Europe ended green while the US plunged into the red zone.
Oil broke above $50 - good news for O&G sectors. Tomorrow looks like it going to be mixed results for KLSE. |

This is very old news. LCL will keep on delaying the rights issue as it share price drop so much since they announce rights issue.

Btw, my speculation that TMI recent rise may due to some party (including underwriters) intention to push up the price so that right issue can be proceeded, if share price dropping too low, right issue is difficult to place out. They will try to maintain its share price as long as they could. |

Somehow your speculation is not far off. They will try to maintain its share price as long as they could. Good news for those who bought TMI at low prices. But will be bad for those caught at high prices. But the problem is.. when will this rally ends? |

Fully agree. I would say all shares that announce rights issue now (bear market) face heavy sell down. People already got burnt, yet still need to fork up more capital.
Exceptional case will be if a company use rights issue for expansion and yearly profit still maintain or higher. I was wondering what's the reason for the price rise.. Sustainable or not? But, if you look at the Oil index, it's been consolidating for a while dee.. and it's been bullish as US is going to purchase at least 1 Trillion US Dollars treasury bonds and mortgage related securities to save their economy. Share Buy Back in between 1.92 - 1.99 just happen last week 10th to 12th March 09 and that clears off a little activities to calm the fluctuation graph and besides is almost the end of this quater soon. All in the planning of the next move starting the new quater..

QUOTE(aurora97 @ Mar 20 2009, 02:59 PM) most likely a dividend announcement.. personally i think Resorts (though the current economic climate) will not want to hoard its more than huge enough war chest with cash.. at the end of the day the only beneficiary of the monies will be the gov.some companies have a pattern (although i didnt check resorts specifically) but if u look at consistent paying dividend cters u will see they always pay more or less around that time. more likely than not with the continued share buy back schemes and consolidation of grip by resorts over its own shares.. there is possibility a dividend will be announced and the monies will be recycled back into the companies coffers. OR...the constant grap for shares could hint possible privatisation move by the company &rakan2 suhabat resorts. |

Just it need to go through the paper work for the dividend payment date only which will be announced later on.more likely than not with the continued share buy back schemes and consolidation of grip by resorts over its own shares.. there is possibility a dividend will be announced and the monies will be recycled back into the companies coffers. QUOTE(aurora97 @ Mar 20 2009, 02:59 PM) most likely a dividend announcement.. Cherroy actually i had no clue, i just heard rumours they were going to announce something, but i just look at future potential.some companies have a pattern (although i didnt check resorts specifically) but if u look at consistent paying dividend cters u will see they always pay more or less around that time. QUOTE(cherroy @ Mar 20 2009, 03:15 PM) Fyi, dividend has been proposed (4 cents) when its last reporting its 4th Q result. Just it need to go through the paper work for the dividend payment date only which will be announced later on. its good to know thanks for the info.Unless company make a U-turn to reject its own dividend proposal. i agree with u, the 4 quarter reports have to go through AGM (normally in April unless they r damn efficient they can make it in the March window) be4 anything said earlier becomes official. unlikely for corporate giants to make u turns once they announced something (*fingers crossed*), no only is it embarrassing but perceived as bad for business. |

Can believe Resorts down today while most other "popular" counters are green.
Within 10 mins, Resorts suddenly down to 1.900 already. |

Having said that, the toxic plan is baked into and already anticipated by the market already, don't surprise market behave "buy on rumour, sell on news" best part is Malaysian arent even making a sniff abt it. same principal applies.. public money buying up debt and bad management (toxic assets) by leading individuals whom have greased their way so far up the chain of command.. they could slide in and out without any hindrance. Once u bought dont regret,
if share price come down, dont worry let it fall all the way.. (unless smthing fishy is going on) fundamentals at the end of the day will prevail. here is a case study for everyone, from my experience.. I bought BJtoto at 4.52 (high right?), collected some dividend as well it fell to 4.42.. sold at 4.58.. now 4.76.. Ignoring dividend collected, Impatience cost me 18 cents. Added on March 23, 2009, 11:27 amRight Judgment Call? TSH bought at 1.39 went to a low at 1.32 sold at 1.45 shot up to 1.52 price collapsed to 1.36 Loss of 7 cents difference. Added on March 23, 2009, 11:31 amJtinter.. bought i think at 4.52(somewhere around the same price like BJtoto, also colelcted dividend) sold at also i think around 4.58 *Knowing capital repayment was coming soon, yet sold it* high of 4.8 now 4.2 I believe i lost on potential gain an estimated of RM 1.. Impatience. This post has been edited by aurora97: Mar 23 2009, 11:31 AM |

Recoveries of the economic crisis wont be so soon. the economic crisis started just not long ago and people already talking about recovery.
must be the fastest recovery in history/decade if it is. just only a few months started only. be practical average of recovery at least 3 years |

Tomorrow UMNO assembly start, all PLC (political linked counters) are being chased upon.
Good excuse for some gorenging, whether you will be gorenging or be gorenged, much depended on market force/sentiment and your timing of it. |

What are you guys planning to do? Still gorenging? Glad I could goreng ZELAN the 2nd time..... hope can buy in low again next time! This post has been edited by kmarc: Mar 23 2009, 09:00 PM |

7900 for DJ is a strong resistance level. 800 for S&P.
Locally KLCI 880-900 is a strong resistance level. Without breakthrough with convincing volume, too early to say it is a real rally. We are still in bear market rally, which happened to be bear market rally is much violent and swing more than ordinary real bull run rally. But I do see some parties are trying very hard on TMI because of right issue. Next month for 1Q result should be pretty ugly across, but market is anticipating it. So many plan has come out, why this toxic plan is so special compared to previous TARP or stimulus package? or after that the exciting feel still will just disappeared again just like previous plans? Only time will tell. I feel uneasy about the oil price approaching USD60. If inflation is revived before economy recover, it can kill the confidence again. |

QUOTE(cherroy @ Mar 23 2009, 09:12 PM) 7900 for DJ is a strong resistance level. 800 for S&P. In your opinion, do you think the real bull will have any chance of showing itself this time? I do hope not as I want it to drop for again, hopefully for the last time.......Locally KLCI 880-900 is a strong resistance level. Some sources say that it is not the toxic plan alone, but all the plans/stimulus put together, that will stop the market from falling further and start the recovery process...... just hope that what the U.S. is doing is the right thing. If they got it wrong, we'll probably see the worst depression of all times..... Anyway, that's my noob opinion.... |

Bull will surely re-emerge one day, which I am 99% sure of it. (particularly based on experience)
We won't forever in recession, economy will bounce back once confidence is rebuilding. Just like what had happened on Asian countries back 1997. But confidence is not built overnight, it is a slow process. We might get huge bounce based on some good news in intermediate from time to time, after sliding too much, but this excitement could be awhile then market moves sideway for awhile, before real bull finally emerging. In the process, it could take year or years. Do you believe economy and stock market will go up straight away because of xyz, abc plan like nothing has happened after we had some crisis the may be happening once or maximum twice in our life-time? I have a hard time to believe it. Although downside room somehow is rather limited now, because too much money being injected into the market, while with the like even long term US treasuries yield is going down because of Fed's move, money is simply nowhere to go. That's the primary support of currency stock market, unless the company goes under which is different story. Don't get me wrong, I feel bullish about stock market because stocks are worth to get right now especially with FD rate so low. But I won't believe this rally can go very far. I still prefer my plan of nibbling a few in between from month to months. Just my view and opinion. |

Based on chart, there are no indications whatsoever of a recovery at this moment. Thus a further downward chances is higher.

LCL return to 46.5 sen again!!!! from 33 sen to 46.5 sen with the gain of 41%. dont be suprise if it climb back to 70 sen once it announce dividend or secure more contracts. Low said earning for 2009 should be sastify, should minor holder like us believe him?

QUOTE(cherroy @ Mar 23 2009, 09:52 PM) Bull will surely re-emerge one day, which I am 99% sure of it. (particularly based on experience) I'm of the opinion that the market will start to recover in 2010. That's why I think the next few months would be the most crucial time to buy stocks for long-term investment. However, I believe the "nibbling" a bit here and there is also a good strategy - one that I've been doing too. Just that when a counter goes up after a nibble, I wished I had taken a big bite!!! We won't forever in recession, economy will bounce back once confidence is rebuilding. Just like what had happened on Asian countries back 1997. But confidence is not built overnight, it is a slow process. Will start to unload some of my goreng stocks these few days..... going to see what's the response to Geithner's toxic asset plan first.... Anyway, I have learned to be more patient but missed out on a few boats already!!! Mobius: 'Bull market ' rally has begun
SHANGHAI: The next “bull-market” rally has begun and there are bargains in every emerging market following a record slump in stocks, Templeton Asset Management Ltd.’s Mark Mobius said on March 23. The MSCI Emerging Markets Index has jumped 23% since reaching a four-year low on Oct 27, outperforming the 2.5% drop in the MSCI World Index and 9.5% decline in the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index. Emerging markets made up the 10 best-performing benchmark gauges this year, led by the 26% gain for China’s Shanghai Composite Index. “You have to be careful not to miss the opportunity,” said Mobius, who helps oversee about US$20 billion of emerging- market assets as executive chairman at San Mateo, California- based Templeton. “With all the negative news, there is a tendency to hold back.” Emerging markets are in “better shape” than developed economies, Mobius said. The fund is looking for companies that are “cash-rich,” have low debt and higher dividend yields, or those that can invest for future growth yet have cash left to pay shareholders, he said. A company’s participation in derivatives is warning against some stock selections, Mobius, 72, said in a Bloomberg Television interview from Hong Kong. “No longer are we satisfied with the explanation that ‘oh, it’s just plain vanilla,’” given the huge losses incurred at financial companies, he said. Citigroup Inc.’s analysts Markus Rosgen and Elaine Chu are among strategists who describe recent Asian stock gains as a temporary “bear-market rally.” “You are going to see a lot of bouncing off the bottom because there’s a tremendous amount of uncertainty in the market,” Mobius said, “But I have a feeling we’re at the bottom and now we’re building a base for the next bull market.” Mobius correctly predicted in December that emerging markets will rebound before developed nations. In 1999, he was voted among the “Top Ten Money Managers of the 20th Century” in a survey by the Carson Group, and in 2006 he was included in the “Top 100 Most Powerful and Influential People” by Asiamoney magazine. Investors who poured $502 million into Asian equity funds over the past two weeks may lose out once the “bear-market rally” falters, Citigroup said today in a note, citing a 30 percent drop after an initial rebound in the 1997 slump. Citigroup’s Rosgen and Chu wrote in a note today they remained “skeptical” the rally is sustainable because valuations have yet to plumb the lows seen in past recessions. Fidelity Investments, the world’s biggest mutual fund company, is among the skeptics on predictions about the timing of the market cycle. “No one can call the bottom in the stock market. No one managed to do it. We can’t do it. We don’t have a crystal ball,” Tal Eloya, a portfolio manager at Fidelity Investments, said in a briefing in Seoul today. “We have to think long term and invest over a long-term horizon.” Mobius’s view that stocks will rally is shared by investor Antoine van Agtmael, who is credited with coining the term “emerging markets.” “Relative to potential sustainable growth and quality, emerging markets today are cheaper than I have seen them at any time since I started to invest” 30 years ago, van Agtmael, who oversees about $8.6 billion as chairman and chief investment officer at Emerging Markets Management LLC, said in a phone interview March 19. “Things have gone too far down.” Asian stock market valuations outside of Japan fell to 0.9 times book value during the 1975 and 1982 recessions, according to Citigroup. The MSCI Asia excluding Japan Index is now valued at 1.3 times book value. Brazilian oil company Petroleo Brasileiro SA, Cia. Vale do Rio Doce, the world’s biggest iron-ore producer, and Chinese oil producer PetroChina Co. are among the top holdings of Mobius’s Templeton Emerging Markets Trust. Mobius continues to favor China Mobile Ltd., the world’s biggest wireless carrier, as it is the “dominant player in the biggest telecommunications market in the world.” He also likes Denway Motors Ltd., a Chinese partner of Honda Motor Co., saying that it will survive a move by China to combine the nation’s 14 largest automakers into 10. “They have a very good position and image,” Mobius said. “A very well-run company and the fact that you have a foreign shareholder and a Chinese shareholder in the same company is beneficial to minorities because minorities will be protected.” - Bloomberg |

more on TMI
0231 GMT [Dow Jones] STOCK CALL: Macquarie reiterates Outperform rating on TM International with 12-month target price of MYR4.22 following price fixing of its rights issue at MYR1.12/share, based on ratio of 5-for-4 shares. Says 125% increase in share base, 49% core EPS dilution larger than expected but finalization of price removes uncertainty surrounding rights issue. Tips TMI's net gearing will fall to 70% from 140% post rights, thinks gross debt to EBITDA ratio will fall to 3.0X from 3.8X (assuming 80% of proceeds used to pare debts. "With this rights issue now over the first hurdle and the EGM later today likely to see the rights issue approved by shareholders, the market can once again focus on TMI's operations, especially Celcom, which makes up two-thirds of our unleveraged valuation of TMI." Shares last traded at MYR2.61 prior to one-day suspension. KUALA LUMPUR (Dow Jones)--TM International Bhd. (6888.KU) said Tuesday it has set the price for its proposed 5-for-4 rights issue at MYR1.12 per rights share. In a filing to the stock exchange, the mobile operator said the price represents a discount of 50.9% from the five-day volume-weighted average market price to March 23 of MYR2.28 and a discount of 31.7% to the theoretical ex-rights price of its shares of MYR1.64. TMI said the planned rights issue will raise gross proceeds of MYR5.25 billion and involve the issuance of some 4.69 billion rights shares. The company plans to use the proceeds to pare down some MYR5.15 billion of debt, about MYR4 billion of which is owed to its former parent Telekom Malaysia Bhd. (4863.KU). NOTE:- save some bullet for this stock..can hold for long...very2 cheap ah...when to buy i dunno also... This post has been edited by tessei: Mar 24 2009, 10:52 AM |

FYI
CITI Investment Research expects the Kuala Lumpur stock market to perform better in the run-up to the mini-budget announcement on March 10. "Our data for the past 11 annual budgets show the stock market tends to perform better in the run-up to budget announcements, going higher 10 out of the 11 times," it wrote in a note dated February 24. "Post the same budgets, the market fell 10 out of the last 11 times. Even on ad-hoc supplementary budgets, the market tends to perform poorer post the budget," it added. note:- For whom didn't sell/take profit yet This post has been edited by tessei: Mar 24 2009, 11:20 AM |

We can explore US market instead of local market. US market is very exciting n you can earn a lot in very short term, of course the opposite is also true.
Like I got the FNM at almost the lowest price, but now I'm paper earning almost 200% in few days. |

The good news is, today's 1st half volume already exceed yesterday's volume.
So, can say most of the profit takers have already exited..... Pretty good overall, as most of the counters still didn't drop too much from yesterday's closing? Set a good stage for the 2nd half. Added on March 24, 2009, 12:13 pmMost of the counters in my list drop 2/3 bids off yesterday's closing. Some are white now. This post has been edited by eltaria: Mar 24 2009, 12:13 PM |

Not wanting to be a wet blanket... its either profit takers or stale bull that exited... either way you look at it, I share some analysts views that the upward momentum cannot be sustained in the absence of strong fundamentals. However, a volatile market offers opportunities to make or break..

frankly speaking, bursa actually not against regional trend lar. It is because bursa drop lesser mar, so when everyone up, you'll not enjoy so much and vice versa.

Until political scene finally settling down, (UMNO issue, PM transformation and cabinet reshuffling) FF won't be come in in a significant way nor fund managers dare to pour in big even if interested.
That's why we see mostly penny stocks are moving big due to retail interest and goreng syndicate around. If you are a real pure fund manager (not those EPF, PNB one), you will sideline until political issue settling down, before moving in big. If other regional bourses have no political risk while Malaysia has, then which one will you (if you are a FF manager) go then? |

don't forget that Resorts have been buying back a lot of their shares since its peak 2 years back. If I'm not wrong, the shares in their treasuries are @ average price around 3.80, higher price than most of us. (probably now the average price is slightly lower as they started buying back again this recent slump)

If I'm not wrong, the shares in their treasuries are @ average price around 3.80, higher price than most of us. (probably now the average price is slightly lower as they started buying back again this recent slump) |

Cash only no debt company, wat you expect? Drop to RM1.5?? That would mean KLCI drop to 700+ liao
Added on March 24, 2009, 3:15 pm QUOTE(sharesa @ Mar 24 2009, 03:07 PM) Only quoting that they are holding plenty of their own shares bought average price around 3.80. Normally they keep itWondering what they will do with that. Cancel the shares? Distribute the shares or sell back to market? This post has been edited by Junior83: Mar 24 2009, 03:15 PM |

the price will correct once the rights has been exercised.
so unless you are already holding stock, it is best to enter after that. price would be abt the average between market and rights price. |

Read this in the comments section of Yahoo Finance. "Subject: Economic Solution This was an article from the St. Petersburg Times Newspaper on Sunday. The Business Section asked readers for ideas on "How Would You Fix the Economy?" I thought this was the BEST idea....I think this guy nailed it! Subject: Economic Solution Dear Mr.President, Patriotic retirement: There's about 40 million people over 50 in the work force-pay them $1 million a piece severance with stipulations. 1) They leave their jobs. Forty million job openings - Unemployment fixed. 2) They buy NEW American cars. Forty million cars ordered - Auto Industry fixed. 3) They either buy a house/pay off their mortgage - Housing Crisis fixed. " |

Ya.. foreign and minority shareholders dun like its Rights issue throwing their shares..
Remiser recommended to buy at around its last low price 2.25+/- or stay sideline till selling pressure cool down bfr buy in I bought last week at 2.29 and sold at 2.59.. Today i buy again at 2.25.. hope can break 2.5 today.. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DJ MARKET TALK: TMI Down 10.3%; Rights Issue To Raise MYR5.25B -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 0137 GMT [Dow Jones] TM International (6888.KU) down 10.3% at MYR2.34 with 8.2 million shares changing hands on trade resumption; steep fall in share price follows company decision to sell new shares at MYR1.12 a piece, 57% discount to Monday's closing price, via 5-for-4 rights issue to raise MYR5.25 billion as it seeks money to repay money owed to sister company TM (4863.KU). "The two issues weighing on TMI are the potential earnings dilution caused by this huge issue of new shares and the large discount at which the rights are being offered. In the short-term, TMI may continue to drift between MYR2.24 (intraday low) and MYR2.50," says one dealer. QUOTE(skiddtrader @ Mar 25 2009, 02:52 AM) Just wanted to share this. I don't think you can do this. Its exchanging 40milion experienced people for newbies. Quite similar to "if you want to lose weight, just cut off a leg!" Read this in the comments section of Yahoo Finance. " This post has been edited by whizzer: Mar 25 2009, 11:32 AM |

When I read analyst reports, I focus on the data. I don't look at their TP. We need to judge our entry point and exit point ourselves.

Personally still don't think should be too optimistic about it in view of current economic stance, probably AGM is around the corner and they r going to announce their dividend... maybe not cud be wrong?
as such the price has been flactuating, while the big fish keep suppressing the price for the pass few days, retailers stay away (indirectly also baiting some)... then suddenly they push the prices high (like today), retailers thinking some sort of rally start buying up chunks... than suddenly someone pulls the carpet from below. die. *stress* go down tak nak, go up also tak nak... macam mana bolehni! woo hoo! Resorts close above RM2.
I'm not greedy. Just inbetween RM 2 - 2.5. RM 2.30 my TP Go go go... My theory has been proved that whenever there got any buybacks by Resorts, the share price gonna rally |

All,
As per US Housing report. http://www.chrismartenson.com/blog/fuzzy-r...sing-data/15540 There’s another, even bigger, element to this story that’s just sitting there practically gnawing on the press’ lower legs, just 14 paragraphs down: Home foreclosures were up 30 percent in February from a year earlier, according to RealtyTrac Inc., an Irvine, California-based seller of default data. A total of 290,631 properties got a default or auction notice or were seized by banks. Lessee here...290k seized properties (many of which count as "sales" in the NAR methodology) times 12 months gives us 3.48 million homes in default, slated for auction, or seized. When we divide these 3.48 million (annualized) defaulted or seized properties by the 4.72 million in total reported sales (also annualized), we immediately discover that a full 73% of recent housing activity was distressed. By mixing foreclosure data with organic house sales, the NAR and the press have badly misrepresented the actual condition of the housing market. Dreamer |
