Anyone who said it just about 3mp camera, voice controller etc, shud read this, http://www.theiphoneblog.com/2009/06/13/ip...processors-mhz/

More than just MHz. tongue.gif

Oh, we also shud expecting dual core ARM chips at 2010. Can't wait but still one year to go for WWDC. heh

Yes, that was discussed here as well. We detailed what the new platform can do. The PowerVR SGX with OpenGL ES 2.0 is marvelous for future games. However, we've also discussed about the implications of this new platform since OpenGL ES 2.0 is not backward compatible for ES 1.0 on the current iPhone, iPod Touch. So there will be a branching on the Apps Store.

Anyway guys! Its just a few more days! drool.gif

Just sharing my experience here.

I upgraded to 3.0GM last week, but only used it for 2 days. Now back to 2.2.1 already. I am using the iPhone 3G (official unlocked Sing set).

Some observations using the OS3 GM during the 2 days:

1. The Internet tethering option will not be available if you are using Celcom (that's me). I tried with my wife's Maxis sim card (prepaid), and the option is there. When i clicked on the button, a message pop up saying i have to contact a Maxis number to enable internet tethering.

2. As i am using Celcom with limited data package, i cant find a way to disable edge setting. Meaning that i just cannot stop the data connection to the iPhone, which is not good if you are not on a unlimited data plan. The "put garbage text in APN settings" fix does not seems to work. This is the main reason went back to 2.2.1 (for now) until the solution to this is available.

3. Copy and paste is very usable, used it a number of times during the 2 days.

4. Forgot to try out the language feature for Malaysia (Somebody above asked about the BM language). But i remember reading that Malaysia is one of the language supported in 3.0.

5. I just cant get the MMS to work (using my Celcom). The same MMS config worked fine on swirlyMMS before. Not very sure why.

6. As somebody asked above, i can confirm that the caller ID problem is no more with 3.0. Call in and incoming SMS will display the names correctly.

For now i think i wait for the 3.0 JB then only upgrade to the official 3.0. But for those who is with Maxis with the right data plan should have no issues with the upgrades.

Hope this info is useful to somebody out there.

Hi there, I'm also using iPhone 3.0GM.. MMS does work with Celcom. Just put the correct settings in the Cellular Network Data. Send and receive no problem. Can also receive video from my mum's N95 thumbup.gif .. But no options for Internet Tethering yet. I guess that you need the Carrier settings to enable it.

I think the 3G can do video MMS, only video recording is exclusive to 3GS.

For BM keyboard, maybe ujoewong can try it, since i'm back to fw 2.2.1 already so cant try it out now.

@Ujoewong: great to know that MMS works on celcom, maybe my settings was wrong somewhere.

After you input the MMS settings, you need to restart the iPhone 1st.

@coolg4,

In my case, video can be received on an iPhone 3G via MMS. MMS only allow 300KB of file to be send out, so the video you receive is not that good in quality.

Yes, because all of your jailbreak applications and data will be gone. So your phone will be locked if you're not using official unlocked ones. OS 3.0 has so much of useful features for the iPhone and how could you describe it as bad.

Apple has just released iPhone 3.0 for iPhone 3GS on it's server and it's available for download. This works for iPhone 3GS only and not for 2G or 3G. If you try to update it on 2G/3G, you will get an error.

For those who would like to download the iPhone 3GS firmware, please refer to ths thread: http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/984406

Firmware 2G and 3G will be updated when it's available for download.

Cheers

mann...

the way i see this, is like a bait for you to rush out to purchase the new iPhone 3G S.

it is not even available for public consumption yet, and the OS 3.0 is up and running.

I think is for AT&T to download the firmware earlier in preparation for iPhone 3GS launched on 19th June. Good that Apple seeds it earlier or they will face down time like last year which was not wise.

wah, there is firmware for iphone 3GS eventhough the phone still not yet release hehe, just like bro nokia said, it seems to make people to buy 3GS when it release. and i think the apple do things like that because apple will make 3GS first priority in their update etc.

oh ya, did you guys notice it, it seems the firmware series is 7A341 does this mean that it is was same series as GM but somehow thier change its compability into 3GS.? will 3G firmware will 7A341 too but its compatible for 3G.?

Like DG said it, most probably AT&T already receive preliminary stocks. In supply chain management, the stocks have to be on its way, way before the official launching. They don't just arrive 1 day or 1 week before the release. In order to manage expectations and demand, they would have to stockpile a particular product for a few weeks. Also they may be running some promotional materials too, so the customized packing is done. These take time also.

So I guess the firmware release is for AT&T to update these phones though I would expect the phones to be shipped fully updated. But probably today is their official distribution date over the internet.

yes, it confirmed.. i using iPhone 2G 3.0 GM.. the Called ID is fixed for Malaysia. so no need to JB now

I think Apple will use 3.0 GM as the release since the iPhone2,1 firmware is 7A341 which is same as the GM.
