Nope. New iphone should cost around the same and the old one will be a collector's item.

The shape will be slightly different from the current one so that more people can make money from the casing and protectors and accessories.

tink da 'more $$$$ gone' more of an investment u make....
spending an amount on keeping ur baby safe wud bring u a loooong way....
im nt sure abt others, but life after i3g has changed for me...
last time it was all different...buy a phone, u maybe get a $15-25 housing plus cover...but u dun get attached 2 it, emotionally...
iphone's case is different...
u dun hv da feel of changing hp like last time...u stay loyal n take care of it....more of one of ur own kin....

*sorry ya...got too emo*

Ahaha, we all get emotional and develop some kind of kinship with our iPhones, especially when it has ingrained itself into much of our day-to-day lives. I for one cannot live without it, and the apps I use on it. Going back to other phones is like going back to 56k dialup when you've tasted broadband.

Anyone here remember whats the price of iPhone 2G (Original) when if first came out , and the price of iPhone 3G when it first came out? I wanted to make some price comparison.

Now I'm deciding to get one iphone 3G with a price of only RM2.4k.
What I'm concern now is that if the new iPhone come out again, it will be sold for a very higher price. The iphone 3G will also be stop producing.

I'm afraid if i do not buy the iphone now, i'll regret..>_< . So what i'm hoping now is that the price of new iPhone that may be sold next few months will be exactly or less than RM2.4. Or can anyone experience here give some guide?

The iPhones has stayed their price till now. For example, the NZ 16GB iPhone 3G, was NZD1129, and still is NZD1129 now. What bloated the price was unscrupulous sellers, particularly a certain trollish Mac-related seller around these parts of the forum( the guys who kept up with my history with the RM2-million seller here knows who I mean) , to artifically bump up the price to unreasonable levels, just because "you cannot get it here, other than through limited channels". My Tumpang thread was a direct response to these cut-throat arseholes who were pissed off when I provided an option to get the iPhone 3G at retail price, and not at RM4,500-RM5,000. YES, they are that crazily priced, thanks to these greedy bastards.

Check my post history on how that Tumpang thread ends. If conditions are right, I will be doing the same Tumpang thread again, only this time, a little more well-worded, so that the authorities here wont classify it as another "sale" or "trading-related" thread. rolleyes.gif

adui, here comes another those "type" individuals again. honestly, at this rate of being regretful over your purchases, you may as well don't purchase anything related to technology.

always always always scout for items according to your needs! we cannot reiterate this more; if you feel that the currently existing iPhone is sufficient for your usage now, then just purchase it. don't go all optimistic that maxis will definitely bring the new one for the local consumption et cetera.

alright putting my rants aside, i will attempt to answer your first few questions then.

1. it is always difficult to determine the actual price of the first generation iPhone as it was never meant to be sold out of contract (aka pre-paid versions). hence there is always a massive fluctuation in price tags; between those who purchased directly from the states and from local vendors.

2. errm... the statement underlined is pretty much self-explanatory, isn't it?

on the other hand, you might wanna keep it low profile as well, as we don't want to hassle davidgary73 and leave him in dilemma as well!

I'm with you on this one. Was present during that time of the Tumpang thread. Read all the posts as well. If there is a possible one again, I just might depend on you to get it. Heck, even if you impose a small commission, it is acceptable to me, but no to those selling at rip off prices and reporting on you.

I'll put as minimal info as I can, and carefully word it as such it wont be treated as a sale. Hard to tread with words when you have a "practicing lawyer" as an admin. whistling.gif

Mum's the word on the commision, we dont want "them" to hear and look at is as a "Sale". Later kena reported by the "2 million ringgit troll" and deleted by the mods. My priority are for those 15 who was with the first Tumpang. I believe in rewarding those who believed and trust in me. They have stuck with me through thick and thin, hardship and good time as well. notworthy.gif

It is not about money here, bro. It is all about creating a good rapport and connection with people. Those are more valuable than money. Monetary gains are short term, and does not guarantee lasting relations with your buyers. But if you treat them with sincereity and honesty, they will respond back in kind as well. Thanks to the previous successful Tumpang, I now know (and can depend on)

- a postgrad student in Australia whom I can depend on Australian side of the iPhone news/scene and getting unlocked units. Also I can depend on for being his no-bullshit self laugh.gif tongue.gif
- TWO individuals in New Zealand whom I can depend on getting updated news and one of them is a store representative on a chosen NZ iPhone telco, a journalist with Bernama with the juiciest latest breaking infos and news, another journalist with connections to the clubbing scene brows.gif,
- an AWESOME iPhone Hardware SIFU who can do miracles on repairing iPhones,
- an equally AWESOME Jailbreaker, modding and all-things iPhone software expert who had never failed to help those in need in the forum, and join in every iPhone gatherings so far
- a great banker whom I can go to for money-matters, and the rest whom I can rely on helping me on gathering infos on iPhones and their unlocked status.
- Last but not least, a hardworking forumer who has tirelessly posted info and news on the iPhone, official and the jailbreaking side, who have my FULL support as a moderator, who I have the utmost respect as the most hardworking moderator I have seen here in any part of this forum, to make the iPhone forum section the most updated, info-packed and user-friendly forum section I can think of.

Cheers to all of you, you know who you are, you've made this forum what it is right now, and all this stems from our passion, devotion and all brought together by the iPhone. I am blessed to have them as my friends. That goes to you too, forummer named Friends! biggrin.gif

Famous or infamous, depending on who I guess. I'm not inclined to pad my words just to be your friend. A true friend says whats on his mind, good or bad, for the good of his other friends, so that the other person can improve on himself. A "word-padding" friend only serves to pretend to be your friend when they really dont care that much about you. icon_rolleyes.gif

Mine's naked too, albeit the top part, thanks to the Mophie Juice Pack. I dont baby it as much now, compared to the earlier days, but the habit of wiping the screen whenever not in use is bordering on OCD now. laugh.gif

Who still now thinks a new iPhone hardware will not be released in June?

- 100 million NAND flash memory chips have been ordered by Apple resulting in a worldwide shortage
- reports from chinese manufacturers that iPhone hardware have now been shipped for assembly
- Apple is expected to manufacture 10million new iphones in the summer.

sad to hear that , as i have just bought my iphone 3G from maxis during the launching date.

anyway, no regrets ... as i need to get myself a new phone ASAP because my previous phone has committed suicide by drowning itself. sad.gif

hmmm , i wonder how much will the new phone be ? hopefully not touching RM4K... or else i wun be able to purchase 1

same sentiments here when i bought the macbook as I really wanted the macbook air... Sometimes the decisions have to be made based more on needs, but I don't go around lambasting saying "MBA is f***ing overpriced junk, easily overheat, Glossy screen sucks, low quality mats, etc etc"... when in all honesty every single fact points to the MBA being superior. I just accept the fact and I'm still happy about my purchase. Behaviors like this can really show the ugly side of a person's character.

On the upcoming iphone3g however, yeah I'm on the wait-train as well... plan on giving away my 3 month old E71 to my gf.
