if it can work on Vista, it confirm can work on Win7, since the 2 ve the same core components anyway...

strictly speaking, Win7 is more like an upgrade of Vista... same as like Win2000 and XP...

Does anyone here has any ideas when will the laptops being bundled together with win 7?
And is the release date of win 7 in malaysia 22 Oct? Because it is not mention on the microsoft malaysia page. There's only the launch conference date, which is in november.

Dell are already offering their systems with Win 7. Order now and have your system that comes pre-installed with Win 7 shipped to you after the 22nd of October.

IIRC Gateway is made by Acer. Not 100% sure though.

depends on what notebook you bought, if bought the one with original OS, then it is installed.
if its freeDOS, then no OS or sometimes linux is provided.

no need to install driver, everything is installed already.
what you would like to do is to burn the recovery, there should be notification to burn the recovery disc.
second, you would want to remove the bloatware from manufacturer as these tends to slowdown the notebook.

windows key would be on the windows sticker, usually below notebook.

Some manufacturers provide backup discs for everything from the OS to drivers and even other bloatware nonsense.
