i can play most of the game with my 1++years old vostro 1500 with 8600gt and even GTA are playable, althought is not full, but playable.

not much different bro. because the game graphic is depended on your GPU core speed.

yes because is a mistake dell soldered the GPU into the motherboard which increase the heat. lucky my vostro1500 is not like that.

but i wouldn't recommend buying ATi series although it is much much faster and cheaper than Gforce, but presently the Physx is making Gforce GPU run more compatible for most games

Some said Havok is for the future and PhysX is for present. all actually depended on MS to adopt which sdk into their DirectX.

yup PhysX enabled will drag down frame rate but sometime it did boost some performance of GEForce 8 series and above.

i cannot comment much on Havok and Ati card because im on Geforce card. but for now what can i find is if anyone want to play last remnant - physx is the solution.

ya i was once support Ati card because it is very competitive in-term of GPU speed and budget, but in-term of software support i found it lagging behind Geforce. (no hard feelings )

so that is why there are always competition in the markets for both cards, which would be good for consumers.

if for GC, now 8600 barely playing new game with medium-low setting. try to find those with 8700GT or 9600GT will be good.

The heating issue is on faulty G84/ G86, i think 8700 should be ok.

ok my mistake, just found out, but seldom see ppl complain problem on 8700, because the main issue is from G86, not much on G84

Then go for 9600 or even QFX 3600M.

i wouldn't recommend Acer, many have bad experience with Acer.

it depends on your budget. try to get a laptop that suit your needs, brand come second.

Inspiron? how is your dell now? dell seem to be fading in their quality. So far my 1 year plus vostro already claimed replacement on a harddisk, a dvd writer and LCD.

I used to have a latitute which are very good.

go for HP DV5 series.

Dell will be much cheaper on inspiron, vostro. Studio is new line so i cannot comment much. If really want choose dell i will only recommend Latitude or maybe Precision series

interm of quality HP are more solid.

latitude are more solid build than inspiron and vostro. you pay more for a better product.

i personally have 2 recommended (wanted) gaming laptop

MSI GT627-218US (USD1.3k = RM 4.6k (if used 1usd = RM3.6, now at 3.49)





ASUS G51 (coming in July at USD 1.3-1.5k = RM 4.6 - 5.4K)
