The common practice is to not restore from you backup and set the iPhone as new for new firmwares. Just sync back your contacts, notes, pictures etc

Also take into consideration that your current applications are not compatible to 3.0

i believe it's software unlocked iphone(jailbreak too) will make it become a locked unit, but nvm, we will get the software unlock called ultrasn0w for iphone OS3 with 4.26.08 only.

p/s: i was afraid if apple release new firmware ( still 3.0 but with different baseband, it surely will be hard for those who don't know and mayb ewill need GM firmware because of firmware 4.26.08..

basically if( i said if only) new baseband come out with 3.0 first release. need to restore to gm os then official 3.0 using pawnage tools only.

basically yes, so just say bye bye to ur cydia application, once you restore to 3.0, it will clean off the third party application.

Dude.. Why does one need 3.0 GM when we have the final 3.0? Don't make sense mate. Don't make everyone confuse over a firmware. A simple understanding is to update with the upcoming release of iPhone 3.0 even is with a different firmware. DevTeam will know what to do.

What time will be the iphone 3.0 releasing?

better just hold your horses first, when you update your 2G phone, you might be receiving signal but you will only be on the emergency screen.

for 2G phones, wait for new jailbreaking techniques first before proceeding.

yellowsn0w have been a long time release to customer but Ultrasn0w for OS3 will be release this friday. do a little reading bro, then you can understand more..

The previous posts stated is around 1 A.M. right? 18th of June, 1 A.M. local time...

if base on previous jailbreak version from 1.0 to 2.2.1, yes...but i can't guarantee the new jailbreak method whether can straight away update the os 3.0 without restore method...anything have to wait until friday....(so many missing word )

Yes, your phone will remain unlocked but your jailbreak contents and apps will be gone. You can choose to restore or just update it right away.

You're the one who needs to get it right.

iPhone 2G (mostly locked units): If jailbreak-ed, contents or apps will be erased and your phone is locked.

iPhone 3G (unofficially unlocked units): If jailbreak-ed, contents or apps will be erased and your phone is locked.

iPhone 3G (officially unlocked units): If jailbreak-ed, contents or apps will be erased but your phone remains unlocked.

I don't think bro Hanxz statement has anything conflicted with yours... basically what he said is what you stated once again...

I guess the short conclusion that Hanxz was trying to put is that don't update to 3.0 first if you really need all those jailbreaking...

Everybody calm down. I know we are all a bit excited, a bit tense on the seemingly long wait, but we dont have to bite each other's heads off because of the tension.



I'm not sure if this has been posted, but from the Optus email I've just received, the filesize of the OS3.0 clocks in at 301MB. Other sites reports 250MB. Hmmmm...we'll see.
