There is no math in med school....

Calculus and differentiAtion are in the syllabus of each pharmacy school but the intensity may be different.

Well, Some university require students to achieve minimum CGPA of 2.75 in their undergraduate study if students wanted to do postgraduate study. What about those achieve CGPA lesser than 2.75?

If you are doing A levels then it should be fine. Better double check though.

To register as a pharmacist in malaysia,is it necessary to secure minimun scores in certain SPM and preu subjects ?

Was told that one needs to have 5 B grades in SPM [science and maths] and 3B in A level/STPM. Hence if one secured a place in a recognised uni[local or oversea] by the Pharmacy Board but do not meet the minimun requirement ,once graduated there is no chance to register. Is this correct ?

That's also what I'm curious to know about, since I didn't take bio in SPM... hmm.gif And there's one thread about having 5Bs in SPM to register... and they say it's a pre-requisite for unis some more.. hmm.gif But I can't find any pre-requisite about needing a B for physics and add maths in SPM to apply for pharmacy in IPTA.. Furthermore, I think the B SPM science and maths is only a pre-requisite for foundation programme and matriculation.. hmm.gif
http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/714279/+80

So I might have to "resit" SPM next year again. rclxub.gif

Unless someone here has studied pharmacy without SPM bio, they might be able to answer my question too..
(I have PMed one of the forummer who didn't take bio in SPM but want to do medicine to ask him about that, but he seemed inactive.) doh.gif

Hospital Orang Asli Gombak Visit

On the 16th of May, I headed for a trip to Hospital Orang Asli Gombak along with my other course mates. This hospital is special in the sense that it is the only hospital in the WORLD, to specially cater for the orang asli, or the aborigines of Malaysia. If you are not one of them, you would be directed to other hospitals as this place is solely established for the aborigines' best of interest.

It was only recently that the Ministry of Health took over this hospital. Previously it was under another ministry. The advantage of being under the MOH is that medicines ordered can arrive much faster and on time now and fundings for renovations and expansions are technically easier to get approved.

Naturally, being located in an out skirt area, this hospital seems less busy and much more peaceful, compared to a tertiary hospital like Hospital Kuala Lumpur.

After a slight briefing by the head of pharmacy in charge, we were brought to visit around. Naturally, the outpatient pharmacy is our first stop of the day.

Over here we learnt how medications were stored, arranged and managed etc.

Being a hospital specially catered for the orang asli, they also provide mobile clinic services to deep interiors in various parts of Malaysia to dispense medications to those people in need.

Lastly, we were brought to visit the wards. Patients all over Malaysia could be found here, from Gua Musang, to Bidor and to places I have never heard before. This hospital is unique that it also caters accommodation and food for the family of the patient as well. So if the patient is admitted, usually they bring their whole family down with them as well.

It's really great to see a third world country like Malaysia offering these type of health services in which no other countries offer. I really hope to see the improvements being carried out in the health sector, hopefully by the time I graduate. This will definitely benefit the general public and the needy alike and tax payers will know that their money are well spent. This trip has definitely opened my eyes to the other side of health service and I certainly benefited a lot. Hopefully there will be more of these trips to come tongue.gif

I think it goes this way :

AIMST >>> MAHSA & Masterskill

It's harder to gain admission to AIMST and is naturally the more sought after university by students.

I don't know the difference in recommendation between MAHSA & Masterskill to be honest.

It's hard to get in AIMST if you were an outsider student, that is if you did not enroll their foundation course. Otherwise it's pretty easy to gain admission of your grades meet the mark.
