QUOTE(Vint @ Apr 30 2009, 04:41 PM) alright thanks...if i were to compare studio xps 16 and studio 15..in which aspect that studio xps beats studio 15? SXPS has better design, better GPU, the option to go BD and Full HDand i heard from a lot of people it's not worth it to buy xps as what we pay additional is for its design only...is that true? if u re talking abt XPS (read: not SXPS), then the complain is the time-bomb GPU... |

but i wouldn't recommend buying ATi series although it is much much faster and cheaper than Gforce, but presently the Physx is making Gforce GPU run more compatible for most games

QUOTE(Alexdino @ Apr 30 2009, 10:27 PM) hello bro vint, ATi has problem cuz they support Havok, and Nvidia dun want to share PhysX with AMD... they negotiated before, but nothing came out of it...go for HP pavilion, if 4k i think you should add another 500 buy at least - 2.66ghz or 3ghz core2duo Added on April 30, 2009, 10:30 pm i think physx will start with unreal engine because the last remnant are using physx for shadow rendering and Ati card having problem for that. theoratically ATi cards ve no problem supporting PhysX... i ve seen Radeon HD 3850 running 3D Mark Vantage with PhysX enabled... anyway, with PhysX enabled it will drag down the framerate as well.. so imo PhysX is still not sth for laptops... unless u re using GTX 280/260... |

QUOTE(astria @ Apr 30 2009, 10:39 PM) ATi has problem cuz they support Havok, and Nvidia dun want to share PhysX with AMD... they negotiated before, but nothing came out of it... Some said Havok is for the future and PhysX is for present. all actually depended on MS to adopt which sdk into their DirectX.theoratically ATi cards ve no problem supporting PhysX... i ve seen Radeon HD 3850 running 3D Mark Vantage with PhysX enabled... anyway, with PhysX enabled it will drag down the framerate as well.. so imo PhysX is still not sth for laptops... unless u re using GTX 280/260... yup PhysX enabled will drag down frame rate but sometime it did boost some performance of GEForce 8 series and above. i cannot comment much on Havok and Ati card because im on Geforce card. but for now what can i find is if anyone want to play last remnant - physx is the solution. ya i was once support Ati card because it is very competitive in-term of GPU speed and budget, but in-term of software support i found it lagging behind Geforce. (no hard feelings so that is why there are always competition in the markets for both cards, which would be good for consumers. |

I saw a Toshiba Satellite X200-21P when I was searching up on laptops, but I'm not sure whether it's available in Malaysia. The GC for that lappy is GeForce 8600M, which is really quite decent, and will probably be on the higher end of your budget.
Alternatives: XPS Studio 16, BenQ S57, Dell Studio 15. Toshiba's not really reknowned for its laptops but for it's TV's. There are many other reputable brands.. |
