Most likely the next generation iPhone will have better hardware under the hood other than cosmetic changes on the outside, I'm excited to see if there's any changes in the GUI of iPhone OS 3.0.

Duh, new firmware and SDK development kit will be introduce by Apple to developers before releasing it to the general public or new iPhone. They discuss it now and release it together with the iPhone in June or July.
It's all about software not hardware. Always remember that Apple refresh their product line up once every year so last year's iPhone 3G was release on July 11th so this year would probably be in June or July.

QUOTE(cyhing @ Mar 13 2009, 01:48 PM) anyone know what is the changelog for OS3.0 God knows, lol. We will know on March 17th, it's the reason why Apple is having this event for anyway. To make changes and improvement to the iPhone OS. Not a problem, stringfellow. This post has been edited by Mike3300: Mar 14 2009, 02:50 AM

QUOTE(kyon22 @ Mar 16 2009, 05:41 PM) like that I better pull off my iphone purchase this month.. You can still update your firmware even you own the first generation iPhone, there's nothing to be worry about. It's not like different firmware version for different generation iPhone. Every generation of iPhone runs the same version of iPhone OS, it's just the build version is different.

QUOTE(iLemonx @ Mar 16 2009, 08:07 PM) but for say, can a JB iphone update to firmware 3.0? You can, but your phone will either stay locked and your jailbreaked apps or hacks will be gone.

This time they're making more money off customers, you have to buy more level or more stages for games apps and you'll have to buy for more info guides on different countries or cities on certain apps.

It's funny that we the iPhone owners and user are cheering for:
-cut/copy/paste feature -MMS -Voice Memos -Landscape texting
...that is already available in lots of mobile phone in the market today, but it's good news for us. iPhone OS 3.0 is getting stronger and better.

geo-milano, I know that you're excited with the new updates on iPhone OS 3.0 but don't spam this thread.
Hopefully this firmware will remain free, you'll get to see this version alongside when they release 3rd-gen iPhone in June/July. The best thing is, this is not the end for the features in the firmware so there's more to come.

There's nothing wrong if you buy the current iPhone 3G even the new model comes out as the they all runs the same firmware version. For hardware wise features, might be vary.

The thing about Apple that I dislike is that their new products are always tempting, iPhone 2G is good enough for me but still I'm considering iPhone 3G.

Why would I want to move in a house that is empty instead of a fully furnished? I'm talking about the firmware 3.0, don't bother downloading and installing it unless you're a developer or you know what you're doing guy/girl. The features inside the firmware is not even complete yet, just be patient for patience sake. This post has been edited by Mike3300: Apr 4 2009, 07:47 PM

QUOTE(allornothing @ Apr 4 2009, 11:58 PM) One improvement I truly hope they will implement is the battery life. I like to surf on the go. Sometimes journeys are pretty boring. And I would want it not by turning off 3G. EDGE is slow. I know it's hard to do that given that Apple has to retain its dimensions and weight as close as possible to the preceding model. But then again, improvements to a new model are weaknesses in the previous model. If some breakthrough or improvement is being done on the third generation iPhone, then it has to be thicker because of the battery or remain almost the same like the current iPhone 3G while using the same battery. Power consumption is an issue that can affect the thickness of the device, first generation iPhone has 1400mAh battery which can last for about 6 hours of use while the second generation iPhone has only 1150mAh battery which gives lesser juice and can last for about 5 hours of use. It depends on the user too on their own usage and battery charge cycle. Next Gen iPhone to Enable Full HD Video Out?QUOTE Apple has advised resellers to begin placing on clearance both the Apple Composite AV Cable and the Apple Component AV Cable, according to a PhoneNews.com report.
The site has learned that Apple will replace these with a single cable, which is known simply as the Apple AV Cable. The consolidated cable will support both component and composite output on the same cable.
More interestingly, PhoneNews.com has learned that the next generation of iPhone and iPod touch will offer at least one version of the iPhone and one version of iPod touch with an even higher resolution screen and capable of full HD video output.
Currently the iPhone and iPod touch do not exceed 480i and 480p (respectively) in terms of video resolution. However, the next iPhone and iPod touch will enable full HD playback, with 720p and 1080i output modes.
It is also believed that Apple will provide the ability for users to access their entire iTunes Library from the iPhone via Wi-Fi.
The end result is that a user can sit at their HDTV, using an Apple AV Dock and an Apple Remote, controlling their iPhone much as they do an Apple TV today. This ensures that a new iPhone owner will be able to purcase, for under $100, all the equipment needed to access (via the iPhone) all of their computer-stored HD content, on their HDTV. Source: http://iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=3605If this is going to happen, Apple TV's sale will go down.

This is the problem new user is having, whenever they hear new announcement by Apple without any knowledge or research immediately they want to have it installed on their device.
It's still in beta and it's not ready to be launch to normal consumer (us), Apple announce it early so that developer or even they themselves can work around their apps and tweaks to maximize the OS with their apps without any bugs, crashes, glitches, you name it.
Why bother to download it now as Apple seeds every new version each time with new features and that means it is better to wait for the final version to include all of the whole package at a time.

There goes the mentality of fake products, why bother to post in the original iPhone thread if you support fake iPhone?
All those clones so called 'iPhone' is not even near to the iPhone.
