Just sharing my experience here.
I upgraded to 3.0GM last week, but only used it for 2 days. Now back to 2.2.1 already. I am using the iPhone 3G (official unlocked Sing set).
Some observations using the OS3 GM during the 2 days:
1. The Internet tethering option will not be available if you are using Celcom (that's me). I tried with my wife's Maxis sim card (prepaid), and the option is there. When i clicked on the button, a message pop up saying i have to contact a Maxis number to enable internet tethering.
2. As i am using Celcom with limited data package, i cant find a way to disable edge setting. Meaning that i just cannot stop the data connection to the iPhone, which is not good if you are not on a unlimited data plan. The "put garbage text in APN settings" fix does not seems to work. This is the main reason went back to 2.2.1 (for now) until the solution to this is available.
3. Copy and paste is very usable, used it a number of times during the 2 days.
4. Forgot to try out the language feature for Malaysia (Somebody above asked about the BM language). But i remember reading that Malaysia is one of the language supported in 3.0.
5. I just cant get the MMS to work (using my Celcom). The same MMS config worked fine on swirlyMMS before. Not very sure why.
6. As somebody asked above, i can confirm that the caller ID problem is no more with 3.0. Call in and incoming SMS will display the names correctly.
For now i think i wait for the 3.0 JB then only upgrade to the official 3.0. But for those who is with Maxis with the right data plan should have no issues with the upgrades.
Hope this info is useful to somebody out there.

QUOTE(TakanoKyohei @ Jun 15 2009, 03:59 PM) from the picture you attach, one of the picture got play option? it means you can also send video mms via network>? as far as i know only 3GS can do so, not 3G..hmmm... @coolg4, yes it was me who ask it, we can find it in setting>keyboard>language, if there is a bahasa malaysia keyboard( eventhough it same as english) then it means can use the auto correction, do it have bahasa malaysia keyboard in the setting? thanks. Taka. I think the 3G can do video MMS, only video recording is exclusive to 3GS. For BM keyboard, maybe ujoewong can try it, since i'm back to fw 2.2.1 already so cant try it out now. @Ujoewong: great to know that MMS works on celcom, maybe my settings was wrong somewhere.

QUOTE(tinkerbel @ Jun 19 2009, 03:49 PM) @mrRighthand, Yes.. just disable APN and U won't need to worry about ur phone streaming data through Optus/Telstra, etc. Can somebody confirm that this APN trick actually works on fw 3.0? i was using 3.0GM last week and found out that whatever fake text i entered in APN setting, the iPhone is always connected to the Net (using Celcom3G). This is the only reason why i'm still holding on from upgrading to 3.0. At least until there's a way to disable the gprs/edge setting.

QUOTE @coolg4, I've been disabling my APN (unless for when I used the iPhone to test Internet Tethering] and it works; both on the new 3.0 and the older software. Thanks for the confirmation. I guess i will be sleeping late again tonight :-) Just to make sure that i'm getting this right, when you said "disabling my APN" you mean putting irrelevant text in the APN field, right? And if i can work out the tethering part, maybe its time to really consider getting the unlimited data plan from Celcom coming Monday. Thanks again.

QUOTE @CooLeRthings, oOps.. paiseh!
@fliz, hMm... it shouldn't be the case but perhaps U could check with some other forumers who's on the Celcom network. Sorry I jumped the gun *shoots herself* @Tinkerbel I was using fw 3.0 (GM) for a few days last week and i am convinced that the APN trick is not working on fw 3.0 (at least on Celcom). I took the trouble of getting back to 2.2.1 just because of this issue. Unless others using Celcom can prove otherwise, i'll wait for the JB then.
