommendation? Some said Power adaptor of those RM10 will not giving you a fast charge?! Some said those RM10 USB charger cable easily "out of service"? Some said, those third party charger as above will "boom" your iphone?!

Need your view and recommendation, many thanks!

p/s: Btw, some "Eclipe" (hopefully I got the spelling right tongue.gif) power adaptor is good for charging purpose.

I personally don't use 3rd party charger or USB. In the same time, I don't recommend others to use as well.
It will eventually spoil your power IC ( a component of motherboard). After much consideration, I believe you can do the right choice, as there is a case happened to one of our buddy here. Read this.Don't forget, cost for repairing power IC is 10 times more than cost of original USB cable.

Lastly, some quotes for you.

use back charger dat is officially designed for iphone.. third party charger will damage yr iphone batt. (mayb not now but u'll realize in 1-2months more.. cz i try b4 last time on my iphone 3g.. =)
currently using 3gs no more 3rd party stuff for my precious baby cz losing an iphone its like losing something very important in yr life.. -billhambridge

third party = any brand that makes accessories for another brand.

so any accessory created for apple products by another company (including belkin), that makes it a 3rd party accessory. only apple-branded accessory is not 3rd party

my point was not all 3rd party are bad. there are good 3rd party brands and also crap 3rd party ones
