just read his previous thread. i cannot in my wildest imagination, believe that he is actually sufficiently legal to drive on malaysian roads.

oh yeah! this will also determine if i'm moving over from virgin (har dee har har ) to optus. i know that it makes not much difference as virgin is technically using optus infrastructures and will therefore offer iphones as well.

but i reckon if i'm with optus, then my chances of getting the latest third generation iphone is even higher (psychological la!!!)

if i can add my humble thought, this is probably a genius way by at & t to get rid of "old" stocks in line for the upcoming OS 3.0 (and also *cough cough stringfellow's theory cough cough*)

i'm not sure about the rest, but judging from neekun's previous enthusiasm on stringfellow's NZ tumpang thread, i can assure you that he is not "that" category

anyway do check out this cnet podcast video out. pretty cool i have to say as they have a working "mock-up" of the OS 3.0 and brian tong presented it out as usual.

it has a way better insight to the new firmware than the one featured during the actual OS 3.0 preview

i highly recommend that you guys download and watch this!

hmm with china getting the iPhone 3G (they obviously have the highest market penetration in the world) soon, the new generation iPhone might not be coming afterall...

personally, i do hope that a new generation will be coming up, as i really wanna subscribe to a contract.

very risky indeed. i'm pretty much a forgetful person and if i did forget to turn the firewall on, i will be doomed for sure!

i share the exact sentiment with stringfellow. to many of us here, we are already beginning to get pretty much "bored" with our iPhone 3G.

of course, to many of the naysayers, that is not the case, considering the fact that maxis has just brought in the 3G version.

always remember that, in the technology "world", a year is a very long period of time.

the copy and paste feature was delayed (as explained during the launch. i'm surprised that you didn't know considering the fact that you are a big apple fan) due to inability to overcome security concerns initially. iPhones are generally targeted towards the american market and mms was never a sought after feature. however since the iPhone 3G was launched thereafter in many countries globally, there is now a need for mms.



a so called big fan of apple products (i'm not one) will know that apple refreshes their products regularly.



errmm... isn't that like a universally known business tactic? if there are no new upgrades (may it be a small or big one), then there are no incentives for consumers to purchase new products. one doesn't have to be an apple fan, to realise that.

i'm not sure what you mean exactly by "share with my friend". but i can assure you that, provided that your friend has your apple id synchronised to his/her iPod Touch/iPhone, he/she can re-download the apps as much as he/she pleases. i have personally experimented with this and it works all the time.

hence there is no need for you to upload your purchased apps to rapidshare or burn them into a disc, UNLESS it is for the vice versa situation...

well don't be! entertain yourself to this podcast. and the rumour mill for the next generation iPhone is running at full capacity!

apparently, the name has been confirmed.

anyway update for OS 3.0 (since the second beta is out), you can now have 11 pages of applications on the springboard (instead of the usual 9).

and if you include the bottom 4 icons, you can have a total of 180 apps!!!


there is also a dedicated "store" preferences in settings now. it is currently being blanked out, so we might have to make speculations (again!)

adui, here comes another those "type" individuals again. honestly, at this rate of being regretful over your purchases, you may as well don't purchase anything related to technology.

always always always scout for items according to your needs! we cannot reiterate this more; if you feel that the currently existing iPhone is sufficient for your usage now, then just purchase it. don't go all optimistic that maxis will definitely bring the new one for the local consumption et cetera.

alright putting my rants aside, i will attempt to answer your first few questions then.

1. it is always difficult to determine the actual price of the first generation iPhone as it was never meant to be sold out of contract (aka pre-paid versions). hence there is always a massive fluctuation in price tags; between those who purchased directly from the states and from local vendors.

2. errm... the statement underlined is pretty much self-explanatory, isn't it?
