I think the cheap cables are ok to use, but just need to be careful when plugging in and out to avoid damaging the iphone jack. but i suggest to charge only with PC/notebook USB (not direct house outlet) if using the cheap cable. Saw some of your ppl's comment herea bout the cable issue
