The new CGPA entry of 3.5 is expected to come in next year. However a word of warning. If you enter a pharmacy school with a 3.5, when it comes to eventual registration as a pharmacist, the pharmacy board will check your SPM results, and you will need a minimum of B grades in science subjects.

For successful transition into a pharmacy program, chemistry is a must, together with one other science subject, either biology or physics. Mathematics is also an important subject. However, not having biology at SPM is not a major issue.

With regard to registration, you will need to get the exact details once they are published by the pharmacy board.

OK, updated information from pharmacy board regarding those who enter a pharmacy school with a diploma qualification:

For those with a Diploma in Science (Chemistry or Biology or Physics) a CGPA of 3.75 or higher is required

For those with a Diploma in Pharmacy a CGPA 3.50 or higher is required.

In addition, the following will be looked at by the pharmacy board. Without which registration may be affected.

Students entering schools with diploma must also have passes in SPM with a minimum of 5 grade B's in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics (or Additional Mathematics) and one other subject in school certificate or equivalent.

How are you? I am newbie here..

I want to ask something from here. Hope I'll find something.

I just got my diploma in pharmacy. Planning to pursue in BPharm. I want to do it locally, but my cgpa is not enough to continue BPharm in Malaysia.  Actually, I already got the offer from University of South Australia. It's unconditional offer.

I went to MARA asking whether they got any sponsorship which I can apply, but unfortunately they said that MARA didnt sponsor to do Pharmacy in oversea anymore. It is very sad when u already have the offer, but cant do anything about it.

I am not rich people. I want to know if there are any NGO or anything to sponsor or giving loan for education. I heard that JPA do giving scholarship. But only after 2nd/3rd year. I am planning to go for Indonesia, since it will be much cheaper than Australia.

Public universities & IPTS need cgpa 3.8 & above. I only got 3.68 for my diploma. That is the problem why I dont apply locally. Even my senior got 3.75 not accepted to study in UiTM.

To register as a pharmacist in malaysia,is it necessary to secure minimun scores in certain SPM and preu subjects ?

Was told that one needs to have 5 B grades in SPM [science and maths] and 3B in A level/STPM. Hence if one secured a place in a recognised uni[local or oversea] by the Pharmacy Board but do not meet the minimun requirement ,once graduated there is no chance to register.Is this correct ?
