@chin1990

judging from the way you speak, i guess financial is not a problem for your family to fork out almost 450k?

well, even you are learning the same thing, SAM and A level is not entirely the same. SAM consists of coursework as well and with your past result, you might not have as much edge as you think you do.

you could twin to australia if you managed to enrolled under IMU, IMU is the only place that twin to australia.

if you are planning to gain direct entry for an australian degree, stay away from western australia. and recently, they removed pharmacist from the skill occupation list, so basically you just lost 60 points and you need 200 i think to get a PR. imagine in another 5 years at least another 500 qualified pharmacist would be out there if there is one uni offering pharmacy in that state.

things are not as easy as you thought it is.

How about straight away go to Australia n study Pharm??
*
ermmm... i don't see any problems with Inti's A-levels also...@@..

that's the case nowadays..many people wan rush to do their pre-u and finish their course earlier and dun wan take some time to do research and think properly..

if u got the money to go there why not...

but u need good results to enter good uni lor..

if u not so picky then i think australia got few uni(lower rankings one) offering pharm..

but if u wan stay there and work then there would be a problem la...

as what jerk said..

i always wonder what is the life of a pharmacist.... RM3.5k as fresh grad gave me an impression that its like drop-dead busy and killing and stressful job

but seeing most people has said, it's err.... like a rewarding job i guess.... i've read that pharmacist can be in hosp/retail/industrial

what is the life of a pharmacist in a hosp/retail/industrial? is it keep doing research, read patient's statistic and see which med is the best, preparing med syrup in a very meticulous method, writing report or so on? does the pharmacist do some talking or sosial like those who are doing business? TBH, i'm kinda a social-type, bubly, talkative and active girl, can be serious but when not necessary, i'm funnily-crazy all the time..... so i'm not very sure if this job suits my life.... hehe

kinda off from here, so i'm very sorry
since i'm a girl with the listed personality above, should i pursue business-type career (most probably major in management, marketing, admin & HR)
but my bro said the pay is very slow and unrewarding.....

Pharmacists don't just do paper work or lab work. A big portion of their job in hospital & retail involves counseling patients. They have to make sure the patients are getting the right medicines for their illness, make sure they're taking them the right way (ie: inhalers, if administered wrongly is as good as not taking), make sure the drugs they're taking don't interact with each other and give side effects. If you have patients with a whole list of meds and different dosages, you'd have to think of a way to help patients remember how/when to take them. And if the patient comes back saying that their medicines don't work, the pharmacists will have to troubleshoot and find out if they're taking the medicines correctly.

yea..basically memorising...and thinking as well la of course..

chemistry u study everything lor....organic..inorganic..etc..

for pharm we only touch organic chemistry...and other more subjects where chemistry don't touch like pharmacology(drug interaction) and pharmacokinetics..

physiology should be the correct term here.

biology covers every living things la...humans..plants..ecosystem...etc...

smile.gif

a social-type, bubly, talkative and active girl, can be serious but when not necessary..still can be a pharmacist lor...

if you are asking about SEGi- sunderland programme, definitely not the best you can get in malaysia. might fit in the value for money category. if you are planning to seek for employment outside malaysia in future, Strathclyde and nottingham could be a better choice.

unless that is the only offer you can get from uk or that is the only institution your parents could afford. why settle for something other than the best you can afford?

many would say education is not about getting the best in the world, the one with the best reputation but it is about the knowledge shaping your character or what so ever along those lines but why restrict yourself of the privilege of getting every help and resources out there.

because my first love was actually biology, but knowing that being doc is hard..... i have to uhm, forgo it.. blush.gif
its ok to judge me haha.... but why business don't suit me? i thought business you interact everyday and make a lot of friend and know new people everyday, isn't it? esp if i'm under human resource... aiks, i'm kinda influenced by the ideology of "do what makes you happy, and you'll be stress-free"

i am sorry to say that you must be very very poor and very very good in your studies to qualify for the scholarship.

if u can ask this question online means you can afford some money for internet instead of using the money for food shows that you r not that poor. laugh.gif

okla that was too extreme. call IMU and check la.

haha.

are u sure u like biology?

as what i've said, biology has a wide range. from humans to plants to insects to reptiles to flowers to ecosystems to environment. u sure u like all of those?because doctor only study about humans.

because u don't even know what business is in the first place! from your replies i can see that you intepret the business world from what u see on the tv. sorry for being blunt. blush.gif and you don't even know which one you want to specialise in. business is a veryyyyyyy broad area. from administration to marketing to sales to PR to management. all require different skills, although they are closely related. you may suitable for marketing but not management?

yea..you interact everyday..but mostly through phone calls..and if only you are doing marketing then you meet new people, but not everyday also ma!unless u work in a uni, then yeah u meet new students every day. friends in business world? u can be counted lucky if they don stab u in the back. especially in the corporate sector. if work in small small companies then everybody friend friend lor. but i dun see u working there because u sound quite ambitious.

comparing pharmacy to business, i'd say a pharmacist faces less stress la.at least u dun need deal with politics.

Of course not. If that's true, it wont be fair to other students who are not from STPM and A levels, right?
You can refer to IMU's website. http://www.imu.edu.my/download/CriteriaGuidelines.pdf
